    2023 Arizona Diamondbacks 06/30

overall record:57-25 (1st NL West, 6.0 over LA Dodges)

D-Backs end historic month with a bang

The Arizona Diamondbacks just finished what may be the best calendar month in MLB history (baseball almanac says the 1916 Yankees went 29-5 in September of that year???). With balls flying off their bats in the last game of the month, against the San Francisco Giants, Arizona secured their twenty-second victory of the month as opposed to just four losses.

Arizona won the first game of their series against the Giants by a score of 11-5 as they got homeruns from Ketel Marte (2), Carson Kelly, Pavin Smith, Daulton Varsho and Sergio Alcantara.

Marte's home two home runs gives him 26 on the year as he trys to keep pace with Kelly who now has 28. Pavin Smith's two run homerun in the 3rd inning was his only hit in his first game after missing extended time with an injury.

Speaking of Smith's return, Jordan Lawlar went down in Arizona's last series and was placed on the 10-day injured list. When he returns, Arizona will have to make a decision on who to send back down to triple-A Reno. The likely canidate at this time is Stone Garrett despite him having a decent power bat (10 homers in 53 games). His .219 average is by far the worst on the team thus far into the season.

Arizona will look to keep the momentum going as they enter the month of July and race toward the All-Star break.

The Jays Fantasy Draft 2027 Season - Mid Season Report

Brought back team legend Stanton to a small 2 year deal which may see him end up retiring as a Jay. Traded Mookie and Shane Baez for Juan Soto.

Soto has been an absolute monster, 34 HR into the All Star Break. Urias, Bichette, Vladdy, Soto all All Stars this season along with young pitching phenom Jess Walker who has had already 2 complete game shut outs.

Two rookie SP to the rotation in Santiago Puliado and Reggie Russel. Russel was struggling and has been moved down to AA and Andrew Painter is being brought up to the majors to replace him. Josh Hader has been choking and has been moved down to AA in favor of rookie Ken Dennis who was drafted a few years ago, he looks very promising. My bullpen has been a choke fest not sure whats going on.

The first time in my franchise where the Jays are not running away with the AL East, this year the Rays are fighting and are in first.

The Dodgers have been one of my favourite teams to follow in this franchise, they have had a crazy farm of young talent and they kept the really good ones but now after returning to the postseason last year they are going all in. Last year they got Rafael Devers and this year they have traded for Cedric Mullins and Jallen Miller from rebuilding Orioles and Yankees respectively. They are currently 2nd in the NL West to the Rockies.

This may be my last season with the Jays, I'll see what other offers I get. I think this will be the year where I get other offers to join other teams. I've done everything I could with this team, built a farm of great talent that will get a chance to come up to the majors and be stars, but also already got very strong stars on the main roster. Would love to possibly go to teams that have been bottom feeders through out this entire franchise mode in Cardinals, Padres or someone else like the Mariners.

Edit: It sucks that you can't pick a team to go to after your contract ends or you dont get diverse options. You basically get options for teams in the same tier as you.

        2023 Arizona Diamondbacks 07/01-07/02

Overall Record:59-25 (1st NL West 7.0 over LA Dodgers

New month, same results for D-Backs

The Arizona Diamondbacks swept the San Francisco Giants in their first series in July. The Diamondbacks won game's one and two by the scores of 11-5 and 5-1. Game three wasnt any better for San Fran as they entered game three in what was going to be a bullpen game anyway with twenty-four year old R.J. Dabovich on the mound. The hope for the Giants was that Dabovich could get at least three innings to spare some of their bullpen which had already pitched 13 of the 18 innings in the first two games.

Unfortunately for San Francisco, that plan did not come to fruition as Dabovich suffered a back injury after just the second pitch of the game. That forced the exhausted bullpen into action even earlier then expected and Josh Rojas welcomed Jose Alvarez to the game with a solo HR that gave Arizona the 1-0 lead. To add insult to injury, San Francisco optioned Dabovich back to triple A after the game.

The offense would keep it going enroute to a 20 hit 14-4 victory.

Arizona has now swept their last two series to end June and start July. Those sweeps came against the Rockies and Giants who Arizona now has again back to back with two series on the road. First will be against the Rockies in a short two game set then the team will travel to California for a four game series Vs. the Giants.

I'm moving Seth Lugo to a SP since IRL he's going to get the chance to start with SD this year. What would be an approprate stamina for him in my franchise? He's currently at 26.

The Nationals, now 37-67, were swept by the Dodgers. Game 1 almost witnessed a no hitter by Walker Buehler until Brady House dropped a base hit into center with one out in the ninth. The second game saw Erick Fedde pitch his best game of the season dueling with Clayton Kershaw and striking out eight. This game would go into extra innings and see the Dodgers pull it off in the 10th. Game three was a one-sided affair, the Dodgers offense finally woke up, scoring 5, and Julio Urias was dominant, going the distance and only giving up two hits. In total, the Nationals scored two runs in the three game series, both of them in the second game.

The Nationals now get an off day to travel back to Washington to face the Cardinals and begin a long stretch of games against several playoff contenders. This may actually be the toughest stretch of the season for them.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

We'll wrap up April 2023 with a three-game series against the Mets in Atlanta. We're currently 11-8 and in third place in the East, a game behind the Mets and two behind the Nationals. This season has definitely been more of a struggle so far, but it's been a lot of fun.

Still tinkering with the roster, making three more minor trades.

We acquired utility man Danny Santana from Cleveland for a low-level prospect. The 32-year-old Santana hasn't played in the big leagues since 2020, but was off to a strong start at Triple A. With him, Leury Garcia and Michael Chavis, we have the most versatile bench in the league. Billy McKinney was optioned to Gwinnett to make room on the 26-man roster. But the acquisition of Santana meant we had to clear a spot on the 40-man, so ...

We traded Josh Rojas to Arizona for Chris Guerrero in a swap of third basemen. If that sounds familiar it's because we made the exact same trade - but in reverse - last season. We bring back our 2021 first-round draft pick. Rojas just never could find a spot with us, but he'll be the D-Backs' every day third baseman now. Guerrero is still a few years away from the big leagues, but he's got time since we're pretty well set with Austin Riley.

We also swapped a pair of hard-throwing Texas pitchers with the White Sox. We acquired Michael Kopech with Kyle Muller going back to Chicago. Each pitcher is out of options after this season. Kopech last pitched in the majors way back in 2018. We like his 99-MPH fastball, and we had a glut of left-handed pitching prospects. The White Sox were using him as a reliever, but we're going to utilize him as a stater at Gwinnett. Though the bullpen may ultimately be his ticket to Atlanta.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

                Simply speechless

As the Jays season is winding down, they caught on fire to take back the lead in the AL East over the Rays but at a cost. For the 4th time in my 6 years with this team, I have lost key contributors in the last month that will end up missing the playoffs. Rookie starting pitcher and ROY favourite Santiago Puliado will be out for 1-2 months, at best could return to ALCS. Alex Kirillof is out for the remainder of the season after getting injured. This gives opportunity for Julio Rodriguez to possibly show that he can be the permanent replacement possibly as Kirilloff will be a FA this off season.

The team really caught on fire though in the last month finishing the season for the 3rd straight year with 100+ wins. 103 this year. The Defending champs Tigers have made it to the wildcard they will play Tampa. Funnily enough we might have a Jays-Tigers match for the THIRD straight year in the ALDS. They beat the Jays 3-1, 3-0 the past couple years. The Dodgers who were going all in in the trade deadline MISSED the playoffs. The AL is loaded almost the exact same teams showing up for the 3rd straight year except for the Rays (White Sox, Rangers, Tigers, Jays) all been in the playoffs last 3 years. Tough competition.

Juan Soto was a MONSTER, .316 AVG 61 HR 129 RBI easy MVP winner.

Edit: Tigers are elminated! We've got the Rays in the ALDS. Bregman, Swanson looking ready for the Jays.

Edit #2: After trailing 2-0 in the ALDS the Rays comeback to win 3 straight to beat the Jays 3-2 in the series.

It's crazy how for the 3rd straight year 100+ wins still ends up in a loss in the ALDS. And each one of those years Bo Bichette was the last player at bat. The bullpen ended up being the weakpoint for this squad. Not much more I can do. This team is stacked. 3 straight years of losing to the wild card team in the ALDS. I think it's time to leave. The squad will be crazy even on just AI. Might be time for a fresh start with someone else.

The Rays win the WS beating the Rockies (3rd NL Pennant in 6 years of this franchise mode). 2nd straight year the team that beat the Jays wins the WS.

San Antonio, TX (AP) - The San Antonio Javelinas won the inaugural IBL World Series, defeating the Surprise Saguaros four games to two.

The Surprise Saguaros grabbed the opener in San Antonio 5-3 with some ninth inning heroics. David Justice stole home with the go ahead run as the visitors pulled out a dramatic victory in game one.

Surprise would take a 1-0 lead in the second on a Ramos RBI single to right. Ken Hollinger then homered to left in the third to make it 2-0. An Everett RBI single to center in the top of the sixth put the Saguaros up 3-0.

But the Javelinas would claw their way back into this one. Emil Palmeiro doubled to left scoring Zach Lamb and Sam Morgan singled home Palmeiro to cut the Saguaros lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth. Lamb would then homer to right in the seventh to tie the game at 3-3.

In the ninth, Everett doubled to open the inning and David Justice came in to pinch run. After Smith got a strikeout and ground out, Justice would steal home and scored on a failed bunt attempt from Jaime Hernandez to put the Saguaros up 4-3. Hernandez would then hit the next pitch into the left field bleachers to make it 5-3.

Maury Keith would pitch the ninth to pick up his fifth post-season save.

The Javelinas would respond in game two as they came away with a 6-1 victory to even the series at 1-1. Two-run homers from Sam Morgan and David Hernandez in the eighth broke this one open as send the series back to Arizona tied.

Brian Gonzalez hit a RBI single in the second and a solo home run in the seventh to put the Javelinas up 2-0. The two home runs made it 6-0 before Surprise would get one back in the top of the ninth on an Albert Ruiz sacrifice fly.

Andres Montoya (2-1) would go the distance for San Antonio, allowing one run on five hits. He struck out four and walked two.

Surprise returned home and dominated game three as they won 8-1. The Saguaros hit four home runs including two from Tim Ferreira as he went 2 for 3 with the two solo home runs to help Surprise grab the series lead.

Surprise would put this one away in the fifth inning on a Ken Hollinger two-run blast. Alberto Ruiz, the DL MVP, would hit a solo home run in the sixth to make it 4-0. Ferriera’s first was immediately after Ruiz’s homer and Surprise was on their way.

Ray Russell (2-1) picked up the win, pitching six innings and allowing no runs and three hits, striking out four and walking four.

San Antonio evened the IBL World Series at two games apiece as they won a slugfest in game four, 12-10. They would jump out to a 7-0 lead, then hung on to even the series. T.J. Hart went 4 for 4 with a double, home run and five RBIs in the victory.

San Antonio pounded out 19 hits, including nine extra base hits.

Leadoff hitter Brian Gonzalez went 6 for 6 with a double, triple, two stolen bases, and two runs scored for San Antonio.

San Antonio lead 11-3 in the eighth before Surprise scored five in the bottom half to cut it to 11-8. A T.J. Hart solo homer made it 12-8 in the ninth.

Ken Hollinger hit two home runs and drove in three in the losing effort for the Saguaros. His second was a two-run shot in the ninth to cut it to 12-10.

Tom Jung would come on to get the final out and pick up his five post-season save.

The Javelinas rallied late to pull out a 6-4 victory in the crucial game five to take a 3-2 series lead heading back to San Antonio. Sam Morgan’s two-out, two-run home run in the ninth off of Maury Keith gave the Javelinas the lead and puts them one game away from a championship.

T.J. Hart got the Javelinas off to a fast start with a solo home run in the first inning.

Surprise would get on the board in the fifth on a Ken Hollinger two-run double and Rodriguez solo home run to make it 3-1.

San Antonio would tie it up in the sixth on an Emil Palmeiro two-run double, but an Alberto Ruiz RBI single in the bottom half gave the Saguaros a 4-3 advantage.

A Kosuke Matsui RBI single off of Vern Fernandez in the eighth would tie the game at 4-4.

That set the stage for Sam Morgan to win it in the ninth with his two-run homer off of closer Maury Keith.

Tom Jung would come on in the bottom half to nail down the victory and send San Antonio home with the series lead and on the verge of the title.

In game six, the Javelinas would use a five run third inning to cruise to an 8-3 victory to secure the IBL World Series title. Greg Hunter hit two home runs and drove in five in the finale.

T.J. Hart homered in the first to give the Javelinas an early 1-0 lead. But Tim Ferriera hit a two-run shot off of Gus Woodson in the second to put Surprise in front in a game that they needed to win to extend the series.

Greg Hunter would then hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the second to put San Antonio in front for good.

In the third the Javelinas would score five times, capped off with a Greg Hunter three-run home run to make it 8-2

Surprise would get one back in the fifth on a Jaime Hernandez RBI single, but that was it as the Javelina bullpen would shut them down to cement San Antonio’s championship.

Gus Woodson (1-1) would earn the victory, allowing three run son seven hits in six innings of work. He struck out six and walked one.

Brian Gonzalez was named the World Series MVP, hitting .481 with a home run and three RBIs in the series for the champion Javelinas.

Yankees Reach The 2022 All Star Break at 55-43

The New York Yankees are in 1st place but Tampa and the surprise of the season Baltimore Orioles are 1 game back. The Blue Jays sit 1.5 back and Boston sits in the cellar 12 games back and looking to figure out where it all went wrong. Aaron Judge has 21 homeruns including 7 in the last 16 games to end the 1st half of the season. However that is only 2nd best on the team as Giancarlo Stanton has it all clicking this year with 25 homeruns and a .322 avg. The pitching hasn't been a slouch either. Luis Severino leads the team with a 2.37 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. Jordan Montgomery isn't far behind at 2.46.

With the trade deadline approaching The Yankees have clear needs. Another OF would be helpful as well as a catcher as both Jose Trevino and Kyle Higashioka have been dreadful at the plate, both sub .200. A true closer to emerge would be nice to as Clay Holmes, King and Chapman have all had opportunities and the result is 16 blown saves out of a possible 32.

                    Around The Diamond
Stop me if you've heard this before but the Dodgers lead the NL at 62-33 while the Astros lead the AL at 60-36. Alvarez leads the league in HR's with 31. Mike Trout has a league leading 1.80 OPS and a strong .645 SLG.
Boston can thank John means and his 127 K's in 114 IP for their strong record this season. Rookie Adley Rutschman has also played a part, .289/345/.435 with 8 HR's. Shohei Ohtani is still super human, 146K (leads the league) 26 HR's .589 SLG.

D-Backs bomb their way to yet another series sweep

The Arizona Diamondbacks current win streak is now at nine after their two game sweep of the Colorado Rockies. Arizona won the games 11-8 and 11-0. The two games scoring into double digits makes it three games in a row as their last game against the San Francisco Giants ended in a 14-4 victory.

This team is having a blast and continues to hit balls out of the ball park. In this short series, Carson Kelly and Ketel Marte continued their one team race for the MLB lead in homeruns as both reached thirty on the year.

Kelly's 30th was a personal milestone, his 100th of his career. While Marte's puts him just six away from 150 for his career.

Speaking of career homerun milestones, Michael Brantley hit his 150th of his career in the first game against the Rockies. A game that was well in hand early in the game as Arizona got out to a lead up to 9-1 before Colorado tried and came very close to coming back.

Arizona will look to continue that winning streak as they travel to San Francisco to face off against the Giants (40-47)

**edit** Jordan Lawlar returned from his stint on the IL and Stone Garrett was optioned back to AAA Reno.

Braves Sweep the Dodgers! We moved 46-30 on the year. 2.0 games up on the 2nd place Mets.

Acuna Jr., batting avg is not where we want it to be @.260, 24HR,49RB. He is slugging at almost .600. 3B Austin Riley is raking it all around avg.341,19HR,41RBI leading All-Star vote getter @ 3B. Also 1B Olson .314,23HR,49RBI, 2nd behind Freeman in All-Star votes for 1B. Also 2B Ozzie Albies is banged out 20HR,31RBI, avg .301, leading All-Star vote getter @2B.

On to Philly we go for a 3-game set vs. the Phillies, who are 3rd place (6GB) and 3-game series vs. the Reds.8a5eb095-eb00-4d48-9b07-ec44165d4477.jpeg

For the third time in the history of playing this series, I've thrown a no-hitter! And, in this modern age of baseball, I threw my first combined no-no.

Mike Soroka went the first 7 innings, walking two. Wanted to leave him in, but his pitch count was getting up there, so I pinch-hit for him in the 7th. Diego Castillo pitched a perfect 8th before giving way to Nick Anderson in the 9th. Anderson got the first two outs on two pitches. Then drama. Ketel Marte hit a grounder to first that went under Freddie's glove. Should have been an easy play. Vasgersian called it a hit and I was about to toss my controller. But it was officially ruled an error to keep the no-hitter intact. Anderson then got Jeff McNeil to fly out to center to complete it.

Threw one against the Cubs with Folty on MLB 15. And then with Teheran on, I think, MLB 18. Still looking for my first perfect game.

                              OFFSEASON

The 2022-23 offseason is upon us after the San Antonio Javelinas won the inaugural IBL World Series. Lets take a look at some of the moves that have been made.

                              Trades:

San Diego has acquired 34-year-old third baseman Ray Landry (92 OVR) from Scottsdale in exchange for prospects Joseph Sosa (72 OVR, B POT) and Steven Fink (65 OVR, A POT). Sosa is a 22-year-old centerfielder and Fink in a 22-year-old shortstop. Landry hit .260 with 26 homers and 98 RBIs in 2022 with Scottsdale.

St. George made a move to add a big bat to their lineup as they have dealt for 26-year-old third baseman Chris Taylor (90 OVR) from Yuma in exchange for 25-year-old centerfielder Percy Sievers (87 OVR) and 33-year-old starting pitcher Douglas Moss (82 OVR). Taylor hit .282 with 33 homers and 90 RBIs for the Dust Devils in 2022.

Roswell has acquired 30-year-old shortstop Justin Gellman (87 OVR) from Scottsdale in exchange for 22-year-old starting pitcher Howard Hood (76 OVR, B POT) and 22-year-old shortstop Anthony Urban (70 OVR, A POT). Gellman hit .285 with 23 homers, 80 RBIs and had 21 stolen bases for the Scorpions last year.

West Texas has acquired 32-year-old second baseman Chase Ponder (87 OVR) from Long Beach in exchange for 32-year-old starting pitcher Douglas Matsui (85 OVR) and 25-year-old first baseman Everett Bruce (74 OVR). Ponder hit .278 with 24 homers and 99 RBIs with 16 stolen bases for the Surf Dawgs in 2022.

Phoenix has sent first baseman 23-year-old Carl Lentzkow (83 OVR) to Chandler in exchange for 24-year-old centerfielder Rogelio Llerena (82 OVR) and 33-year-old right fielder Myles Payne (83 OVR). Lentzkow hit .276 with 12 homers and 41 RBIs in 2022 with the Firebirds. He has big shoes to fill after the Chiefs lost Rick Singleton in free agency to Austin.

                              Free Agency:

Phoenix made a big splash, adding 29-year-old starting pitcher Frank Reyna (98 OVR) to a nine-year deal worth $315M. Reyna went 10-11 with a 4.10 ERA with 154 strikeouts in 197.2 innings with Gilbert in 2022. He was the top free agent in this year’s class.

The Hops have made a move to beef up their starting rotation as they have signed 25-year-old Juro Yamaguchi to a three-year, $58M deal away from Gilbert. In 2022, he went 10-13 with a 4.23 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 120 strikeouts in 197.2 innings of work. The Barnstormers have now lost two of the top pitchers in the IBL to start free agency.

Flagstaff has also added 28-year-old starting pitcher Alex Farmer in free agency. The deal is for three-years and $39.3M. He went 10-11 with a 4.77 ERA with 179 strikeouts in 177.1 innings in 2022 with West Texas. The left hander will likely round out their rotation that looks to be one of the best in the IBL.

Fort Worth have signed 33-year-old catcher Tim Ferriera (91 OVR) away from Surprise on a three-year deal worth $43.8M. Ferriera hit .256 with 15 homers and 69 RBIs in 151 games for the Saguaros in 2022.

Austin has signed 26-year-old first baseman Rick Singleton (93 OVR) to a seven-year, $213M deal. Singleton hit .308 with 35 homers and 110 RBIs with 17 stolen bases last year for Chandler.

San Diego has added 31-year-old first baseman Gregory Rice (87 OVR) on a four-year deal worth $48.4M. Rice hit .273 with 37 homers and 97 RBIs in 2022 with Goodyear and will likely be a DH with the Seals with 19-year-old star Matt Mulder already there.

San Antonio has added third baseman Tom Santo on a four-year deal worth $53.2M. The 29-year-old hit .282 with 15 homers and 65 RBIs in 2022 with Albuquerque.

Goodyear signed 30-year-old left fielder Dewayne Ross (89 OVR) to a six-year, $95.4M deal. Ross hit .240 with 9 homers and 36 RBIs in 62 games in 2022 with Tucson.

Gilbert, who lost two key starting pitchers to free agency, signed 27-year-old starter David Lee (92 OVR) away from Roswell on a five-year deal worth $125M. Lee went 14-9 with a 3.92 ERA with 174 strikeouts in 192.2 innings of work in 2022.

Henderson has signed 30-year-old catcher Darren Gomes (85 OVR) away from Prescott on a three-year deal, worth $34.5M. Gomes hit .240 with 20 home runs and 47 RBIs for the Hot Shots in 2022.

Phoenix has added 26-year-old right fielder Gene Clark (86 OVR) on a five-year deal worth $66.5M. Clark hit .296 with 8 home runs and 29 RBIs in 52 games in 2022 with Goodyear.

Tucson made a move to improve their outfield as they have added 37-year-old outfielder Eric Lowe (90 OVR) on a one-year deal worth $7.4M. Lowe hit .282 with 23 home runs and 58 RBIs with 19 stolen bases in 2022 with Colorado Springs.

                              Coaching:

The Hops have fired manager Bud Black and replaced him with Matt Blake on a three-year deal worth $15M. They have also added third base coach Lucas Viotto on a three-year, $3M deal.

Art Mason hit eight home runs in Spring Training for Flagstaff

Spring Training has ended with San Antonio winning the Grapefruit League with a (17-9) record, finishing a 1/2 game ahead of the Salt River Rafters (18-11). Phoenix has captured the Cactus League with a (19-9) record. Glendale came in second, two games back at (18-12).

Some injuries to monitor as Spring Training has ended, top free-agent Rick Singleton fractured his wrist for Austin and will miss 4-8 weeks to start the year. Chandler has lost reliever James Franco to a torn finger ligament which will keep him out 4-8 weeks. Mesa lost centerfielder Mike Rexman to a fractured forearm but he is expected back in about a week. Glendale’s first baseman Alex Yabu suffered a dislocated ankle and may miss the entire season. Amarillo’s shortstop Jesus Baez suffered damaged knee cartilage and will miss about a month.

Oscar Aleman returned from his fractured hand at the end of the 2022 season.

The Flagstaff Hops finished the 2022 season as one of the hottest teams in the IBL. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to sneak into the playoffs. The team made some changes to the coaching staff, relieving Bus Black of his managerial duties and hiring Matt Blake. They also brought in a new pitching coach in Rick Kelly and a new third base coach in Lucas Viotto.

The team brought in a couple of starting pitchers through free agency to round out the staff. Juro Yamaguchi came over from the Barnstormers and Alex Farmer joined the club from West Texas.

The bullpen remains largely unchanged with Angelo Chacin starting the season in long relief after making 15 starts in 2022.

The lineup basically will remain the same from a team that led the league in home runs last year.

Around the Mountain League West, Prescott and Salt Lake made managerial changes with the Hot Shots hiring Dusty Wathan and the Chukars bringing in Fisher Asuncion.

The Hops will begin the season as the favorites in the ML West as they look to secure a postseason birth in season two.
