One, Sony has an agreement with the MLBPA. The Show is not just an MLB game....its an MLB/MLBPA game. All the writer has to do is look at the back of the box to see the MLB Players logo which indicates that they have a MLBPA license.

Assuming Sony's license is still active (which it likely is), Sony has the right to use the player's image and likeness in the game....no matter if there is a lockout or not.

Two, the lockout has no connection to the game. MLB no longer has a CBA with the MLBPA. Thats why you arent seeing MLB use player images right now. Sony has an agreement with both so they will likely be able to use both the MLB IP and the MLBPA IP and player likenesses no matter what.

Three, if the game is delayed, it will be because Sony doesnt want to release a game when baseball is dark not because they cant release the game.

Ive never seen a game cancelled because of a threat of a lockout. NBA 2k12 released on time during the 2011 lockout.

Madden 12 regularly announced features and previewed the game during the 2011 NFL lockout. Even though the lockout ended 2 weeks before release, EA never indicated that they were planning to delay or cancel that version.

NHL never released during a lockout but they released multiple games days before a lockout was announced and when the entire world knew one was coming.

I would bet my house that Sony still releases the game on time even if there are no games. It may not have a ton of updates. It may focus more on classic teams, players and stadiums (like 2k did during the NBA lockout) but the game is coming out.

NHL 05 and NHL 2k5 were released during the 2004-05 lockout season. I bought NHL 05 just because of the World Cup of Hockey Mode and was the last in the series to have authentic uniforms for the national teams until NHL 17 because it had the World Cup of Hockey as well.

Even way back in 1995 during the players strike World Series Baseball 95 was released on Sega a few weeks before the season started.

NBA 2k12 was released during the short lockout and it wasn't until after the season started that a roster update came out.

Now for MLB 22 in regards to the new Guardians uniforms, hopefully they are in. They're pretty much the same as the previous set, just tweaked and the home white/red alternate will have a red bill on the batting helmet. Also still holding out hope that they're previous throwback uniforms (1989 Major League/1994 Home/Away/Alternate) will still be in the game of course the previous name will have to be deleted.

I don't think they have official jerseys yet

I have decided to stop playing MLB 21 and take a break for a while so that it builds up my excitement for 22 and not burn myself out on 21 before then and not worry about if Y2Y saves are in and just get 22 on day one this time.
I believe the Guardians have the exact same uniforms as last season. Indians is just replaced with Guardians. And they have a new font for the C on the cap and Cleveland on the road jerseys. They’re keeping the same colors, and the red alternates for home and navy on the road.

My understanding is a lockout will not prevent the game from being released. The NBA had a lockout and delayed start to the season and NBA 2K was still released on time.

I think the bigger issue is if the lockout continues into March and or April. This may prevent any rule changes from being implemented in the game. Anyone who has paid attention to baseball saw this lockout coming from a mile away. In a perfect world SDS would have also seen this as a potential issue and taken this dev cycle to make as many settings/rules to be edited by the user.

I honestly feel like they can even get "rules" in the game, but the logic won't be based around those skills which could be just as bad.

Say the MLB as a 7th and 8th seed and but the logic only recognizes that 6 teams make it so the 8th seed starts a fire sale lol

They need to build something like the Universal DH into the game since it’s basically a lock.

Assuming you're a Mets fan too. Who would you have DH?

I don't see why a lockout would effect The Show. Except for service time and other rules not being in '22.

Personally and I know that I am in the minority but I don't think there is going to be Baseball in '22. This is all playing out just like '94 and I think the results will be the same.

There's no way they'll cancel the season.

Missing ST games, I dont see them caring as much.

We really should start having a game and people predict the exact date everything gets resolved.

I say it happens sometime like March 4 (the good old "late Friday afternoon news drop").

1 week of team camps, 2 weeks of ST, and go into the regular season as scheduled on March 31.

                    Yes, that's real optimistic.

and more importantly, not only do they not make money but they have to pay money back from tv contract. They'll put scabs on the field before they play no games lol

Hopefully after the concessions the Union/players made, the owners will offer something to appease the union/players tomorrow.

If not, we may end up at the starting line again.

Yup! Ive seen all the people in the know saying dont expect anything major now. Neither side has any sense of urgency to get a deal done immediately.

I don't think anyone is expecting a deal to be announced in the coming days, but the fact they are meeting so quickly after meeting today is a sign that both sides understand that time is getting critical and that they must (and I'd argue they do) have an idea of where the middle ground is in the negotiations to get a deal done.

I honestly thought they would meet today and at best again in a week after the owners went back discussed and came up with a counter proposal.

Tomorrow will be a telling sign, in my opinion, of just how close we are to getting this thing settled.
