What’s everyone going to do being the lock out
How is everyone going to play 22 game with the rosters going to be so incomplete with no signings. I want to play a franchise but don’t know how to handle all the free agents. This stinks. Just curious what everyone is going to do.Tags: None -

Rosters don't bother me. It's my own fantasy world! -

I’ll be placing FA’s on the teams they are mostly be rumoured to sign with or the teams I believe are the best fits.

I was kinda thinking about doing that or possibly looking into one of the fictional rosters but I didn’t know much about them.Comment

Still on the fence if I will have them sign on teams or if I will have them join teams later in the season when they actually doMets Baseball, All Day Every Day

Re: What’s everyone going to do being the lock out
I've always done 30 team control so that I can do the real life player movements. The unsigned will just have to sit in the FA pool until they're signed. It will make for some interesting team records until then. No problem for me.Comment

Re: What’s everyone going to do being the lock out
If we get the lockout roster at launch with all the unsigned FAs (fingers-crossed), I'm going to go through and manually assign them to teams before starting my franchise.
The focus will be on having some fun with it....stuff that wouldn't happen IRL like Correa/Freeman both signing with Pittsburgh or maybe some fun storylines (like Greinke returning to KC for a final season).Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

I do know that a lot of guys like the rosters to be exact, but I say have some fun with it. If you don't want to do a fantasy draft, you could still just move guys around and make it an alternate baseball world. Especially if you're planning on playing multiple seasons.
Just get a roster, do whatever you want to do in terms of balancing and so on, and fire it up...Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

I'll never understand the "exact roster" folks. The very second you start a franchise mode, you are no longer apples-to-apples. The mode has tons of different dynamics than real life (some by design, some by just the nature of it being a video game, etc.). Just the simple fact we don't have a complete minor league (I'm assuming that has not changed this year) completely changes player valuation metrics alone, which fundamentally changes everything...I mean...why obsess over comparisons to real life?

Agreed.
I spent several YEARS waiting for OSFM, restarting franchises because some trade took place in real life or some prospect got called up that wasn’t on my roster. So much time wasted within franchise rather than customizing the roster for me and just rolling with it.

1. I only play ONE season w/I franchise mode and then hang it up until next year.
2. I’m a graphics whore and cannot look at this beautiful game with a bunch of gargoyle looking creations generated by SDS.
3. Making the trades is part of the FUN of this game, and I’m glad for the roster control. I see complaints in franchise mode of some of the awful trades and it can’t be reversed.
Options. Love them.Comment

You can do those three things with any roster out there...Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
