Re: Too many Complete Game Shutouts?

I tested a sim earlier. 0 SP stamina and manager hook at 10. I simulated the season with injuries off and had a total of 40 CG. Zack Wheeler led with 5. Three had 4. Best you can do. That's only 11 more than real life last year.

In another sim I put the hook at 10 but left SP stamina at 5. There were tons! So many I didn't count. So you need stamina at 0 and hook at 10. Also there were plenty with 20+ wins and overall stats looks good so the SP still get their wins and IP.

Where did you put reliever stamina for sim with the zero starter stamina?

It was at 8. That's just where I have it for my franchise games and simmed games. Lowering it a lot would affect a played franchise cause RP would be so drained all the time since the cpu doesn't bring up guys when need of fresh arms.

This is a legacy issue. Changing sliders when simming helps, but changing player ratings has been the more concrete solution

Do you just save your actual gameplay sliders separate from the sim set and then load your personal sliders every time you're going to play a game?

And then, do you have to manually sim all the CPU games? Otherwise I usually see that they've been simmed once I go into my own game.
Yes, I use two sets of sliders - one for gameplay and the ones I posted for simming. I just have to remember to switch to the correct one when simming or not. I've been doing this for a long time and the stats have always turned out pretty well.

Every year before I start Franchise, I test the sliders by simming an entire season just to be sure they're working correctly and yielding good results.

They literally fixed nothing. I’ll officially pass on 22. See you next year fellas.

Re: Too many Complete Game Shutouts?

A couple years ago they instituted a steep penalty for pitchers once they reached 25% of stamina. I wonder of they removed that. Wouldn't be the first time they have regressed gameplay.

My method was to work the pitch count and get the starter tired and then score against the tiring pitcher.

Playing a late franchise, and only thru 4/12 and already there have been 24 CH shutouts. In the day just played, there were six teams who failed to score (not all of them by just one pitcher). Almost feels like we are back in the Dead Ball Era.

It’s almost like there is a glass ceiling of sorts as to how the lineup decides how to simulate. Your better off going with a more old school lineup as such if you plan on even doing a remotely good amount of simming.

1st/lead off: high speed decent contact
2nd: good contact high visions. Otherwise expect failure
                    3rd: best overall hitter
                    4th: best power hitter
5th: second best power hitter although you can squeak by with moderate power if he has good contact and vision.
6th: third best power hitter or second best contact hitter
                    7th: second best speedster
8th: all power no hit tool
                    9th: worst hitter

So basically if you manage like a 2006 Mike Soscia you will have great success in franchise when simulating. Basically ignore everything analytics has told us for the last 15 years
Not sure if that is completely true . . . while simming 2 of 3 games with my 2022 Cubs, had Ian Happ (batting second vs RH for most of the season) hit .315/1.005 OPS with 49 HR and won the NL MVP. Yan Gomes (batting 2nd against LH), hit ~.285/~.850 OPS w/19 HR in ~350 ABs (before missing a large part of the season on DL . . . and actually, I was somewhat underperforming those stats with him in played games, or he would have been higher).

I like raising Manager hook and then lowering reliever stamina in the gameplay sliders.
