Yeah the RP battle was tied but the real hard decision was Julio but I am not in a position to play him everyday yet at AAA he can. So I will wait on him. If I stop restarting I am good to play 8 to 10 seasons so he will get plenty of time.

      2022 Arizona Diamondbacks 05/23-05/24

      Overall Record:35-17 (1st NL West)

Diamondbacks and Royals split two game mini series

Heading toward the end of May, the Diamondbacks sit atop the NL West and are five games above the second place San Francisco Giants (27-21). The Dodgers and the Padres are disappoingting so for this season (25-23) and (23-26).

The game against the Royals went about how most series have gone lately for the D-Backs. Kansas City won the first game 4-3 after taking the early 4-0 lead. A solo HR by Ketel Marte and a two run blast by Sergio Alcantara brought Arizona within striking distance but time ran out as the Royals took the first game.

Game two saw Arizona come out on fire knocking out starting pitcher Jace Vines after just four innings which led to a 6-3 victory.

The home stand continues with a tough four game series against the LA Dodgers.

      Game Results
      Game 1
      Kansas City-4
      Arizona-3

      Game 2
      Arizona-6
      Kansas City-3

*Note* Christian Walker suffered a shoulder pull diving for a ball in the first game against KC and is expected to miss around two weeks. He was placed on the 10 day IL but no one was called up to take his spot. Josh Rojas has two days left on the IL but may take a few more days to be game ready. His return will force a big decision when it comes to if the team should option Wilmer Difo back to Reno.

Julio definitely has a starting spot in my franchise. He is absolutely killing it. Have a look at the spray chat below from about earlier in the Spring. IMG_3439.jpg

              New York Mets Franchise

I run two franchises, One with my favorite team the Mets and one with a random team this year being Seattle. I Also wind up getting more seasons with the Mets for obvious reasons

              Settings

Game Play- Hall of Fame pitching and hitting
              Sliders- Armor and Sword

              Goals

Mets go into the season with World Series on the brain as new owner Steve Cohen has told coach Legend we will spare no expense.

              Spring Training Recap

Spring training had a small battle for the 5th spot in the rotation between Tylor Megill, David Peteson and Carlos Carrasco. It was very close down the stretch but with Megill and Peterson having options left they will start the year in triple A and likely be up in event of injury.

With Cano gone from the roster that also left open a roster spot which was filled by Travis Jankowski who beat out Nick Plummer for the bench roll

              Opening Day Roster

SP- Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt, Taijuan Walker, Carlos Carrasco

RP- Drew Smith, Chasen Shreve, Joely Rodriguez, Seth Lugo, Trevor May, Trevor Williams, Adam Ottavino, Edwin Diaz

              C- James McCann, Tomas Nido

IF- Pete Alonso, Dominic Smith, Jeff Smith, Luis Guillimore, Edguardo Escobar, JD Smith, Francisco Lindor

OF- Mark Cahna, Travis Jankowski, Starling Marte, Brandon Nimmo

Players of note down on the farm

SP- All of the Mets top 10 arms are likely a year to three years away. Matt Allan, Dominic Hammel, Calvin Zeigler and Joel Diaz all need some time to fine tune

C- Francisco Alavarez- Top 10 prospect in the game and he expects to make the club starting next season

IF- Several prospects all who could make it up this year or next year for sure. Brett Baty, Mark Veintos, and Ronny Mauricio are all knocking on the door.

OF- Nick Plummer is close but at 25 is he still a prospect? Next best thing is Alex Ramirez but only 19 and several years away.

Mets open the season at home with a three game series against Washington

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

One game after Swanson tore his ACL Chad Pinder makes his Atlanta debut and it's a bittersweet game. Pinder went 1-4 with a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the 8th to help the Braves get a 3- run 8th as they won 7-4 to complete the sweep over Miami and extend their winning streak to 6.

The win came at a cost, however. After getting the first four hitters out with no problem at all, Ian Anderson hurt his wrist throwing a pitch and had to be removed from the game. An x-ray would show the wriet was fractured and he'll miss some time.

While the Braves have had bad news the last two games from the injury front with with the Swanson and Anderson injuries, they do have something positive to look towards. Ronald Acuna Jr. is off the IL and about to make his first of a few starts at the AAA level before coming to help out an already surging lineup.

Though the lineup has been the best in baseball at producing runs to this point of the season, the outfield has had some inconsistencies at the plate. Duvall and Rosario are both hot and batting around .300 to start the year, and Ozuna is batting around .250, though he mainly DHs. The issue is the two platoon men in Dickerson and Heredia. Heredia was just sent down to AAA after batting sub .100 through the first 20 games of the year. Dickerson is hardly doing much better batting around .150 so far on the year. He remains up with the club and did get a nice double last game against the Marlins, but Acuna coming back to help out Duvall and Rosario will plug what is currently the biggest hole in this daunting lineup.

The bigger worry for the club right now is how well the pitching staff can hold up while Anderson is hurt. It doesn't look like Soroka will be back at all this year, and who knows what player he'll even be when he does eventually return. The way the lineup is playing at the moment it doesn't matter who is on the mound for Atlanta, but they won't stay hot forever and the 4 and 5 spots are going to eventually be problematic when the lineup does cool off some.

Alright I need some help! I'm getting ready to start a franchise, playing every 6th game and sim the rest. I want a team that is in the wildcard hunt, but is still a couple players away from being at the top.
I'm really intrigued by 4 teams, Phillies, Padres, Ray's, and the Guardians.
The Padres I feel are a stretch for me, but the thought of being in the west and having to battle LAD for that top spot intrguues me, but its also not really what I'm looking for. So who should I consider and why? Thanks!

I would say use Philadelphia not only because I am a fan but also I believe they have a good mix of young developing players, mature players and veterans. Their pitching staff might be a little shaky but they definitely have pieces to work with.

Tigers(26-22) Take 2/3, Right the Ship versus Guardians(19-27)?

When playing one of the worst offenses in the MLB, your pitching needs to take advantage, and that they did. While the Offense was absent for the majority of the series as well, they did enough to take the final two games. But only giving up 5 runs in 3 games, is not something to complain about from the Pitching Staff. They now will play Minnesota, as they head to Minneapolis for a 3 game set, before coming back home to play the Guardians once again.

Mets Sweep Nats To Open Season, deGrom Throws No No

The Mets opened up the season with a three game sweep of the Washington Nationals. Two teams with different season goals. The Nationals still held their own.

In the opener Jacob deGrom threw a no hitter as the Mets won the game 1-0. This is a big deal for me as I play on hall of fame settings and sliders to make the game competitive. I have played mlb the show forever and this is only the second time I ever threw a no hitter. It was a hard decision to leave him in as after 7 innings he was at 98 pitches and after 8 was at 112. I was worried about him getting injured as well. However I rode it out and he finished the job. His final line was 9 ip, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts.

Game 2 ended in dramatic fashion as the Mets needed to come back for the walk off win late as Joe Ross kept the hitters off balance all day long. Max Scherzer pitched a strong 7 innings with his only blemish being a 2 run homer he gave up to Josh Bell and after 7 innings he trailed 2-0. That would hold until the bottom of the 9th when the Nationals brought in Victor Arano for the save and if this is any indication he might not have the job for long. Arano walked Lindor on 5 pitches, gave up a single to Alonso and then on a 3-2 pitch gave up a 3 run walk off homerun to Edguardo Escobar for the 3-2 Mets win. Arano did not record an out.

Game 3 was a little less drastic as the Mets opened up the game early against Anibal Sanchez scoring 3 times in the first capped off by a Pete Alonso 2 run bomb. Chris Bassitt would pitch well enough and the Mets would get a solo Shot from Mark Cahna later and they would finish off the sweep with a 5-3 win. It did get a little dicey in the 9th as Edwin Diaz gave up a homerun to Nelson Cruz and the Nats had the tying run at the plate but he was able to hold them off.

                          League News and Notes

Pete Alonso missed the opening game of the season with back stiffness.

Twins Max Kepler torn his Calf and was placed on the 60 Day DL. Several other key players have been placed on the 15 day DL. Nick Castellanos, Ketel Marte, Zach Wheeler to name a few

The Cardinals, Brewers, and Red Sox also swept their opening series to start the season undefeated

Next up Mets welcome in the Braves who are off to a sluggish 1-3 start in the post Freddie Freeman era.

The devil's finish off the month of April sitting at 13-15 7.5 GB of the division leading Astros. So far the team has been about what I expected with some bright spots in the pitching and hitting.

                              Hitting Studs:

Taylor Motter is leading the way with 5 home runs and Jacob Wilson has the best batting average at .342 All the rest are sitting between .200 and .270 hopefully we can improve on that.

                              Hitting Duds:

Joe Panik and Anderson Tejeda are both hitting at .200 might be looking to start Wilson soon.

                              Pitching Studs:

Only Mike Foltynewicz has an ERA under 4.00 in the rotation at 3.34 and clearly leading the way. In the pen the back end has been the anchor with Butcher at 2.33 Brennan at 0.87 and Evan Marshall not allowing a run so far with 6 saves

                              Pitching Duds:

Tanner Roark and Jake Arrieta both have Earned run averages over six and Hunter Wood is over Ten. I’ll be looking to make some changes there if things don't get better

                              Transactions:

Kevin Quakenbush was placed on the Injured list for 60 days with a Broken Forearm. Promoted Sal Romano from Triple A. The devil's also signed C Taylor Davis to a 1yr desk. The Devil’s optioned Peter Maris to Triple A after they claimed Marwin Gonzalez off waivers from the Yankees.

                              Notes:

Jacob Wilson won rookie of the month

Braves Batter Mets & Sweep Them Two Games

The Braves reminded the Mets they are still the defending champs until they are not coming into Queens and sweeping a two-game series outscoring the Mets 13-1 in the series

Game 1 of the series saw Taijuan Walker give up a solo shot to Ronald Acuna and a 3 run shot to Matt Olson as he only lasted 5 innings. Ian Anderson kept the Mets bats cool and the Braves took game 1 of the series 4-1

Game 2 saw Carlos Carrasco and the Mets bullpen batters for 9 runs. The Braves hit 6 homeruns including two from Ozzie Albies and pounded out 13 hits in the 9-0 win over the Mets. Max Fried was dominate for 6 and 2/3 before he had to leave with a sore muscle.

The Braves with the two game sweep moved to 3-3 on the season while the Mets fell to 3-2. After one week in the season the Marlins lead the tight division with a record of 4-3

                                League News and Notes

The Marlins signed Free Agent catcher Wilson Ramos to a 1 year contract worth 2.7 million.

The Reds signed career minor league catcher Tom Hemphill to a 1 year deal worth 40k

No remaining teams are unbeaten after the first week of the season.

The Mets (3-2) head on the road to face the (2-30) Washington Nationals for a four game set. They will turn it back over to Jacob deGrom to right the ship coming off his no hit performance.
