Ohtani was the DH in the first Angels game in my franchise, then the starting pitcher in the second. So they are using him in the lineup.

That’s weird. They’re using Matt Duffy as the DH in mine.

the confusion is because and I quote from Ramone they said 'you can now use Ohtani the way he is used in real life'

people expected that.

so he still counts as a pitcher so it screws the angels form having a 6 man rotation because you can't have 14 pitchers too on the roster so angels have a 25 man roster

To be fair, Ramone said that before the new "Ohtani Rule" became official. That said there isn't even a way to forfeit the DH and have him hit under old NL rules like the Angels were doing on days he pitches. So either way, he wasn't entirely right.

So you can't do the "put a pitcher in the field, then move the DH to said pitcher's position, so you lose the pitcher in the field/DH so the SP (Ohtani) is in the lineup" trick? That's what I've been doing in 21

Still though he shouldn't be counting as the 13th pitcher on the roster. it doesn't allow the angels to have a 6 man rotation unless you play the send down send up game which is a pain

Even if we can’t have him DH and pitch in the same game, I’d still like, at the very least, to have him DH the day after a start and not lose energy.

He's supposed to gain it back now in this scenario, but I don't have the game yet to confirm.

In terms of cpu using him:

I have simmed 2 seasons so far. He has pitching stats and he also has hitting stats saying 162 games played. So it does appear that the CPU in simmed games is utilizing him correctly.

I can't speak on played games against him or using the Angels.

A fix was found, and it’s most likely a bug. To use Ohtani in your own Angels franchise so he DHs and pitches in the same game, he has to be the number two starter, not number one.

This is working for you? I tried this but when he is selected to pitch he still isn’t available to DH.

That remains not possible. He can’t pitch and DH in the same game.

Literally just worked with me when I used Noah S. He was P and DH but with Ohtani it won’t work.

Can’t for the life of me understand why they don’t just make it possible to put guys like Ohtani in both the lineup screen and the rotation screen at roster setup. Problem solved.
