It has to be on base running assist otherwise it would say auto base running inside the diamond in the top right hand of the screen. Auto and assist are the only two options.

I'm asking if he's only seen it on one or the other, or if he's tried both and seen it.

Helps to provide as much info as possible when submitting a bug report .

Does it only occur when the ball is popped up/in air, or does it occur with groundballs as well?

It’s on assisted. I’ve seen it occur on all instances. Ground balls, pop flys, even line drives into the gaps.

Assisted base running with classic controls.

Same setup here and I’ve never had this happen?

Didn't the SDS devs flat out state that you could finally use Shohei Ohtani like he plays in real life before this game was released? You still can't use him as a DH the same day he pitches so what gives?

Yes but at the time they made that statement the "Ohtani Rule" wasn't put into place where starting pitchers could remain in the game as the team's DH after being removed from the game as a pitcher.

When they said that, the Angels couldn't DH him on the days he pitched. That rule wasn't announced until like a week and a half before launch.

That's not the issue here. You can't use him as a DH on days he pitches. I am not referring to keeping him in the game as the DH once removed as a pitcher. You should be able to use him as the DH on days he is pitching. Why can't you?

Yes they could DH him. The rule was that he could REMAIN in the game as the DH once he was removed as the pitcher. So Ohtani still should have been able to be the DH on days he pitched on MLB The Show 22 and then the DH would be forfeited so SDS would have had to patch that in. They didn't even do that. You can't use Ohtani as the DH on days he pitches. SDS messed up and I want to know why. Ohtani is pitching and is the DH right now in the game against the Astros I am watching. You can't do the same thing in the game.

That rule wasn’t in place until after they made that announcement and the game was finished They didn’t mess anything up.

Until the Ohtani rule if a pitcher was also the DH, if he was removed from the game as a pitcher then he would have to be removed as the DH as well.

You aren't understanding. The Angels could ALWAYS use Shoehi as the pitcher and DH. All that would happen is that the DH would be gone once Ohtani was out of the game and it would simply become the pitcher would bat like the NL rules used to be. The new rule allowed for the DH to stay. SDS doesn't even allow the DH to be forfeited. You simply can't use Ohtani as the DH regardless if the rule is there or not. That means they messed up.

Again, I know the Ohtani rule wasn't in place when the game was done. The issue is that you aren't able to use Ohtani as the DH when he is pitching. That was ALWAYS able to happen. There is no reason that it shouldn't be able to happen. At the very least, you should be able to use Ohtani as the DH when he pitches and then if you remove him as the pitcher, you simply don't have a DH anymore. Why can't SDS do that??

You keep giving me a reason that isn't a reason. For all I know you know the devs and are doing your best to defend them. When you tell me the devs didn't mess up when I state the facts that they did, I am simply trying to figure out how that happened. I know there are devs and influencers here so you might be an important person. Forgive me if you aren't and are just confused.
