MLB games are 3 hours. MLBTS games are 45 min to an hour and 20 min. Why would you even need the pitch clock?
Really wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players

MLB 23 FOREVER 20 is better, 23 just for Guardians
Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.

For me, with any sim sports game, it's about the ability to customize the settings and sliders, rules, equipment etc. It's not about the larger bases or pitch clock. It's about giving the players options to, within reason, tweak the game to your liking. My go to example is NBA 2K MYNBA mode. You can tweak tiny details of the league, teams, players and gameplay because that's the point of someone playing MYNBA. Obviously many players don't care about these details, but they at least have the option to automate all the tasks and just focus on their team or whatever.
This game provides minimal customization options on every aspect of franchise mode. So not including two rules changes in the game they are licensed to develop is just silly and confirms that they don't care about the simulation gameplay.
Its DD and competitive, 1A and 1B.

I think our baserunners would still be getting caught stealing

aesthetics and immersion. even if I never even get close to zero on the clock, I'd still like to see the clock ticking down. it might even subconsciously affect my pitching. dunno until I see for myself.
but no big deal either way. could just be one of the "little things" the Show is known for

I actually understand the logic of not putting the pitch clock in. The CPU will already never go over that. The human likely won't either. So it would take time and money to implement something that no one will ever see. I'd have been okay with them just applying the online clock to franchise, but that's at like 6 or 8 seconds or something like that.

The pickoff rule not being in is a disappointment though.

Couldn’t the same logic be made about the play clock in madden?

It could, but the reality is most gamers select a pitch and go within 5 seconds or less. It takes a little longer to sift through 50 play selection options, and most of the time it still takes probably 10 seconds or less to pick the next play choice in madden. And then they created the accel clock to run the clock down in between plays.

You're probably right and it is unnecessary, just as it would be in The Show. Plenty of reasons to nitpick this game but the pitch clock ain't it.

I'm not surprised since we haven't even seen a spring training game with them. It may seem like a cosmetic change, but it really does impact the physics of baserunning and fielding.

You have the play clock and shot clock in Madden and 2K because those sports are time-based, so you cant just sit with the ball for 5 minutes and drain the play clock. In MLB, you have to throw the pitch no matter what and theres no defense keeping you from throwing what you want or anything, so everyone just sets up the defense in 2 seconds, selects a pitch and throws, because using up extra time is literally pointless and a waste of time.

Its why the NFL and NBA have always had "play clocks" and MLB didn't. Because in terms of fairness during the game, its irrelevant for baseball.

Yay, the AI gets to throw at 1st with any player over 50 speed as many times as they want, no penalty.
