Re: MLB The Show 23 Trade Discussion

Used to frequent this thread daily about 10 'The Shows' ago. Glad to see it still thriving.

I have a unique trade issue I would appreciate any input on.

I am current in the midst of a really ambitious project where instead of relocating the Oakland Athletics I am 'folding" the team (Literally worked out a whole dispersal draft) and 'expanding' a team in that slot (Again, worked out a whole expansion draft)

I ended up really happy with the low quality of the expansion player pool I came up with but as a result of some teams poor roster structures there were a few players that were forced to be unprotected:

SP 86 overall Luis Severino (Yankees)
SP 80 overall Robbie Ray (Seattle)
C 83 overall Willson Contreras (St. Louis)

These 3 absolutely do not fit the timeline I am looking for but also retain what I perceive on paper as enough value to warrant the teams offering prospects not to take them.

What I am asking of this thread is what would you pay if you were the Yankees/Mariners/Cardinals to retain the player listed above, if anything.

Something to note, I am doing this in the edit rosters prior to starting the franchise so i can construct as large of a "deal" as necessary. Since I am trying to fill out a minor league system i am not averse to quantity over quality but I always will prioritize blue chip prospects if possible.

    Thank you for any help

Franchise needs a massive overhaul to their AI trade decisions they are awful.

In my franchise I’ve seen the A’s and Royals both bottom dwellers trade young prospect for mid major league players.

That's why this thread exists, my friend! And, in complete fairness to the MLB trade engine, there really isn't a sports game that I can think of that has a decent trade engine. If you're looking for any sort of realism, you've gotta roll with 30 team control.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Trade Discussion

I'm playing as the Angels just got into June sitting at 36-31, .5 game up on Astros for the Wildcard but 1 game back of top wild card spot, the Mariners. Rangers lead division by 6 games. It's a blood bath! Anyways I need starting pitching to shore up the back end of the rotation, relief pitching to eat some innings and if o can find one, a stopgap SS.
My number 2 Detmers has a 6.10 ERA
Number 5 Canning has a 5.77 ERA and both have only 40 or 50 K's in 80 plus innings.
At SS I've alternated between Neto who I had to send down with a .193 avg in 192 AB's, Urshela who has a .240 avg but his glove and reaction at SS isn't great and then David Fletcher who is hitting .108 in 40 AB's so far. Long term.I want Neto, but he needs more time.
Down in the Farm Adell and Moniak are struggling but they're also splitting AB's hoping I can move Adell and give Moniak the AB's full time.

In my league the A's,Nats,Reds,Marlins,Rockies,Tigers,Twins and Royals are all at least 10 games or more out of the Wildcard and division so ideally I make a move with them as they will want to retool.
I was contemplating a few guys
          E Rod (4 yrs left) 4-6 4.88 ERA 72 IP 58K
          Michael Lorenzo's (rental) 4-5 2.46 ERA 84 IP 56 K
          Aroldis Chapman (rental) 2.79 ERA 19.1 IP 20 K....15Walks
          Sonny Gray (rental) 4-4 2.35 ERA 69 IP 56K
Dinelson Lamet 29 IP demoted AAA 6.98 ERA 23 K
Sixto Sanchez 3-2 59 IP 4.55 ERA 42K LRP currently in Miami
Jon Berti ARB eligible .273 avg 5 Hr 25 Steals
Kevin Newman ARB eligible .295 avg
Aledmys Diaz (1 half years).276 avg 8 Hr
Tyler Wade .366 avg in 41 AB's nit really getting a shot to play much

So yea a lot of info, sorry but what would you do? No idea who to over besides Adell if I can. Would love to get rid of Rendon but that contract....ugh

anyone know of any tricks to force a trade if i don't have force trade or 30 team control on?

Trying to make an IRL move and bring Gary Sanchez to the Padres who I'm controlling. I tried maxing out a prospect to all 99's and age 18 and made Sanchez all 0's and they still say "we shouuld be getting more". Any ideas?

I ran in to this before and I can’t remember exactly what I did but it was one of two things

-Change the ratings like you mentioned and try making the trade the following day
-Change the ratings, save your franchise and then back out and reload the franchise and then make the trade. I’m pretty sure this is what I did to get it to work

A last resort if none of that works , you could probably just leave his ratings at 0 and wait for him to get released and claim him on waivers

I ended up trading 2 guys for him which put them over the 93 limit. I then claimed who they waived and traded him right back to them for one of the guys I initially sent over so I found a one for one kind of swap to work out.

I’m looking at moving Kiki Hernandez at the start of July.

I’m currently 38-45 on the season and he is hitting .184/.243/.241 with 3 HR,16 RBI and 6 doubles.

Teams looking for SS are the Braves, Marlins, Sox, Dodgers.

Below are the standings. I’m also looking to maybe move Sale for some prospects and a starter.

Has the trade thread died? Loved bouncing ideas off the group here.

End of June in 2023 Nationals franchise. Our season is over essentially and we are just trying to rebuild and move a few guys for more prospects and younger talent.
                      Couple ideas:
                      Angels get Corey Dickerson 51AB/.314/.340/.431 1HR 11SO 16H 2.3 mil rental
                      Nats get Jo Adell 119AB/.227/.263/.429 4HR 21K 27H 700k 3 years of ARB

Another option was Orioles get reliever Harvey for Stowers and Vavra. Orioles are currently 1.5 games back in wild card.

Guardians get Meneses and Thomas. Nats get Curry and Valera
Guardians are 3 games back of wildcard.

Rangers get Harvey and Thomas. Nats get Foscue and Acuna
Rangers currently lead division by 8 games

Guys I am looking to offload
                      -Meneses 30 yr old 315AB .308/.342/.483 11HR 45SO 97H team control till 2028
                      -Candelario 29 yr old 237AB .274/.324/.460 7HR 38SO 65H rental
                      -Finnegan 31 yr old 12HLD 24.1IP 25K 3.70ERA 2 years of arbitration

Would love other ideas if you got them.
                      Cubs/Brewers tied for division lead
                      Dodgers (48-29) Giants 8GB
                      Rays (51-30) Blue Jays 3GB

Marlins (50-29) Mets 2.5 GB, Braves 3 GB
WC) Blue Jays, Rsox, Angels. Orioles 1.5 GB, Wsox 2 GB, Yankees 2.5 GB, Guardians 3 GB, Mariners 4.5 GB, Tigers 5 GB

Re: MLB The Show 23 Trade Discussion

Ok guys, need some help with a Franchise trade as I'm at the ASB.

I'm Atlanta and we're clearly buyers but I don't necessarily need an impact bat as we're having a great year offensively.

The Brewers are another team thata are clear buyers given they're first in the divison by a decent bit but they've lost their #2 and #3 starter for the year

I'm thinking about pulling off a rare contender-contender trade.

I have 80 OVR, B POT SP Kyle Wright wasting away on my AAA Team. He was hurt to start the year, and ATL has so much depth I haven't even had to think about calling him up since injury. In AAA he's put up a Sub 3 ERA thru 65 IP. Guys like AJ-Smith Shawver have blossomed in the rotation in his absence. Same with Soroka.

As mentioned earlier, the Brewers desperately need pitching if they're going to compete in October after the injuries. After assessing their Roster, it looks like they could afford to part ways with 76 OVR, B POT LF Sal Frelick, as Winker and Yelich were both All Star's and Frelick doesn't look like he's in Milwuakee's plans this year as he's been in AAA hitting well and hasn’t got the call.
Chourio will also almost certainly be called up for Septmeber or to start next year as he's progressed very well.

In total the trade would be:
Braves Send - SP Kyle Wright, 80 OVR B POT

Brwers Send - LF Sal Frelick, 76 OVR B POT

My Trade Calculator has this trade pretty close with the Braves sending 65 VALUE and the Brewers sending 76

I'm thinking of tossing a C Prospect in from my side as well

                        Thoughts?

Fair trade but I’d ignore the trade calculator and say that you could be getting a low C potential prospect back instead of giving up one. Wright has the upside of a solid no.2 SP that the Brewers really need. Especially if Burnes departs in the off-season.
