Most are apparently not aware of this, but just because there is no visible PCI for timing it DOES exist. It is always in a spot when you swing, never sits dead center. Where it moves is based on many different variables I couldn't possibly understand. A lot of it is ratings based. In franchise a hot or cold streak hitting is a variable as well.

Making contact on a low and away pitch using timing results in a foul ball or rolled over pitch 90-99% of the time. Using zone if you're good enough you can hit a homerun 9 times out of 10 with a high power rated guy. The OP really has no idea what he's talking about. Go try out timing yourself and see how you do.

I do have a question though. Is there an option that forces both players to use timing? Classic pitching? If so I may actually have to get into DD and play since it would be on a fair level playing ground.

Right....they need to get rid of the pitch cursor too....pitchers don't get some magical indicator that shows exactly where they are aiming.

i'm different. my situation is unique. look at my username. i'm not in a gang. never have been.

i am paralyzed as a result of a football accident in 1895.

i am mostly paralyzed. the only things i can personally control are narrow parts of the front of my arms (biceps) down to my hands.

this next part is important to understand -- i cannot move my fingers at all.

blah blah.. i still game. i'm 52. been gaming since 11. i'll never stop.

but relating to this issue... i rake on zone too easily.

so i play directional (online too)... i dont care. i'm there for fun. and baseball. and it's way better to me (yes even with paralyzed fingers i can aim the pci), but i prefer baseball games like earl weaver and frontpage sports, and high heat.

my point is.. even with paralyzed fingers, zone hitting is where i consistently excel. timing/directional i go thru slumps.


that's realer to me than any pci could be; or anyone claiming so -- my fingers are paralyzed, been playing the show since it's inception and i wont use pci because it makes hitting to easy FOR ME!!!

I wouldn’t say most don’t realize the PCI doesb’t sit dead center with timing. Everyone in this thread gets that except, apparently, the OP.

i know it doesnt sit dead center. what you dont realize is a guy with 99 power, ala joey gallo for example, can sit and swing with power only and be rewarded regardles of low contact. The PCI is controlled by the computer. If zone was so easy than why isnt every one using it online?

With zone you cant influence flyball and power swing at the same time, there is no influence option with zone. so upper cut swings when making contact rarely results in a hr. k 15 times but 4 hits/4hr.

shouldnt online ranked/DD be based off user vs user and not user vs a cpu controlled PCI? do you also have auto dive on?

Pretty much everyone DOES use Zone online.

You talking about guys like Joey Gallo is ironic. With timing/directional, guys like Gallo are awful, but they're normally considered really good with Zone early in the year. 42 series Joey Gallo was a beast last year with Zone. But with Directional/Timing you generally need guys with high contact and high vision to have any chance of making it work.

Some people just don't care what "everyone else does". They focus on what is fun for them and play that way.

It's no different than people who use meter/pulse/classic pitching instead of the more common pinpoint/analog.

Nearly everyone that plays this game competitively uses Zone because of how much of a disadvantage you're at using Timing or Directional online.

lol it's completely possible that you got wrecked by someone using timing I guess. Anything is possible in baseball. But there is no way that I'm aware of to tell what interface the other person is using, you have no evidence that it even happened to even show yourself much less anyone else.
