    I can't speak to NBA2k or NHL.

    EA deserves no credit whatsoever. 100% pure trash. A decade of taking a dump on their fans heads. Forgive me for not thanking them for the hat. They even said in their press barrage franchise was the most played mode. They should be shamed right out of the football business.

    Given their complete lack of creativity, buying studios and standing on the backs of their genius, I would prefer they find themselves out of the gaming business altogether.
    What are you talking about? The progress comment was about franchise specifically. Not about anything on the field. MLBtS is a great game, for sure. So you agree with me then -- franchise leaves a lot to be desired (i.e., VERY little progress there).

    And of course Madden deserves little to no credit. It's a horrible game and EA is a dumpster fire of a company (they also helped ruin Bioware). But it seems like they DID cave to pressure, which means they deserve a little credit (IF revamped franchise is a huge leap, which wouldn't be hard).

      On the field, yes. With DD, yes. With franchise mode? No.

          Agreed.

          As a previous user said, I do think great gameplay lends to franchise replay-abiity. Outside of rocket bunts, we have that. Perfect? No. But easily the best in the long history of baseball gaming.

          How many homers can I hit if I play with Junior for 20 years?... how many MVPs Awards?.. How many Ks and Cy Youngs can I rack up with Randy Johnson?... would we really rather sell hot dogs and beers? Raise parking prices? Sell advertising?

          Team building needs to improve dramatically. They are really missing the boat in that regard.

          DD is amusing. I grind for Junior every year. I enjoyed Maddux-Glavine-Smoltz being added. But I really don't see the ultimate appeal of the mode. I struggle even more to see how it will sustain itself over the long term in this form.

          .. What I want out of franchise is OOTP paired with the stellar gameplay. But I know that is completely unrealistic.

          I'm still trying to figure out why the axed season mode. I don't trust many aspects of the franchise engine (progression, and the morale system is a total joke) and as bare-bones as franchise is, I can't figure out why they wouldn't just let users run a 40-man?!

            There are things in '21 that is an improvement over previous titles:

            * Rosters expanded to 93
            * Better budget system
            * AI teams signing free agents during the season to fulfill needs
            * Trades are better imo
            * I think the AI roster management has been better

            Are there shortcomings still? Absolutely, but this year it feels as though changes were made to lay a foundation for bigger and better things to come versus just doctoring what was there.
            I might be willing to entertain this as an improvement if it weren't for the significant and gaping hole that the removal of year to year saves left.

            That need sweeping, significant improvements in order to justify. Instead we got a cough and a fart.

              I think it’s more The Show community needs to take notes from Madden players. EA does deserve credit for continuing to follow through so far on their promised recommitment to franchise mode, rather then saying ‘ok there we added some updates to the mode over the last cycle’ and then trying to slip back to their usual ways, but it almost definitely wouldn’t be happening if it wasn’t for the whole ‘fix madden franchise’ thing that blew up on social media. EA didn’t just shift resources and focus back to franchise out of nowhere.

              EA really doesn’t have any excuses for letting the state of their franchise mode in Madden get so bad and stale that the community had enough and came together to bully them into doing something about it, but it proves that that strategy works. If you make enough noise they’ll have to at least acknowledge it.

              If the direction this game is clearly headed is going to change, a lot of the player base will need to care enough to put that same pressure on SDS IMO. The Show community needs its own ‘#FixMaddenFranchise’ moment.
