Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
I play all 162 quick counts. I wait until about a month into the real season, I play various other modes and tweak sliders, cameras, etc. Then I download the must current and accurate roster file. I then play about a month behind the real season. I make all the trades, signings, out for the year type injuries, etc. in my franchise to mirror what happens in real life for just my team (Mets). Most years I complete a full season in about 10-11 months, so I'm ready for the next years version when it comes out. If I finish early, I'll download a current offseason roster, and play another new franchise season until the new game comes out. Been doing this since 2012 version of the game, quick counts was a welcome addition a few years back for sure!Comment

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
Manage mode. Every game, every pitch until my team is eliminated from the playoffs. My mlbts 21 Pirates relocated franchise is in April 2024 and I've played 493 of 498 games.
I use the Pirates because they have a low budget which makes it challenging and are in the NL Central.
I use self imposed trade restrictions to make it challenging. It isn't satisfying to win if you cheat to get there.
No intention of buying mlbts 22 because of the poor decision to not bring back year to year saves which is a topic that deserves its own thread. They already have the code for that. It's not like they would have to figure out new code to write. Still they chose to leave it out of mlbts 22. Poor decision.≡Comment

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
With year to year saves, I used to play every pitch, every inning and watch every cutscene. For me, I love watching the story of multiple seasons unfold. Now I try to play one game per series so I can still feel somewhat involved in the story.
I have ran into a happy problem with doing that though. My leadoff hitter is currently in the middle of a major hitting streak (40 games) and I just can't bring myself to sim any games. I was simming up until about 20 or so games into the streak but I've since taken over. I don't want the a.i to be the one to snap the streak.Black & Gold 4ever!Comment

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
Just a little math...
Working under the assumption that it takes about an hour (average) to play one game....
If you play 1 hr per day (average) - you can get through 2+ seasons in one year
If you play 2 hrs per day (average) - you can get through 4+ seasons in one year
If you play 3 hrs per day (average) - you can get through 6+ seasons in one year.
It IS possible to have a robust experience over multiple seasons without simming - should you have the time and desire to do so (and yes....I know many people don't...just saying it IS very possible - no judgments at all).Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Once my team is truly contending, I don't sim or quick manage at all.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Even more than having y2y saves in the past, I think an underappreciated feature is the ability to save mid game.
I sim because I don't like current rosters. I want my own stamp on things and my own fictional universe. While Bacon's roster is undoubtedly masterfully crafted, it is not something I have ever been able to invest in. I have tried and it is just not for me. I can sim into the future myself and watch new stars emerge. And have.
I can sim and build to year 6 or 11 or 16 or 21, etc and still play the current schedule with a universe I created thanks to the way schedules are done in this game. That is what my Indians future franchise I spent the last 4 years playing is.
--------
So I sim and build years into the future, usually year 6 or 11 so I get the current schedule, then play all 162 every inning every pitch.
I have decided to take the plunge into 22 and will be doing that with the Guardians.Funkycorm

But if playing manage only mode in The Show is enjoyable to you because you get to see the action play out in quality 3D, it may not be for you. Out of the Park does have 3D animations, but it is far from the quality of The Show.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
Egh, forum just ate my post. Anyway, was just going to say that I enjoy playing "Baseball God" and editing attributes manually. You can achieve more realistic sim stats by editing attributes. The devs should adjust this stuff so it's better out of the box, but there's a certain Zen to editing stuff if you like that sort of thing.Comment

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
I typically run 3-4 different style franchises. Some using Real Rosters and some Fantasy draft. Like adding my own Created teams and stadiums into the mix in my fantasy Roster chises.
I typically play every 6th game on the calendar.
So I can go thru my rotation 5-6 times during the season. As the season hits September i tend to play more games depending how my team is looking in the playoffs. If my team makes the playoffs, I play every game of the postseason.Last edited by JBoo2911; 03-25-2022, 12:24 PM.PSN- JBoo2911Comment
