Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

Does anyone change franchises throughout their game? How do you deal with it? I'm definitely attached to my roster and prospects, but see my current franchise as no longer needing me because of how dominant we've become, which makes me kind of sad...

I don't (!!!) want to start over. I've done it too many times, and still feel immersed into the league overall, I just think I might lose my passion for it a bit if we keep going in the direction that we're going. I used fair trades, I tried to keep my rosters as realistic as possible, we've just become wayyyy too good.

My thought-Given that I've got 1 year left on my contract, I'm thinking that I'll jump to a franchise that's in deep doo doo, and pay my current team (Jays) for them to let me out of my contract.

Am I going overboard here? Should I just stick it out in Toronto? I'm not feeling super attached to anyone else out there right now, I'm just feeling like a change would be nice.

Edit: I'm absolutely going to finish this season with my Jays...just thinking forward to the off-season.

Definitely move to a new challenge in that same franchise. I've done it. Its pretty fun. I've even saved an extra file so I can try to get an offer from a team that I want.

I'd say so what makes you happy, but I will say that the passion comes and goes sometimes. In my 2014 carry over, I've been through a few contract resigns already. One of them I was offered a job by the Mets, and I seriously thought about taking it. However, I stuck with my beloved Jays, and although I regretted it at first, I don't regret it now.

I'm not sure I would have stuck around if I were with the Mets, but it's more than that. Keeping the ball rolling with a dominant team is it's own challenge, and the more time passes, the more challenging it becomes. Sure you might be gravy for a year or two, but suddenly a key player might get injured for a year, or a young player asks for a contract that gives you pause, or you sign a contract thinking that it's a done deal and you're on easy street, then all of a sudden it becomes this albatross you've got to work around.

I'm running a Jays franchise chock full of talent an clearly on its way to another world series run, but this year there are more questions than ever, and tough decisions keep multiplying. I had to let go the best shortstop in the game last offseason, and next season could see a few more high quality players heading out, and my only recourse to fall back on is my farm system. Sure there is a ton of potential there, but potential doesn't always pan out, and if it doesn't I could see the offense of my team drop significantly. There are always new challenges popping up, just of different natures.

I do the same thing every year, wait until Ridin's trade deadline roster comes out, then start a franchise with the trade slider turned all the way down so at the end of year 1 the rosters are the same as IRL.. I pick teams that are not playoff contenders and have a deep farm system.. this year I'm deciding between the Mariners and Marlins.. I decided on the Mariners simply for Julio Rodriguez and Noelvi Marte.. I'm going to start another franchise as well but wanted to see if there is another team outside of the marlins that meets my criteria

Yeah, I'm pretty much on the same page. I don't want to make the decision and then regret it down the road. I'm loving my time with Baby Vlad, and I've got a Cy Young with Nate Pearson already.

I definitely have enjoyed my Jays time, have a couple of good drafts in so far, and have a dominant core. I'd assume that Biggio will become too expensive for me to keep, but my current contracts flow well enough that there's a large contract coming off the books almost every year.

I just feel like jumping into a dumpster-fire like Colorado, Arizona, or even Baltimore might be the kick in the arse I need. Maybe do 2-3 years, then jump back and return to Toronto when they need me again?

I'm in early August, so I've got some time to consider what I want to do anyway. I do have 1 year left on my current contract, so I might jump to Arizona, take the first guy that I drafted (He's a switch hitting CF who I edited to use the Griffey Jr. swing.), and send the Jays Gallen as compensation. We'll see though!

              Marlins, Orioles or Tigers......
Decisions decisions. That Marlins pitching staff or mash with Torkelson and chase 500 with Miggy? Orioles have a fun division, couple solid prospects and get to play against the Yanks, Sox and Ray's every year.
Marlins are fun. Pitching staff is young. Trevor Rodgers becomes a stud. You have a solid 3-4 pitchers if you can develop them. On offensive Jazz Chisholm developed into an all-star for me. 90+ and won a batting title. Jose Devers has been relatively disappointing for me. Early years you get high draft picks so if you can scout well, you have a great young team.

I keep going back and forth with what I want to do. I think I'm settled and I'm just going to be the Stros but sim the first two years. There minor league system isn't that great. I'm going to adjust some potentials. I'll check the vault too to see if any of their minor leaguers are there too.

I won't resign Correa after this season.

I used to love when they were losing 100+ I enjoyed the game more.

I’ve taken to doing a created team expansion franchise where I put a team in Charlotte. It’s kept me pretty engaged. We were genuinely horrid our first few years, but we’re building a nice core.
