Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)

Question about Sliders, specifically how they apply to RTTS.

Most of the Slider settings I see are meant to apply to Franchise it seems, where a user will be controlling the entire team...but my question pertains to RTTS specifically.

I have 1 major issue (and multiple minor issues) with the way the AI works in RTTS that is really hurting my team's performance overall...

The major issue is that the pitching management is just...so bad. So many games we will be up 5 runs going into the 6th or 7th and just wind up losing 9-5. Doing some digging, I discovered that there are a ton of times that my starters are being left in the game WAY too long, or relievers are being hung out to dry over multiple innings, or my WORST reliever is being put in in a close game with bad matchups.
Is there anything I can do to try and remedy this?

The minor issues are smaller things...such as trades, but I don't think there's any fixing the trade logic, only the frequency...

Is there a way to nerf CPU fielders a bit? I feel like double plays happen with an unrealistic amount of frequency, and there's like 78 OVR 3rd basemen making insane throws to first, preventing anyone that isn't 90+ speed from getting infield hits.

Also, I have been unable to find solid answers on this - are my CPU teammates affected by CPU sliders? Do the sliders even work when I'm not "observing" the game? I.e. I'm not on base or batting. Do they work when I AM observing? Whether I am watching from the dugout, batting or directly fielding.

I play on the Guardians and I know they aren't superstars or anything, but there's no reason we should be in last place for 4 years straight. Shane Bieber is a 96 overall on my 4th full season and his ERA is like 4.8. Some of my other starters are well over 5 ERA and they're rated anywhere from 78-86 OVR...the relievers are average to decent as well, with Emmanuel Clase at a 93 OVR and he's blown like 9 saves so far this season.

Is there a way to create franchises or seasons of just 6 teams? Ever since I was a little kid playing Strat in my bedroom, I have played out seasons of leagues made up of all-star teams of each division.

          Unfortunately not.

Season mode no longer exists and franchise mode doesn't allow for that type of customization

What's the maximum number of roster files we can save this year? More than the ten slots we had last year?
MLB: San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics (Sell The Damn Team, Fisher!)
            NFL: San Francisco 49ers
            NHL: San Jose Sharks
            MLS: San Jose Earthquakes
            EPL: Brentford FC

              That’s what I figured. Bummer.

The one aspect of the sim era I really do miss is the easy custom leagues, for both solo and online play. It’s all the franchises.

Curious.... Is anyone playing their franchise strictly on Dynamic Difficulty (hitting AND pitching)? I've never really tried it much other than to get locked into Allstar+ ..... How is it working for you, and do the stats and hot/cold streaks balance out well? I'm thinking of trying it, but I'm hesitant since I've never really used it much before. Thanks.

I was messing around with sliders and then I decided to just go with straight Dynamic Difficulty and see how that went.

I'm only like a week into my season. Played 7 MLB games and my first 3 Triple A. And so far I like it. I started on All-Star+ for both. Up to Hall of Fame for pitching. Hit a crazy bad slump hitting wise. A week and a half ago, I was hitting on default Hall of Fame without too much issue. And then something broke in my brain, I guess, and I couldn't hit anymore. Fell all the way to Veteran. Had a good game tonight, though, scored 9 runs, had 13 hits and 7 extra base hits and I'm up to Veteran+ on the cusp of All-Star again.

I dabbled with it in RTTS last year, and it seems like it works a lot better this year. Last year it felt really rare to move down in difficulty. I remember I somehow got up to HoF last year despite hitting under .200. But so far this year, I like it. I'm going to stick with it for a while.

Sounds good. Do you have the Dynamic sensitivity slider on default?

For now I do, but I'm planning on lowering it to 3 so it moves a little slower.

This seems like a really stupid question to ask after playing this game since '06 but how do I add a secondary position in RTTS to my player? I can't find it anywhere. I thought I had added it in creation but there is nothing there now.

I’d argue your best bet is to just give it a strong go (30+ games) yourself. I have seen very little evidence to suggest there’s anyone who has put in a full 162 games on dynamic to be in position to answer this question. Every thread about it is just about “locking in” some sort of “sweet spot” and never about letting it play out.

I’m curious too just haven’t had the patience because I don’t really like how the game feels on HOF and higher.
                            Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

Does anyone know if you can turn off the trade deadline in franchise mode? I thought you could do it in prior games, but I can’t find the option anywhere.
