Could also try to compete with Milwaukee who doesn't get a lot of love but using Yelich and having a middle of the road team could be fun in a winnable division.

I should have been more clear.
The level seems right for me because any other team I am not raking like I am with Minnesota. The power bats they have make it less strategy and more destroy the ball and send it into the bleachers or strikeout and have a seat.
Cruz, Sano, Buxton all have tremendous power. Can be fun but homerun or bust isn't my favorite way to play.

        For the indecisive franchise guy

So I’ve tried in no particular order,
        Blue Jays
        Rockies
        Diamondbacks
        Cardinals
        Phillies
        Cubs
Pirates (actually got about 12 games in)
and Marlins. I’ve finally (I hope) settled on the Detroit Tigers!

Zero commitment to any of their players (unlike my beloved Jays) so I can run with the team the way I please. Nice clean uniform options, nice stadium, never played with a central division team before so it’s feeling fresh.

Only 3 games in but I think I’m gonna stick with this one.

        Wish me luck.

I have started franchises with Tampa, Oakland, and Toronto within the last 2 weeks. Played 12 or 13 games with Toronto and find myself wanting to pick someone else already

Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

              Noooooo don't do it!

I think the real problem for most people is detaching from reality and finding that personal attachment to the club.

That's a big part of the reason why I often suggest fictional franchises. Fantasy drafts can also work (fictional fantasy draft anyone?)

Even just making a small trade right as you take over can make a world of difference. Something that carries your thumbprint so you can say "this is my team". Once it becomes your team it can't be anything else.

I've stuck with the same Jays since 2014. Sure, I don't have Vladdy or Bichette or Hernandez, and sometimes that sucks. But I do have Jose Lozano, a SP I drafted who evolved into the best pitcher in baseball, and Jarome Mauzoul, an afterthought in a trade whose now a star CF with many tools. This is MY team now, and you can pry them from my cold dead hands.

That's the true joy in GM modes. It's not about where you end up, but how you get there.

I do fantasy drafts. My current franchise is a fantasy draft and I really feel ownership of my players.

I always wanted to do a fantasy draft and stick with it. Does the cpu do a good job drafting teams? We know how good they handle bullpens lol.

Think I’m going to run with the Pirates or Marlins. Tried the Mariners but I can’t do AL teams for some reason. Just prefer to manage without the DH.

Kept the Tampa one active just in case. I love young teams probably more than anything. Can't really do much younger than them, especially if I call up Franco and Brujan. The other teams I'm looking at are Kansas City, MAYBE Detroit but they don't have much talent, and then finally my Reds.

Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

In my mind, I've changed the name of this group to the "indecisive franchise guy support group"

Won the world series with my Jays last week. Woke up the next morning and said "What now?". It was an absolute battle all year, and I've become attached to a lot of my guys, but all of the sudden I'm watching guys like Robbie Ray, Marcus Semien, Brandon Belt, and some fun depth relievers walk. I ended up rolling through FA, gave myself a spending limit, and ended up on opening day with Carlos Correa (5 year deal with a player option so he can go back to FA as a 30 year old), and Max Scherzer ($18.7 mil/1 year...I always wanted to pitch with him, and never have...) as my main acquisitions.

First thing-I regretted signing Correa. Is it realistic for the Jays to take a shot at one of the big name guys this offseason? Absolutely. But now, what am I supposed to do with Groshans/Martin, as they get closer to MLB ready prospects?
Second thing-I regretted letting Robbie Ray go. Guy was a beast for me, but ended up signing in Baltimore (Sorry Robbie...I should have matched their offer...).

Contemplated starting over with someone else, but took a couple of days off, and decided that, even though I was feeling a bit off about everything, I'd slog through a few games and see if I can get the love back. Well, 20ish games in, I've lost Ryu for 3-4 weeks, Nate Pearson has gone from Cy-Young candidate to giant question mark (My lantaaa...I really should have focused more on starting pitching depth in the offseason...typical Jays management ), Randal Grichuk has gone from playoff MVP to DFA candidate, Vladdy is hitting .280/.550/something huuuuuge (Leading the league in walks...cowards won't throw to him!), and the left side of my defensive has gone from a noodle armed, error ridden duo (Bichette/Biggio), to Correa stopping everything that comes in his direction. Also, Max Scherzer may not be having a Cy Young-type start, but he's a heck of a lot of fun to throw with.

I thought I fell out of love with my team, but all I needed was a little break, and a bit of adversity.

I feel like I'm doing more recaps than anything else here, and that I almost should be posting in the Franchise forum, but holy F***, I definitely needed some support last night. Pearson had another blow up (4 starts, ERA above 7 after being ROY in year 1...I'm still playing 20...), Springer sprained his ankle, Vladdy broke his wrist, and Bo pulled a hammy within 4-5 games of each other. I thought I had this uber-powerful lineup, which was part of why I was regretting my offseason moves a bit, but now I've got, for at least the next couple of weeks (In no particular order):

                            -Biggio
                            -Davis
                            -Calhoun

                            -Grichuk (Hitting .110 )
                            -Kirk
                            -Dubon
                            -Gurriel Jr.
-Panik (But I just called up Austin Martin for his debut...here I was worried about when I'd get to bring him up, but lo and behold there's a roster spot for him in Early April before he's probably ready )

Oh. And Trent Thornton is going to get 2-3 starts since Ryu is down.

I absolutely hate that it all happened, but holy frig is it ever keeping me into it.

My Jays have a long history of Rookie of the year only to have a massive sophomore slump. Jarome Mauzoul, Daniel Franco, Adam McMullan, and most recently, Alfonso Baez.

Out of those 4 rookie of the years, only one (McMullan) was able to avoid getting sent down, and two (Franco, Baez) have yet to recover.

This year I'm hoping Blanco bucks the trend. I kind of need him to be my third SP if I'm going to make another run this year.

Well to answer the question I went with seattle being life long fan, and also they suck. Something I enjoy doing is creating a player with my name sometimes I do friends of mine and plug then in to the team. It keeps me connected to the team and I treat it kinda like a RTTS. I don't exclusively use him but I follow him/them. Obviously it's a break from "reality" but I don't care it's fun for me. Which leads to one of my biggest issues with franchise, Where's the presentation? Like hr leader race, mvp races, and such. Or a social media page like 2k at a bare minimum.
