Too bad this isn't available in Europe, always the same thing...

Glad they're doing this again. The one last year was very underwhelming on series x. Thought I had the last gen version of the game, only to realize they just didn't touch the graphics for next gen. Hope this one is better, but it's nice to get a free opportunity to try it before buying - especially with franchise being left out of the reveals.

The Switch download is now available on the e-shop. No sign of Playstation yet (and I don't have XBOX to check that)

The download, even just the Tech Test, is pretty large as Switch titles go - 10.7 GB (for comparison, Breath of the Wild is 14.4)

PS4/5 are now up as well. On a PS5 search "mlb" on the store, find the main MLB '22 page (red background - can't miss it), then select the three-dot icon next to the purchase button. You'll see the tech test listed there - it will show as PS5, but you'll have the option to download the PS4 version as well on the next confirmation screen.

It's probably a similar process to get there on a PS4.

PS5 size is 24.8 GB. I'm not downloading the PS4 version to check that one (at least not right away).

Excited to give it a try. With all the snow supposed to be coming in Chicago tomorrow our office is closed, so I'll have some time to play tomorrow.

Started my download on the PS5 via the PSN app. Thanks for the heads up Cruise.

For anyone at home after it downloads can you click on anything or see anything on what the tech test has ?

Downloaded and offline (practice and options explorer) are available. There's a new feature you'll see in practice mode where you can anchor your PCI starting position to one of - essentially - the 9 strike zone sections.

For the non-cluttered screen crowed, this doesn't have a lot of value, but for those that use PCI and adjust pre-pitch position it's a really nice feature.

Good to know. Options Explorer basically lets you jump into a full game once you've finished choosing the options (which interfaces you're using, mostly), so it's nice to know that's still available offline.

Edit: I don't have the test downloaded yet (any version), I'm only speaking about what I know of Options Explorer from previous titles.

Good call out - and it's the same this year. Teams are HOU vs ATL - you can pick one of the available stadiums. User will be asked to finalize settings for gameplay or you can skip right to the game and update setting from pause menu.

                      Great to know!
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Last year you could pick your favorite team and then take your favorite team and face the Dodgers in one of the 3 different stadiums.

                          Just started a game.

First thought looks almost exactly like 21,20,19 and so on!

I downloaded the PS5 version but it sure looks like a PS4 version to eyes.

The crowd audio does sound better then it does in 20 which is the version I still play. I never played 21 so I can not compare to that.

But one thing is very clear MLB The Show is in need of a major face lift!

Gameplay seem much better then 20 too.

Pretty disappointed in how little improvement there is in the visuals on PS5. One little touch that I do like is seeing the selected fielder's name under them when the ball is in play on defense. I'd like to see that extended to when I'm on offense as well so I can know at a glance if I should or shouldn't run on an outfielder.
