Grrrr....the reach back catch in the outfield is still there. Hoping this animation is removed soon

Re: MLB The Show '22 Impressions (PS4)

I am officially a PCI ANCHOR user. I love this feature. Funny in the tech test I wanted nothing to do with it. Playing now and I'm appreciating how it assists but not boost your hitting. I still strikeout, I still hit weak hits, I still pop up, I still swing and miss...etc....but this thing helps me stay focused on a section of the zone and I don't have to count so much on my reaction skills with the PCI to get to a pitch in a zone I'm looking.

        Nicely done SDS

Plays at the wall and up against the wall are a lot better this year, especially the animations that play out.

The crowd is a lot better too this year in reacting to what is happening on the field. Also helps that the commentators allow for dead air so you can hear the chants, chatter, and sounds of the ballpark.

This simply didn't/couldn't happen last year. Perfect throw from left fielder to 2nd base to get a below average runner Luken Baker going for what I thought was a sure double.

It's changes like this that make this game better on the field then '21.

An example of a new catch animation against the wall. How O'Neill shields to hit the padding of the wall is a nice touch

Also nice example of Boog's "excitement" calling the game

Re: MLB The Show '22 Impressions (PS4)

I reluctantly had to return to the office this morning for a meeting this afternoon so that I could be off again tomorrow

Sitting game modes aside (because I either didn't play them or get far enough into them to form a valid opinion) the game on the field with the presentation and commentary is impeccable. The past 3 days, despite self inflicted headaches in regards to my franchise, the game has been nothing short of enjoyable and addicting. I know some will say "well its new so...." and that is a valid statement, however I play MLB the show year round so its not like I've been waiting for 3 months, or two months, or 2 weeks even to play a baseball game again.

'22 on the field is without a shadow of a doubt, the best baseball experience that I have ever played. It does what I honestly didn't think it could do and that is better the gameplay in '21. Hitting, pitching, fielding, all received subtle changes that at first glance you may be like, "nothing is changed" but I assure you play 5, 10, 20 games and you'll start to appreciate the differences in '22 versus that of '21. Hell last night just for laughs, I fired up '21 to play a game just to keep myself honest of my opinion. I lasted 3 innings before I was like, I can't do this anymore. That's something. And it has nothing to do with the fresh presentation or commenatry, this is strictly the game on the field.

I could go on and on, but like I said I had to return to the office today so I actually should do something of worth here.

But I will say this. I hope everyone finds the same enjoyment, appreciation, and just plain fun that I have found in playing '22. And if you're on the fence about buying or not, if you get a chance to try it out, I recommend you do.

Its going to be a great year of baseball gaming with '22.

One thing I have noticed right away is that the number of last name audio files in the game for use with created players has been drastically reduced from about 5040 to about 1640! This for me is a giant step backwards and very disappointing!

Yup. Said this was going to happen when then changed the Broadcast Team. Figured they would loose most of the name data base.

Damn. I love so many aspects of the presentation revamp, but less names + no more MLB Network package are bummers.

But, since the name database heavily affects RTTS/Ballplayer users as well, I'm cautiously optimistic they'll build up the database again in the coming years.

Unfortunately it really does......and that is the price of finally getting the revamped presentation which BTW is fantastic and was sorely long overdue.

To progress the game you do have to sacrifice some things.....Y2Y was a huge loss (and still is and I really hope it returns) so I hope the game does advance more and this feature returns sooner rather than later.

                                Postives:

                                New commentary
                                Presentation
Gameplay (if anything its more difficult to hit so far)

                                Negatives:

Not a fan of the new glove sounds, some sound great others sound so fake and loud
                                Soundtrack is mediocre at best
