This is a terrible analogy. A car without wheels is undriveable. A video game without some of the equipment is still completely playable. Also, I see all the mention of DD being a money sucking mode but you you're not required to spend money on DD. You can do whatever is needed on DD without spending a dime.

Re: Missing equipment
I feel like this is a bit dramatic. Plus on the other side of the coin they advertised the equipment in all of their pre promotional material. Not to mention it is available in other game modes locked behind a pay wall of course. I would agree with you if they hadn’t advertised this equipment as being apart of the game. Equipment isn’t a deal breaker for me but for some people it is.
It would be the equivalent of going to buy a car. You do your research on every aspect of the car. Every commercial and piece of advertising material for that car, everything looks good. Then you purchase the car. But the day you go to pick pick up the car the salesperson tells you that unfortunately you cannot leave with the car, because the wheels for the vehicle are not available yet. The car most certainly does come with wheels, but due to some unforeseen issue with the factory your cars wheels will not arrive for about 30 days. No mention of this issue whatsoever before you spent your money on the vehicle with the intention of driving it home that day. Had they not advertised any of that equipment being in the game whatsoever, then yes I would agree with you. They wouldn’t owe anyone an explanation at all.
While I am glad the mentioned they are working on it and eventually it will be in, I 100% think it’s an issue that deserves 100% transparency and I am glad they mentioned it. I guarantee that because everyone on line was making a stink about it, that’s why they decided to address it.
Also, like AU said, that's a terrible analogy. And I've heard this one plenty of times in my over a decade of time here.
The game is perfectly playable. If the missing equipment really makes the game unplayable for you, then I guess that's your prerogative. But most would disagree.
We all want the missing equipment, and they said it's coming. This is in no way false advertisement, and they had a deadline to release the game.
And as far as you saying that Knight's post is dramatic, well it's not. This stuff happens in crunch time. Ask anyone who is involved in game development and they will tell you that is all true.Comment

I could be missing something, but when did they advertise all the missing equipment?

Re: Missing equipment
Also, I agree that the car analogy is not great. But if you purchased Polo Grounds in the community market and instead you got a generic minor league stadium, and there was no disclaimer that Polo Grounds isn’t actually in the game, that wouldn’t be right. That’s trying to get customers to spend stubs on something they aren’t getting.CarefreeComment

Re: Missing equipment
Idk if it matters but they didn't really advertise the equipment as a feature in the game. In years past they have always used old builds to make the ads, so they very well could have had equipment in the ads that wasnt in the game. I don't really have the interest in going back to check my claim....but its definitely possible

Unquestionably, non-existent equipment is currently available for purchase in the community market. That is advertising to me. So anyone can go double check me just by going into the community market and purchasing the ohtani elbow guard and New Balance 4040 cleats.CarefreeComment

Re: Missing equipment
Showing players wearing certain equipment in trailers isn't advertising that equipment. It's advertising the game itself. They never specifically said Nike catchers gear is in the game. If people feel otherwise then whatever.
As far as showing equipment that can be purchased but not showing up when you equip it is also not advertising. It's a bug as SDS has stated. And I am sure all that equipment will be available for franchise and play now when the bug is fixed. There is no way they will make you pay for it in those modes. If that happens, then that would be horrible, and I just don't see that happening.
I don't understand this whole false advertisement thing. Sure, the Polo Grounds analogy is valid, but we are talking about a bug here. It's not like you are purchasing Nike catchers gear and getting Easton Gear.
I don't think people understand what false advertising actually is. And honestly, what do people want? SDS came out and said it's a bug. They are fixing it. This was not false advertisement.Comment

Re: Missing equipment
Maybe it's just me but when I see Nike catchers gear shown multiple times in various promo trailers (knowing that it was in the game last year) I'm led to believe that it's also in the game this year, and it's (currently) not. I think that's a pretty fair assumption. If there's an issue or an error or they need time to fix something that's fine and dandy. The problem is that they have been very hush hush about the situation. If they had of made a statement right out of the gate about needing time to add it in the game I think most people would have accepted that. Keeping people in the dark is what gets them wound up. Me, I'm just glad that that it will be included in the next patch, sooner is better than later or not at all.Comment

Missing equipment
I agree wholeheartedly with this post. To further address the situation of SDS talking about the bug, the studio did not specifically state that there is a bug. However, the studio did release two title updates which added equipment into the game AND the studio mentioned in a content livestream that they hope to include the remainder of the equipment in the next update. This is not necessarily a confirmation that a bug prevented the equipment from being included in launch day software as far as I am aware. I just wanted to add this post for context and clarification.
It also doesn’t mean they purposely held the equipment out just to trick people into buying the game via “false advertising”
It’s pretty evident, at least I think, that something happened unexpectedly/beyond SDS control, that caused equipment to be omitted at launch and added as the root cause became resolved.

I mean that in the most constructive way, I really do. I respect the opinions of everyone else, and I agree that it is likely a bug. But those items are STILL up. You can spend real money on them right now.CarefreeComment

Re: Missing equipment
It’s definitely a possibility. But until the studio makes a statement about the root cause, we are left with speculation. In my very humble opinion, I think it is telling that the items have not been removed from the community market, and have been up in one form or another since early access. Again, I don’t want to blame the developers who are sleeping in the office. I don’t know why the items are still up on the market, but they are. And customers can at this very moment buy stubs and spend those stubs on items that are not present in the game. I think that’s kind of messed up.

Re: Missing equipment
I was going to respond to try to explain why this is likely the case, but then I thought, "what's the point"? Conspiracy theorists are going to do what they do best and its pointless to try and discuss, because everything said will be spun to fit their theory.
