Yeah I agree with you that's what I was saying too. The previous post was saying DD and RTTS are where all of SDS time is spent. I was just commenting that's where most people are playing the game, not franchise.

I actually played DD for the first time in the tech test yesterday and got matched up against a team of all stars. When their #8 hitter is minnie minosa and my cleanup hitter is Oscar Piecota, you tend to lose interest.

you can get unlimited Show pack in the test, build an interesting team. I loaded up with Orioles and enjoyed it that way

Alternatively, you can create a lineup with similar structure to that of an MLB team (meaning not an entire team of all-world players) and play vs. the CPU.

This is what I did.

I kept opening packs until I got a majority of the Cardinals team and then played CPU.



In regards to DD, I could easily play this mode, but I get so engrossed in the virtual universe that is my franchise, that I essentially won't allow myself to get involved with another mode.

Because I really think DD mode is taking to much resources away from other parts of the game for years now.

Seems to me it took most of the graphics team

lemme answer instead, why... it needs to stay:
I only very minimally play any DD at all but I view it as necessary because w/o it, the Show realistically probably couldnt stand on its own anymore w/o a mode like such as DD to pay the bills. its like commercials during my favorite tv show, or ads on Operation Sports. there just are not enough consumers who play ONLY franchise mode (or RTTS) to make this game feasible dollarwise w/o something else to bring in the $ and support what is still the best sports game around afaic

I dabble in DD and have fun with the mode. I understand why people play it, and I also understand why people don't. DD makes SDS money which is good for them and their team. I don't play it very often and when I do it's mostly just vs CPU but it can be fun collecting cards and seeing who you get through packs.

How could you definitely say that it's not taking away resources from somewhere else? Of course it is. This is blatantly obvious.

If DD does not exist, where do they spend all the time that has gone into DD? It goes somewhere else. The 2 most played modes before DD came along was Franchise and RTTS.

I still to this day do not understand people who honestly don't think that the card game modes in all sports games have taken away from other modes.

For those saying the resources given to DD are minimal? How? They have new modes in DD every year. New ways to earn cards. New types of cards that aren't players, coop is now a DD rewards mode. They are adding to it EVERY year. And it's not minimalistic efforts either.

In the same manner that people claim that if DD didn't exist the other modes would definitively be better.

You have a team that works on franchise and a team that works on DD. How can you definitively say that if DD didn't exist that the people on that team would be reassigned to other modes? Maybe if DD doesn't exist those that work on that mode don't work for SDS.

in all honesty, I believe DD creates resources for franchise.
in any event, I'm not willing to see DD go away (even though the mode isn't for me) at the risk of then losing franchise.
I'll choose to take franchise for what it is and then peacefully coexist with DD

I have to vent...

Seeing DD-specific threads like this that should be celebrating new information about the new game devolve into a whine-fest every year based on ignorance and mis-information is just truly frustrating and is a black eye for the OS community. As someone who primarily identifies as as a 'franchise guy', it's embarrassing. As someone who also enjoys playing DD and is excited about the little snippets of information and would love to talk about it, I don't feel like I can do so here in any meaningful manner without constantly navigating post after post of attacks on this mode (and people that play it).

You don't like or play DD? That's fine. There are PLENTY modes/features I don't like/care about for this game (MTO, stadium creator, RTTS, etc.) that other people here love. You know what? I keep my yap shut and let them enjoy it. I speak about the games and modes I play and try to support people that play other modes when I feel like my voice can add to theirs.

It blows my mind that so many other people here cannot do this.
