Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

the first year I played the majority of my baseball video gaming in the Show was 09 & I was bummed out on the Barves because of their '07-'08 performance, I had major indecisions so (to the best of my recollection) this is what I did, or something similar:

April - played as AL East - O's
May - played as NL West - Rockies or D'Backs
June - played as AL Central - White Sox
July - played as NL Central - Reds or Pirates
August - played as AL West - A's or M's
September - played as NL East - Atlanta

    - October Post-Season -
rolled a pair of dice to determine what I did
(I still like to sim a season and do this every year the last dozen years)

Snake Eyes or Boxcars - no post-season for me
    7 - reroll
    6 - AL Wild Card
    8 - NL Wild Card
    9 - NL #3 seed (division winner)
    10 - NL #2 seed (division winner)
    11 - NL #1 seed (division winner)
    5 - AL #3 seed (division winner)
    4 - AL #2 seed (division winner)
    3 - AL #1 seed (division winner)

when MLB added a second wild card to each league I replaced the snake eyes (2 - AL) & boxcar (12 -NL) no post-season rolls in exchange for the second wild card teams from the AL & NL

Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

I played with Baltimore last year and moved them to Montreal [emoji1] I had much fun despite being lousy. However, I’m not as much into relocating them this year. I started a 30-team franchise and play with the Jays, Cubs and Indians mostly, and with the Nats, sometimes, wearing the Expos jersey (how dare I?!). I feel Miami could turn into an exciting team to play with, they have speed, which I prefer over power. Their starting pitching is young. But.. I can’t focus on one team in particular...as always

I love this idea. Are your logos and stuff in the vault? And what stadium are you using if you don’t mind me asking?

Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

I have split allegiances to the White Sox and Mariners, but went with the Sox because I like their roster a little better RIGHT NOW than Seattle's and I like the uniforms/stadiums in the AL Central.

This year I decided to have little fun, and tweaked Ridin's rosters to add 1-2 legends onto 2021 rosters. I wanted to make the legends serve as moderate upgrades to the existing team - so Kirby Puckett replaces Buxton, Duke Snider replaces Bellinger, Frank Thomas over Abreu, etc. The better teams got smaller upgrades while the weaker teams got a boost to help level out the talent pool - the Pirates got Clemente AND Honus Wagner but don't really have a superstar to sacrifice.

I like the idea of having an all-time legend pop-up from time to time, but not face fully-stacked rosters. I'm interested to see how the leaderboards and whether various franchises will trade away their icons (I have CPU trading enabled).

Just something to add a little psychedilia to the experience since I know I won't go deep grooming farm systems.

Yeah no doubt. The logos are in the vault. It took me a few takes to get the uniforms correct. I used to use one of the cool fictional stadiums but I eventually settled on Old Texas stadium since this is still PS4.

They're sort of all over the board, but here's a lot of them, mostly picked up from other posters on here. It all depends on how you want to play the game. I like to keep my franchise as "realistic" as a baseball video game can be. I used to try to keep up with as many real-life MLB moves/trades as possible, but just found it to be a pain (I once traded for Ross Stripling in my Mariners franchise-He became a very, very solid 2nd starter, and then, since the Jays traded for him, I ended up reversing the trade after 20 starts. Absolutely killed my immersion, and I ended up retiring the franchise a couple of weeks later).

              -30 team control
              -Budgets on.
-User team will not exceed $175 mil internal budget (Assuming budget grows-I'm using Toronto, so it's under the assumption that the money will be there as a top 10 market).
-All teams are given sponsorships, loosely based on market size. After they're assigned, I don't really worry about other teams budgets as they grow.
-After Spring training, no trades until May 1st. Only minor deals during ST.
-CPU prospects (22 and under, high potential) that are released for no reason will be re-assigned to their original team.
-All trade values come from baseballtradevalues.com
-CPU trades are typically approved deals from that site that make sense from a league standings point of view.
-When USER is trading roster/star players for prospects, they can only be traded to playoff caliber teams in-season. Offseason can be done on a case by case basis.
-When USER is trading for roster players, they can only be acquired from non-playoff teams, unless the deal makes sense as a baseball trade.
-When USER is trading for star players, they can only be acquired from non-playoff teams, and require an overpayment by the user, depending on years of control remaining.
-Given that "player options" are screwy in 20, if I have an underperforming veteran on my MLB roster that I want to move to the minors, I'll remove him from the 40 man roster first so that the rest of the league has an opportunity to pick him up.
-I review CPU rosters a couple of times a year (usually July 1st-ish, and September 1st), and will add top-prospects who *should* be MLB-ready to CPU 40 man rosters.
-Injuries always seem a bit scarce in game for the user team (Not the minors, they get absolutely ravaged...). If a player is in the "out for 1-7 days" category, I'll typically fire them on the 10 day IL.

I'm probably missing a bunch, and even though it looks like a ton, it's actually just little tid bits that I keep at the back of my mind when I'm playing.

The main thing is with the trades, because I don't want to feel like I'm ripping the CPU off. I want it to sting me when I make a trade, especially when it's to improve my MLB roster. It's pretty much a case by case basis, but I always start from a value perspective, then I spend a lot of time thinking things like:
-If I was the CPU, why would I make this trade?
-Do the pieces make any sense? For both prospects and roster pieces, am I meeting positional needs for the CPU? Sending someone like the Dodgers a SP who's not even good enough to get in their rotation, and getting back solid prospects is a no-no.

In the past, yes, but I just felt like after year 1, aside from free agency, and me pulling the odd CPU to CPU blockbuster, player movement would be kind of stagnant.

I forget which setting it is (Maybe it's just because I've got 30 team control on?), but trades will pop up, and I'll reverse the ones that don't make any sense (Ie. Wander Franco for anyone...). If it's just a pair of minor leaguers that aren't top prospects, I'll let it go. Essentially, I really have no problem with the CPU teams trading with themselves, but I'll monitor it so that nothing ridiculous happens (Which seems to be kind of often). If the basis around a trade makes sense for both sides, I'll tinker and add the appropriate level of value to the trade.

I don't know what the CPU Rays obsession with trading away Wander is though

The more I think about it, it’s reallly hard to pass up the Angels in franchise mode. I mean how many times do you get to use a 99 overall player on a crap team? Then throw in Ohtani? Rendon. If it was me I’d try to dump Fowler off and play Marsh in right field. Oh and Kurt Suzuki has like 93 contact 75 power vs lefties as a catcher.

One thing I’d work on is building the farm. It’s pretty terrible. What a fun team though. It’s incredible how they continue to lose and lose in real life.

Using trout on the angels is like being able to use a 29 year old Tom Brady in a madden franchise and not feeling guilty about it. Idk if I can pass it up

This is my thinking as well as they just hired a new GM as a team desperate to put together a winner while they have the greatest player of our lifetime. Add to that they have the most unique player in the game in Ohtani. It is a very hard team to pass up.

yeah, I totally get this appeal. the closest experience I've had was playing as the 76'ers back in NBA Live just to have Allen Iverson. no one was sooo much fun to play with and have to carry the entire load basically on his own like A.I.
I hated Philly but I there was a stretch of years ('03, '05, '06) where it was too much fun to turn down playing with Iverson & the Sixers

now having said that, I hate all teams LA (except for Marcus Allens Raiders & Gretzkys Kings), it would be hard for me to play with the Angels or Dodgers outside of an occasional Play Now friendly

The only downside for me is I’m a sucker for young teams and young talent, and the angels really have absolutely nobody young with high potential except for jo adell and Brandon Marsh

I’m using my Red Sox. I plan on getting through 4-5 seasons before ending that one, hopefully with a dynasty saying they’re only a few pieces away from a dynasty.

For my next franchise, I’m thinking either Pittsburgh, Oakland (which would involve a new Stadium either in Oakland or somewhere else), Detroit or Arizona. Most likely going Pittsburgh or Oakland.

Using trout on the angels is like being able to use a 29 year old Tom Brady in a madden franchise and not feeling guilty about it. Idk if I can pass it up

Yeah, if I wasn't using Toronto, I think my second choice would have been to go with the Angels. Their farm isn't *that* bad, because you've got Marsh, Adell (Who would be fun to try to progress with), Detmers, and Adams. It kind of falls back from there, but playing with Trout, Shohei, Rendon, Walsh, etc. could make for a lot of fun.

Biggest story lines would be trying to fix the rotation, and replenish the farm while remaining competitive.

                                For the indecisive franchise guy

Yeah I actually started a franchise with them. I play spring training long enough to just get a feel for the players. I hope I can manage to play two full seasons. The first trade I made was acquiring Luke Weaver from the diamondbacks. That will be the only trade I make, until the deadline atleast
