Re: MLB lockout
It would be very fitting of this situation for everybody to prematurely declare baseball dead b/c off the lockout only for them to come to an agreement before missing any games....thus alienating fans who have already assumed that baseball is dead.
Seems like the the drama created by the talking heads (and the message forums--myself included) is often worse than whatever sticky situation baseball gets into it

Re: MLB lockout
I was thinking that too. Manfred was expecting to announce spring training to be delayed but didn't. So the owners must feel like they have a good offer for the players that will put them close. But I'm sure the owners thought their first offer was a good offer as well.
If the offer meets the players in the middle...they will be in good shape for a deal next week. But if they are only raising their offer $5M at a time when they are $100M apart, then they aren't going to be anywhere close.
I have a feeling that Saturday's offer will determine if the season will start on time.

Re: MLB lockout
I did originally say middle of February but last week I doubted my self completely as 'no chance' but now it COULD happen. let's hope we get this crap over with. it will make it so much more exciting for the game come April. my brain hasn't switched to baseball yet usually it has by now but the Super bowl is a week later and this lockout crap. so I am hoping everything is just 1 week behind lolComment

Re: MLB lockout
Here in Illinois in the middle of winter you look forward to pitchers and catchers reporting. Means spring is right around the corner. Now it’s like okay we just have winter. LolFollow me on Twitch

Re: MLB lockout
Wow. Players want $100M in bonus pool money and owners started at $5M and went to $10M. Now this supposedly good offer from the owners raised it to $15M. I’m sure the players are like this is what you came up with at the meetings? I don’t see anything in the offer that made the owners give enough to make the players come closer.Follow me on Twitch

Re: MLB lockout
Yeah, at this point they need to be at the table everyday until a deal is made. Not one hour meetings once a week.Follow me on Twitch

Re: MLB lockout
I think it’s all but certain that the regular season will be delayed. They aren’t coming to an agreement by the end of this month. Reports from today say they’re still miles apart. I’m equally p***ed at both sides at this point. One hour meetings once every 11 days isn’t going to cut it.Comment

Both sides are really betraying the fans trust at this point. I’m not going to lie, I really love baseball and I know I’ll be there when games start but a part of me would love the fans to punish them some.
But I’m not ready to walk away yet.

Re: MLB lockout
You wonder how many owners would honestly be okay with no season in 22. Just to make sure they get what they want. The teams that would want a season would be the contenders like the Yankees and Dodgers.
They don’t realize that people don’t need baseball or the entertainment it brings these days. There are more to choose from now than back in 1994. And they wonder why attendance is going down.Follow me on Twitch
