You can’t. You can either be a cf or a 3b who pitches. Your secondary can only be either SP or whatever original position you picked.

well that sucks big time. I don't pitch at all so I managed to get rid of the 2-way thing, but I thought I'd be able to change positions as when you google it, it seems like you can.

One description even says that you 'unlock' SS after playing for a while and can move there once you've done so. That's pretty annoying if you can't wow

      take a look:

"Show 21’s RTTS and Diamond Dynasty modes. You can level up your ballplayer in either mode, and create loadouts that allow them to be ready to play any position on the field that you have access to.

That last part is important because, at first, you cannot change to any position you want in MLB The Show 21. You’re limited to a few, which is part of the reason why some players are unhappy with this change.

To tinker with your player’s position, enter the Ballplayer menu in the top left-hand corner of your screen while in the main menu and then go to Loadout. Once in Loadout, you’ll notice that you can select an Archetype for your player such as Painter or Sparkplug on the top left part of this menu. Whatever archetype you choose determines the position of your ballplayer and whether you’ll be hitting or pitching.

You’ll notice that when you pick it, your position will change. Some positions, like SS, are not available right at the start. By leveling up specific archetypes which is done through programs and completing RTTS and Diamond Dynasty missions, you’ll be able to eventually unlock new ones that you can create new loadouts for."

So either that's incorrect or I have no idea how to change positions because changing the archetype does nothing to the position - and I don't see any option to alter the position in any other way.

Those videos that mention unlocking a position are really talking about DD. They are talking about how some archetypes default to a certain position as their primary. In reality you can move your DD to anywhere you want those are merely suggestions.

That said, when you play RTTS whatever archetype you use will ignore that primary position and your primary position is now whatever you play regardless if the archetype doesn’t think it is best for it.

Those archtypes also are not right on what should be primary. For instance my diamond fielding one suggests cf but you can’t get that one to max 99 only 98. You can though get 99 with that archtype with lf/ss/2b. I don’t know why it suggests CF cause the game itself has no way to get it to 99.

So basically you can pick absolutely any position you want for RTTS just cause the archetype tried to claim you shouldn’t use it you totally can. My speed archtype which is diamond suggests SS and I am a level 99 CF in my rtts. It’s all suggestions they are not locking you out due to archtype.

What they are locking you out of is being able to have multiple secondary positions and being able to change that. But that is separate issue from how archetypes work.
