Simply updating the grass and dirt would do this game well. The grass at basically all stadiums is awful, but playing at Truist last night in full broadcast camera, it's just jarring how bad the grass looks when you focus on it. It's more like the indoor outdoor green carpet you used to see on porches a lot and less like grass. And the resolution of the texture is seemingly way too low.

It feels like this is the same grass texture they've used since the PS3 days and I'm not trying to exaggerate. The dirt is also rough, but it isn't as bad as the grass. Both need updating.

Playing at Globe Life Field is probably the worse when it comes to grass. It just takes away from an otherwise beautiful game. Hopefully that will be next on the menu in the coming years.

Well, in fairness, Globe Life Field turf looking terrible is realistic. It's artificial and looks like shaggy green carpet irl.

Cameras in a broadcast of a MLB game are 100’s of feet away usually if not more…….how is the grass gonna be picked up flowing in the wind or something even when watching on TV? When the camera is more zoomed in or from a closer shot it doesn’t look that bad to me

I think it's the same. But honestly, I've gotten so used to it I don't even notice it anymore and it doesn't even bother me. But I do want them to make it better.

Every floor space in this game looks like it was made and created for the PS3. It's beyond awful at this point. You would think with so much modern tech and the ability to visit stadiums and get high-res photographs of everything that we would be seeing quite an upgrade on this year of next gen. But notta thing for the field really. Bizarre. But maybe in a couple years.

Sorry to say but their grass is absolutely jarring at this point. I can go back from the last PS3 version and there are literal shots that almost look the same. It's laughably bad. I just can't even focus on this game when it looks like this, but I will give them time. The dirt is slightly better, but this grass is just LOL at this point. It's like nobody on the dev team has any idea what they are doing with it. Color matching, density, tone, lighting, saturation... Grade F on all of them for the grass. Dirt is only slightly better. IDK anymore though. It's been a LONG time, and nothing has improved much. Modders could fix this kind of thing in a couple months to at least make it look decent. It just doesn't look like they have any logical plan or the talent to fix it.

I fired up The Show 22 on Series X this morning and yeah I feel underwhelmed. It pretty much looks identical to 21 on PS4. However the game does run way more smoothly and loading times are good. I’m sure there a bunch of little additional graphical details that won’t be seen until a lot of games are played though.

IMHO this game's graphics need to be overhauled from the ground up. The players are doing the same things from like 5 years ago where they are placing their hand on their helmets and it hovers several inches over it. The collision detection is nowhere near as good as it could be. Players walk right through the umps or each other. Gloves on tag plays go through a player. It just takes away from the what is supposed to be a realistic sim. There has been a huge improvement of the capture of a star player's face, but others look generic and boring. Why haven't these glaring errors been fixed after all of these years? The gameplay is fantastic, though!

And it's not like they have to do many trees here. Even just color matching fields to real world photographs would immensely improve the game. But nope, we got these brightened PS3 fields with blackened crosshatches everywhere. It's stunningly horrible.

I think it’s still this way to keep the game also on 60fps on the ps4 and so that crossplay works. Old gen is holding this (and other games) back.

It sucks that because of the chips shortage Sony can’t get the console on the shelves so they won’t let the ps4 go any time soon. The install base for the ps5 just isnt’t there yet to abandon the old gen.

I think it’s still this way to keep the game also on 60fps on the ps4 and so that crossplay works. Old gen is holding this (and other games) back.

All that just to say you’re gonna keep playing it [emoji23] man the last time I thought something was bad enough to make numerous posts about it (basically just saying the same thing over and over again) ……. I’d probably have gotten rid of it and moved on but that’s just me
