      Re: Missing equipment

Glad to see Nike catchers gear finally. I am still perplexed by the missing cleats and Under Armour catchers gear. Some of these are in the community market (Adidas Afterburner and Under Armour catchers gear) and have in-game textures. My only guess at this point is the textures are being updated.

Shout out to SDS for the Nike and Jordan catchers gear textures. They are not perfect (trim colors and strap colors) but they do look better than ‘21.

I am perplexed with the Rawlings gloves not having the red label.

What is the story with this? They look terrible.

I would imagine that Rawlings probably sent over models for new gloves they wanted to show off??? Idk...it sucks that none of them have the classic red label that everyone uses

Werent there UA elbow guards and shin guards in 21?

Anyone see those in the marketplace?

I don’t think they are in the market. They were definitely in last years game. Also, the UA catchers gear only has the helmet and chest protecter and no shin guards in the market.

I believe they were in 20 but not last year...could be wrong...but I seem to recall giving Harper & Soto the 44 brand shin guards instead.

Side note, I really like the look of the Tater shin guard, it's a bit larger than the 44 one, but the same style

I agree, if anything the should allow us to edit the logos and wording, why is it that graphic 1-2 is an option and yet can’t even be used to edit, that’s just a waste, with so much potential to edit.

                    Re: Missing equipment

I don't really see the need for Under Armor catching gear since literally nobody wears it anymore. Force 3 catchers gear on the other hand is worn by multiple people, especially the helmet.

The Nike Alpha Huarache low cleat has been the most worn cleat in the entire MLB for multiple years. So yes, out of all the real shoes they could possibly add, you would think that those would be prioritized towards the top of the list. Make sense?
And I'm sure they would if:

                      A) Nike allowed it
                      B) Cost to acquire the Alphas from Nike was within their budget. (To your point, it's the flagship cleat currently)
                      C) Other contract terms between SDS, Nike and MLB weren't being violated.
                      4) All the above

Any of these variables + many others could be a reason they aren't in the game. Product acquisition cost is a real thing and sometimes the cost is too high for the budget to endure.

Would you be happy if the Alphas were in the game but in-order to do so they had to strip away a bunch of other Nike assets and/or other manufacturers assets?

Then we'd have people complaining that "Alphas aren't the only cleat in the MLB and they don't have real gloves or bats or whatever else".

Or the only way to minimize acquisition cost was to present the Alpha cleats behind a paywall? Everything else is included in franchise mode except Alphas. Would anyone want that?

Then they'd be greedy and public perception is they're heading this way when they may not be. Maybe Nike is the sticklers in this, maybe the suppliers are realizing their previous contracts were too low. All these factors are evaluated I'm sure inside SD Studios.

SDS knows that equipment helps sell their game thus they built in COGS to acquire assets. Often times for profit by "virtually" reselling them to the DD crowd. Maybe Nike wants a cut of that on the Alphas, who knows.

I'm not being factious but again, the cost to acquire such product license might not make financial sense and I'm sure SDS would love to have all equipment in the game IF it did make financial sense AND didn't violate any legalities.

I wish they were in there as well but we don't know what we don't know and anyone outside of those negotiations internally, well they don't fully know as you can tell from the amount of "maybes" and questions in my post here.

I just don't believe they're keeping them out on purpose.

2K was always very open that shoes being in the game depends on the manufacturer sending them to 2K to be scanned. I’d imagine it’s a similar situation here.

It could be but who truly knows. My whole point was that I don't think any of us know unless we had some sort of insider information.

Either way, I'm glad they've been able to get a lot of equipment back into the game. It does add a sense of immersion and realism that you just don't get seeing some "MLB the show" wooden bat haha.
