Re: CPU Generated players
I could be wrong, but I think facial hair is random and not weighted towards the more common beards/lack of facial hair. So you've got a 1/20 chance of being clean shaven, whereas in reality most people are even clean shaven or have one of about 3 generic stubble beards.
Perhaps it is weighted, I don't fully know, but if it is weighted then it's not got the right balance -
Re: CPU Generated players
Yeah you definitely get some interesting characters as you progress.
But my counter is that I edit draft picks to match real life current draft picks and future. I don't always do all of them as some only last maybe a year in the game before being replaced, but I do the higher rated prospects.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

It may just be me, but I cant remember the last time I saw a futures player or any player have the "Rollie Fingers" stache. LOLReally wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players
CFB 25 The absolute GOAT!!!
MLB 23 FOREVER 20 is better, 23 just for Guardians
Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.Comment

Re: CPU Generated players
Yeah I mostly stick with guys who have face scans. It’s like the difference between regular cars and premium cars in GT6 if anyone remembers that. Give me 28-year-old, face-scanned, 58 OVR Max Moroff as a system-depth infielder over some plastic-looking 21-year-old with A-potential any day, even though that makes no sense.
But like cb said, just jump in that editor and give a guy some real love and suddenly he’s one of your favorite players because you put that work in on him. I’ve made several of those over the years, and do similar with most of the Tigers current prospects. Getting player-likeness as close to real-life as possible does wonders imo, including having an effect on how you perform with those players.Last edited by Detroit Tigers; 05-25-2022, 01:48 PM.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment

Re: CPU Generated players
It makes me so mad that they just go with randomizing the names and features of everyone… giving a guy an Asian first name with a Latin last name with a dark complexion, white people hair like a mullet (there aren’t enough hair options for POC but that’s a whole other topic) and a Rollie fingers mustache just completely destroys the immersionComment

Re: CPU Generated players
Anyone ever notice there's this "generic face scan" meta that they use on lots of licensed players who didn't get face scanned? It's like this grizzled hobo sort of face, and maybe they tweak it slightly from player to player, but not by much. Bobby Dalbec has it in game, which is not at all like his real face which is youthful.
And sometimes they use another player's face on somebody else if they look kinda similar.Comment

Re: CPU Generated players
It seems 90% of the time, CPU generated players look weird. They have odd facial hair, interesting name combinations (i.e. American First Name, Asian Last Name), and random equipment (but nothing other than the first glove web choice). It'd be nice if there'd be some realism and sensible choices to it. However, that's always been an issue with sports games and CPU generated players and it's probably to avoid lawsuits or accusations of being discriminatory.Comment

Re: CPU Generated players
I think I'd rather have like 50 face scans of actual dudes who looks like they could be baseball players, with minimal editing potential, than the Play-Doh style we have now. The existing setup has a meta that makes all the CAPs look similar anyway.Comment

It’s just such BS that we end up losing culture due to potential accusations of being discriminatory. So now we end up with Kazuhisu Jackson who’s fair skinned with a Jheri curl and an old timey curling mustache.
