Considering it’s just their second year on Xbox and first on Nintendo it’s probably a good thing, actually.

I use directional/classic with full clean-screen and no controller vibration for both franchise and DD.

Same for me. It's the best way to make the player stats matter, which is the whole point of building a team in Franchise.

I love the idea of rewarding a perfect throw, but my issue is that the throwing meter is too easy and also doesn't scale with difficulty settings so I usually just end up turning it off after a few games otherwise I rarely see any throwing errors.

Yeah I don’t know why they took the option out to change the fielding difficulty separately from the rest.

I think the meter should move quicker the worse the fielders attributes. So the better the fielder, the slower the throwing meter goes. I feel like that was a think in MLB 2K but I could be wrong

Yeah or a more variable meter where the green zones change etc. from play to play. They can certainly do more in the future to make fielding more enjoyable and have more variance.

Absolutely. The meter actually was more dynamic and variable at one point. I forget what year they changed it, but I keep hoping each year they'll go in and improve the meter itself.

They've done some excellent things with fielding since last year so hopefully they'll keep adding things.

I believe its tied in with hitting difficulty now...I could be wrong....I seem to remember noticing how much bigger bigher the green was when I played RTTS (I play on a lower difficulty than my franchise cuz who doesn't want to hit bombs with a video game version of themself ) even when though I kept pitching on the same level

You need to enter the mode first, then select fielding from practice type. It allows to to repeat any play you see in there, including the opportunity to rob home runs. I think it might be more useful for me while trying to make those tough catches that the game alerts you to being difficult.

I actually didn't know it was there because I only messed around in Options Explorer and vs the CPU in DD.
Just want to update to say messing around in this mode is already paying dividends. By being able to repeat the same hit over and over (which, because of the variance in fielder reaction time, is not always the exact same play or outcome) I learned that by and large, I dive too early and that's why the ball always seems to end up bouncing off the glove. There's usually a split second before most of those "extreme catch indicators" transition into a safe catch where the fielder slows down, and that's the timing window. Dive during that and a proper animation is triggered, even the feet-first forward sliding catches that I've never been able to do like the CPU does! It's risky though, because diving closer to "late" than "early" means you run the risk of the ball going completely past you before the dive.

Remember the scenario mode in the game a few years back that got ruined by people using it to farm stubs? This should have never been taken out. It's not the same in the sense that you can't choose an exact flight path for the ball, but eventually you'll roll a hit type that gives you the situation you want, and then you just click L3 once to run that play over and over.

My favorite reveal is that they're reducing contact on pitches outside the zone, which should reduce all those 8-10 pitch at bats that seem to happen 2 or 3 times a game. But, I think they need to balance this by making more contact swings on balls well in the zone result in balls in play instead of fouls. The main strength of the contact swing should be fouling off tough pitches on the black, but it shouldn't just be a "foul ball" button.

I love the meter would but would welcome an option like in NBA2k to turn the visual meter off and have the the accuracy of the throw be based on timing. Also maybe you could hold L1 for a max speed throw when you need some extra zip.

You can have meter on with no visual feedback.

I tried it out during the tech test because I noticed in 21 I had almost no throwing errors because I had the meter on. But looking back it was too cheesy and unrealistic so this year Im going to use meter (so it still has user input) but with no visual feedback so that it is more challenging and errors

That's how I played for most of 21. The only downside was that it turns off the freeze-frame catcher throwing meter and as a result every throw from home on a stolen base attempt is a perfect throw right to the glove. I do really like throwing based purely on feel though

Really? No meter makes everyone throw a perfect one? That does seem like it would be an issue.

Maybe adjusting stolen base ability slider up would help?
