Isn't timing and directional the same thing, minus the ability to influence the swing? Either way, the devs have said in the past that with traditional directional hitting that you're always better off to not influence the swing, so essentially wouldn't that be the same thing as timing?

Yeah…I’m a little confused too. Lol

Re: Timing hitting back?
I dont know if you guys played the old mlb games but back in the triple play and mvp u just swing and it was based on your timing. The show had that but took it away and techinally if u use directional and dont aim it was timing. But now it by each self and focus on your timing only. And of course the hitters attributes

Re: Timing hitting back?
I'm going to be using timing when I start playing on Tuesday. I played a LOT of games testing it in the Tech Test. I've got a starting point for a slider set based on that. The hitting was 7 contact, 4 power, 4 timing, 4 fouls, 5 solid hits on All-Star. I might try All-Star+. Hall of Fame was a no go for me; no matter what sliders I used, contact on pitches outside of the zone was WAY too low.

Re: Timing hitting back?
Does the timing work how the analog worked last year in using the PCI or does it not use the PCI?

Re: Timing hitting back?
It uses a pci however I don’t think it displays it on the “Pitch swing feedback “ just like directional. The pci will move on it’s own based on player ratings and user timing.Comment

Re: Timing hitting back?
Not seeing it would be great. Hated high vision batters that on a 3-0 count and good timing on a pit h down the middle would have the PCI way out of the zone.

Re: Timing hitting back?
Count me in the group that likes the idea of timing hitting (reminds me of MVP baseball using timing, and meter pitching), but I want to know what the difference in directional without a direction and timing is.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights

Re: Timing hitting back?
I found it. In your Directional hitting guide, post #652 on page 82 Brian SCEA is quoted by you saying...
" (Directional simulates your PCI placement for you and passes it to the engine). In Zone hitting you pick the timing and PCI location. In Directional you pick the timing and influence PCI location (or if you don't influence, it picks for you). For this reason it is better not to influence than to influence randomly and get it half right and half wrong."Comment

Re: Timing hitting back?
When I used directional I would get a bunch of lazy fly balls if I didn't press a direction.
Felt it forced you to pick one and it didn't work well to be just timing. Pure analog was the closest but felt limited with use of contact swing and I really don't like the PCI being part of the equation. If it's based on ratings and situation under the hood it doesn't bother me so much.

Re: Timing hitting back?
Could just be me looking for differences, but it seems there's a bigger variety of contact and hits using just timing as opposed to directional.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights
