Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)
Were there any AI Logic improvements from 21 to 22 in regards to Roster Lineups/Promotion/Demotions?
I'm messing around in 21 playing a kinda Career mode where I player lock a specific player throughout a whole season with all management set to Auto.
Its currently August and I've been platooning with a player who has been hitting under .200 all season long (currently .175), while I have the 3rd best OPS and second best AVG on the team.
Kinda shocked they haven't sent him down to Triple-A at this point or moved him to a bench bat. They have him platooning against RHP and he currently is the 3rd worst again RHP while Im 3rd best.
Seems like the AI is entirely or greatly basing the lineup on attribute statistics and very little on actual performance.Last edited by Stolm; 06-28-2022, 04:51 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)
I just got a PS5 and The Show on Saturday. I haven't played The Show in 4 or 5 years.
I set up a dummy Franchise to test sliders. I'm about 2.5 weeks into the season and not one player in all of baseball is on the Injured List.
Surely, something is amiss with my Settings (Injuries are on and the slider is at 5 for both played and simmed games). What am I missing (or is this an extreme fluke)?
Thanks in advance for any pointers.

if CPU Roster Control is On, all injuries will automatically be 'Off' as well as Trades also tooOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)
I've never completely grasped the concept of CPU Roster Control. If it is OFF does that mean I have to do all of the tinkering (40 man, AAA, AA, A) myself? I was trying to not have to do that stuff in a dummy Franchise that I only set up to test Sliders.
Can I set it up so that I just play the games and the CPU does all of the off-field duties (but injuries still occur)?
Is there a comprehensive explanation of CPURC (or Franchise settings in general) somewhere to help a noob or someone like me who is returning after a long hiatus?
Thanks!
EDIT: I watched a video and realized CPU Roster Control allows ME to control the CPU teams rosters. The name can be deceptive a I take "CPU Roster Control" to mean the CPU controls my roster.
I remember being confused by this years ago.
Thanks for your help!

Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)
I likely did.
You can confirm this if you go to the "Acquisitions" drop down menu (the handshake icon in the top right). If CPU Roster Control is turned on that option will show up here, and cannot be disabled. If it is off, you will not see that menu option.

It's the opposite - turning it off lets the CPU teams function independently. Having it on also disables trading and budgets along with injuries - that option is meant more for those who want to adjust the league manually as time goes on in real life. This is different from the 30-team control thing you hear about on this board sometimes - that involves having CPU Roster control off, but assigning a profile to every CPU team in the league so that you can override the CPU's decision making if you choose. This thread by Armor & Sword explains the 30-team control process (it's the purple text quite a ways down in the post):
I thought that info used to be stickied in the main forum but now that's the only place I can find it.

Yup, that's just turning the CPU Roster Control off. It's only a one-shot deal at the very beginning of the franchise though (which shouldn't be a problem because this is a test franchise, right?)

Hmm...I think the on-screen descriptions do a good job of explaining the different settings for the most part (the CPU Roster Control option displays on screen that it will disable trades, injuries, and budgets for example). The post I linked to above has a lot of good information as well, along with Armor's entire setup - a lot of that can be applied to any style of play, not just his clean screen classic pitching/directional hitting approach.
Thanks!

Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)
Thanks for your help. I get it now and it's not a problem because, as you said, this is a test Franchise.
I should have read the description carefully but I still think the name "CPU Roster Control" is a poor choice of words.
Literally right below it is "CPU Trading" which, if turned ON, lets the CPU handle its own trades.
So...
CPU Roster Control: ON = You do it
CPU Trading: ON = CPU does it

Thank you all for the help!

Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)
Question I've had for awhile: Can created players (such as players I've drafted in franchise) have quirks? I've never made it far enough in a franchise to find out.
Thanks in advance!Comment

Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)
but there are two type quirks
the kind that are directly solely tied to attribute ratings are the ''easiest'' type quirk your player can get. the first type quirk is largely symbolic and just shows how well your player is playing in a certain area, like such as Bomber, get your player to high enough attribute rating in Power, you get that quirk (or badge)
the other type quirks are the ones I don't know if they naturally or randomly occur or if there is something deeper that causes them to develop, like Ralley Monkey, Road Warrior and Pickoff ArtistOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

short answer, yes, most definitely

Is there a way to turn on ignore budget once you're already in franchise mode?Comment

Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)
Sort of an odd question but one that has been bugging me: is there a way to switch pitchers in-between innings? For example, if I want to put my closer in to start the bottom of the 9th inning while I'm still batting in the top of the 9th, can I put the pitcher "in the game" (even though I'm still batting) so that when the bottom half starts, he's already on the mound?
Not sure if my question is clear (or even important), but it sort of annoys me that I seem to have to wait until the start of the inning with my previous pitcher still on the mound, then go to the bullpen and put the closer in the game, as opposed to the closer just starting the inning on the mound.Comment

I can't remember the exact wording when at the bullpen screen, but when you select a pitcher who's warming up and the options pop up, one is SCHEDULE TO PITCH or something along those lines.
Select that and the pitcher will be on the mound at the start of the next half inning.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show Q&A Thread (PS4)
I have been playing all year with the PS5 version. I just now for fun started up the PS4 version and did some SOTS. But something just seems off or different from the PS5 version. But I can’t put my finger on it. Is the presentation, sound, or crowd reaction or noise different? It plays the same obviously but just something seems off. Does anyone know for sure what is different?Follow me on Twitch
