Whether it's a big deal is debatable at best, but I do get that it is aggravating for some, it would bother me as well. That said they are under no obligation to acknowledge anything as it's not a game breaker.

We used to have great interaction with the devs here, in fact we contributed here in fixing a large scheduling bug several years back due in large to our ability to contact them directly in these forums. However a certain subset of our user base at OS quite frankly ruined that dynamic and it is now gone forever.

I remember that. I also remember that when they fixed that schedule bug, it completely nuked any franchise files that had progressed passed that point in the schedule.

Hence the reason they cannot fix this issue. Or their unwillingness to do so, as doing so would cause Franchises to have to be restarted, infuriating many more people than the fix satisfies....

This idea about devs not posting here because of meanies is ridiculous. People who want to throw dirt at devs will do it. Twitter, their own forums, wherever. Nothing special about OS guys being meanies to devs. The idea is laughable right on its face.

It’s not an idea

I’ve had more than one developer tell me during pm discussions that they stopped interacting because of the difficulties in having productive discussion.

It was comments similar to this that caused them to go away. Thanks for the example. And Twitter wasn't even a thing back when they roamed OS boards. Ahh the good ole days before social media and big tech took over the world.

I don't know what they fixed but they didn't fix the game crashing in manage mode when you pinch hit or pinch run with a player not at the same position as they play being replaced. Just crashed for me.

This is very frustrating. I submitted a bug report and submitted a video each and every time - still not fixed. It's clear to me the addition of the ps5 and xbox in the same year was too much for the developers to handle. They need to expand the staff and since xbox wanted to be part of the game they should fund the additional payroll.

I sent in a bug report as well for this issue. Hopefully it get fixed but considering the fact it took two years to fix in game injuries I am not holding my breath.

I will though keep sending in bug reports after each patch.

Yes but at same time devs explaining their point of view is probably the best way to manage expectations and having the community to cool down. I would say at least 95% here understand and reacted positively to devs comments, even when it was not going in the direction they wanted.

Funny fact, look at all the replies of SDS Twitter account and the most venomous ones are from their loved community of DD players complaining about not hitting the ball square enough, not enough cards released or with not high enough ratings etc

No, my point was not that they have to hop on OS or any other forum, and engage with the community.

I’m sure they are aware of the issues. They get the reports and submissions on it all.

However, I think companies and businesses can buy themselves a solid amount of goodwill with transparency. Could they post major/larger known issues on a central location, and acknowledge what can be patched/will be patched during the 2021 cycle, or what will be addressed in future iterations?

I don’t expect or need interaction, but transparency would be nice. They used to be much more active, and in my opinion, the quality of the product was much better when they were. That’s not practical anymore, but more transparency would at least make it feel more connected.

But anymore, they can buy folks off with a free pack or a couple thousand stubs, and all is well.

Im not sure what you're profession is. I also am not going to say these companies all have the greatest marketing plans. But I CAN tell you , in general, it DOES not garner goodwill to release a statement laying out all the things that are wrong with your game unless you are working to fix it. What good would it do to say, hey we messed up the prospect ages and we can't fix it until we rework all the code which won't happen for another 3 years

And something else.. think of the amount of ppl that buy the game.. Ive seen maybe 10-20 people on here complaining about the schedule times. TBH , the prospect ages and DEF the game times are something I would have not even really been aware of IF I were on these boards.

Oh yeah I agree that a overwhelming majority here on OS wanted and actually did provide great discussions with the devs back then. But as the old saying goes, one bad apple can ruin the entire batch. It's all good though, I don't think anyone here who remembers those times are actually completely butt hurt about it lol

The problem I see with the "meanness drove out the devs" theory is that the devs are still monitoring and communicating on the shownation forums, where I see just as much (if not more) negativity than I see here.

If lack of productive discussion is truly keeping them off these boards that would really be a lame excuse. We're all are aware of the angry troll posts and they're quite easy to avoid if you want. No reason they can't do it. It's pretty easy to spot productive discussion and there's actually quite a bit of it here, but a lot of it gets ignored. If they're unable to filter out cyber noise in this day and age then either they don't know how to navigate the internet, or lack basic maturity. Most people see plenty of useless or inane commentary but simply skip over it without much thought or distress.

So I think it's more likely they want to keep a smaller footprint and have fewer interactions to keep expectations in check. Not saying that's right; I just think it's what "is".

I forgot about that. Yes you are 100% correct it did nuke Franchise files, I think it was due to a major change in the database and it wonked everything up in the franchise.

Going to their official forums is part of their job/job description. Coming to OS on their own time and getting the **** beat out of them verbally (and it was really bad.) is not. Why would they come back? I know for fact this is why they stopped.

It does suck to because we actually helped fix a previous scheduling bug, and previous scoring bugs due to that interaction, as we have some guys here who can be really helpful and insightful. At this point it's moot though as there's zero chance they ever come back, and that's on us.

A key difference is probably that spending time on their forums or Twitter/other social media is likely seen as part of the job because it's 2021 and that's where a lot of feedback is.

Coming to an old message board like OS would be something done on their free time, and who wants to deal with that bull**** when you're off the clock? Not me, I'm sure not you, and I'm sure not any game devs.

Not only that but it got personal. Why would they come back? Some people around here just don't get it.

Exactly. And the saddest part about it is that this has happened with three of the major players over the years - EA, 2K, and now Sony/SDS.....and people here just won't accept why they leave and would rather accuse the devs of being snowflakes who can't take criticism. To their credit the UFC devs still have a presence here, though even that has diminished with GPD's departure (which further demonstrates that posting here is not a part of a developer's job requirement - it's something they do on their own time).

As a couple others already said...it's part of their job description to go and interact on their own show forums. If it wasn't I guarantee you they wouldn't go there either. Coming to OS was on their own free time and their choice out of the love they have for the game they create and desire to make it better.

OS I always assumed was created for those who truly want true sports Simulation video games. A place where like minded can interact and work together to help create that for any sports game. SDS knows that so that is why they chose here to come and interact. Because they always did and still do strive for the most realistic experience possible with their game.
