It's a smart business decision, it just suck for people that only enjoy franchise and RttS. It's been this way for years and over the last few iterations it's become clear just how neglected franchise mode is in sports games.

For The Show it's quite clear in the fact that they literally have one guy that works on franchise mode that works for them. They don't have a team, and they don't dedicated time to it. One single dude, that's it.
More than one person worked on franchise mode in MLB '21.

      Re: Carry Over Saves

well, we ought to be hearing soon whether or not we can carry-over our Show 21 franchises to 22,
so the question begs to be asked:

if Show 22 doesn't bring back carry-over saves, will you
      A) stick with Show 21 for another year
      or
      B) buy Show 22 and restart a franchise for a third straight year.

(I liked it better when this wasn't even a question )

FWIW, I've already decided I'll be buying Show 22 day one and either restart a new franchise or if carry-over returns,
definitely make good use of the feature and get a fresh schedule in my franchise as a plus

after we hear who's on the 22 cover, this should be the very next question Sony addresses in that will 22 have carry-over saves.
I don't even know what could be more important, other than possibly the release date.

My plan is to get the ps5 and buy 22 when its released. With or without carry over saves. I'm just gonna be honest I've bought every new version of the game I like it that much. I'm a sucker lol.

I'm the same way, I started buying the Show day one with Show 11 and have every year since, good bad and ugly

though I do hope there are plenty people out there with principles who won't buy this year w/o Carry-over Saves in 22,
enough so that Sony definitely brings it back for 23.

No doubt, carry over saves is being gone is a HUGE disappointment.

Buying or not isn't a question as I am a collector of video games, especially baseball games, so I'd be surprised if there is a baseball video game made that I don't have in my collection.

Whether I restart or continue with '21 if no Y2Y saves will depend on what '22 offers that '21 doesn't and if its enough to start over. Same process I had with '20 into '21. '21 was a significant upgrade in gameplay (fielding mainly) and franchise that I made the decision to restart. With the real sport in lockout and SDS having a release date they are going to hit regardless, I would imagine that franchise will be essentially the same foundation wise, so it will be interesting to see what quality of life upgrades if receives. I have a personal bucket list of things I'd like to see added for me to warrant me restarting again.

So that is what it will come down to for me, how much different/better is '22 than '21 both on the field, but maybe more importantly this year, in franchise mode.

                Re: Carry Over Saves

I think I will continue to ride with 20 until I have had time to read everyone’s thoughts on 22.
Last year was the first year I have not purchased the show since 07.
Lack of carryover saves, night games issue, bugs etc. had a lot to do with that plus I’m still playing on a ps4 pro.
MLB 20 is a very good game and has kept me content.

It's kind of disheartening to think of all the time I spend months 18 hour days to try to get 400 players onto the new game.
I wonder how long it would take the producers of this game to make it so we can carry over to the next game?

                        Re: Carry Over Saves

And for the record, the biggest issue with carry over saves was the COVID year where rosters jumped to 26 and total org roster sizes jumped from 90 to 93.

They tested and tweaked with rosters for months trying to make it so carry-overs wouldn't bug the game, but that wart of rosters jumping from 90 to 93 couldn't be fixed in time for the new game's release.

this doesn't jibe. Show 19 had 90 man rosters and 25 man MLB rosters but carried over great into Show 20, which had 93 man rosters and 26 man MLB rosters (as well as 26 AAA & AA rosters).

so SDS couldn't figure out how to carry-over those Show 20 93 man rosters into the Show 21 93 man rosters? doesn't sound right

20 still has 90 man rosters. They just bumped each level to 26 and only have 12 players in A ball. The jump to 93 didn't happen until 21.

I do think it they want to increase roster size and that the player number on the roster was the culprit (or one of them in my opinion) that this is the year they would increase roster size if their intention is to bring back carryover. It would mean 2023 for carryovers to return but those 2 things could bring some people (like me) back who returned to 20 and are on the pass list for 22.
