It flat out wouldn’t make the change I tried to implement and then after that runner (the slower one) actually scored, the game went to the blue screen.

Trying to figure out the steps you tried to take to put in a pinch runner. So you subbed a runner on base for a slower one?

No. Trailing by one run, I had a hitter with 40 speed lead off with a single. I tried to sub for him with a 94 speed player. I went to base runner action, pinch run screen, highlighted the intended substitution, it asked me if I wanted to pinch run for the runner with this player, I pushed yes. The game returned with the old runner still in the game. I repeated this process 3 or 4 times. Same result. Then after refusing to allow the pinch runner, the game, a few batters later, went to blue screen

Was the runner you were trying to take out a catcher? If so, did you have another catcher on the bench?

Reason I ask is the game will not let you sub out a catcher, at least pinch running, for another player if you do not have a catcher (or player that can play catcher) on the bench.

At least I think this is the case, as I ran across it once or twice previously.

It was a first baseman who also plays of. I was going to sub in an inf with speed ( who also can play of). It just wouldn’t do it.

so I've dabbled with this mode in the past, tried it again yesterday.

Season opener, top 7th, down 2-1, great game so far. Bellinger at bat, Rockies bring in Bowden to face him, so I pinch hit Pujols for him. There were 2 outs, he struck out and before I can sub we move on.

The game crashed, which NEVER happens when I play franchise. Based on what I'm reading here, it's confirmed that if you pinch hit or run with a player who doesn't match the position you're subbing for the game will crash? Pretty unfortunate bug.

Guess I'll go back to quick managing and watching CPUvCPU

If you're interested in this mode I posted a workaround earlier. It's not perfect, but it helps.

And although it doesn't have quick manage, per se, if you go to exit and simulate (I think that's what it's called, not at the game) and quickly press SQUARE you can press NEXT BATTER and it will advance the game one batter at a time. It will even sub pitchers and pinch hit for you.

is specifically mentioned as being fixed in an update coming tonight. Hoping it actually is for you manage-only guys.

Played a couple games in manage mode since the patch. They appear to have fixed the crashing problem.

My team is the expansion Carolina Hornets.. Playing MOM yesterday I saved and exited.

This morning I was creating some uniforms in a NEW franchise file. One was the Tampa Bay Veterans. I had been working on renaming all 30 teams for a winter ball season. I saved this NEW franchise file.

This morning I load my saved MOM game from yesterday vs. the Braves. My Hornets now have the Tampa Bay Veterans uniforms on. They are still the Carolina Hornets in the box score.

Luckily I always save my franchise twice. The backup save had the correct Hornets uniform.

I swear.....this is so screwed up. What a mess

Can someone explain to a newbie how MoM works? To start, do you select a team or keep the controller icon in the neutral middle between the teams? Once there, you can watch every play, play-by-play? Won't the CPU change pitchers on you without you being in control of a team? What am I missing here? Thank-you for any help.

You have your team
Before each pitch you can select a strategy before the ball is thrown, change pitchers, etc., etc. bunch of stuff. You can choice how many secs you get to make that decision. It becomes second nature when you get used to it.
Hitting….same thing. Hit and run, steal, pinch hit.
CPU does all it’s moves.
It’s all there.
There’s a neat backstop camera, sort of off set where you see the ump and catcher. It has a glitch right now as that’s the only camera available. Bug reports have been sent.
It’s a cool mode.

I didn't buy the game this year but it always in interesting that bugs get introduced in the new version of the game in manage mode. It's a great game but at the same time very frustrating. One developer in one day could fix a list of problems I've submitted bug reports on for years.

Great mode and the only one I play. Sure hope the camera issue is fixed in the next patch! Having a hard time playing with the backstop camera angle. Can't get into it, have always played Broadcast Cam

It's the only mode I play also - in mlbts23. Last year a bug was introduced wherein if you selected "pitch to batter" your pitcher instead did a pitchout. I wonder if it is fixed for mlbts24. One year the game froze when you went to the bullpen. Someone at the company who shouldn't have access to this mode is messing it up and apparently it isn't someone who reads and responds to bug reports.

This is a great mode and fun to play. I have been playing this way for years now. However I wont be getting 24. At this point, I will play 23 till it dies.
I never use pitch to batter or pitch around batter. I also dont call pitches. I let the game handle it. I found its a much better gameplay that way. I'll only call for IBB, bunt, throw over, steal, etc. I let the game play out the pitching between the catcher and pitcher. I will on occasion with a 3-0 or 3-1 count tell the batter to not swing, but very rarely.

I didn't know about the pitch to batter doing a pitchout. Interesting cause the ptichout didn't work last year instead he pitched to batter.

Interesting sidenote: In a game I played between the Yankees and Red Sox the Sox in a tight game tried a suicide squeeze not one, not two, not three but 4 times in the ninth and 10 innings. Once tied the game and one won the game. To combat that I would try to pitchout once in awhile to offset it.

Suicide squeezes drive me batsh!t.
