Biggest thing for me will be what if any changes or additions they make to franchise as that is where I spend all my time.

This. Exactly. The schedule in franchise is just a giant data table. Same with the spring training schedule. While not a perfect solution, just take the last six years of actual MLB schedules, the current year, and create two others (so factor of nine, divisible by three division).

Then code each being series 0-8 to tell the game when to “select” the schedule and then just repeat. Sure the schedule will be exactly the same in year 1 as it is in year 10, but there would be 9 years of different schedules with “rotating” inter league each year and able to play through east central and west division, rather than the same east teams each year (also, who would really notice year 1 and 10 being the exact same. I’d be willing to make concessions just to have some sort of rotating schedule).

In all fairness I’m sure it’s more complicated than this solution, but I wouldn’t make it a week in my job without thinking outside the box and finding a way to get things done sometimes. At some point, it’s better to get things in the game, refine, let the user base test and so on, then it is to completely ignore entire feature sets as being too difficult and intrusive to implement.
