Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
I caved and purchased 23. I’ve been very critical of the game the past few years, I played a ton of 22 and it had glimpses but was a very frustrating experience.. I felt the CPU would never hit properly, even user hitting felt off. In general I felt the show has been off for a few years now.
With that said I’ve played a bunch of 23 today and I must say the hitting feels the best it’s ever been in the series IMO. It just feels right when making contact and giving up contact. I’m also one of the few that LOVES the bat sounds. They are perfect, they really add to the experience of hitting. I didn’t like the tech test but right now I’m super optimistic that this might be the year I love the game again!
Please don’t mess up gameplay in a future patch, fix the sounds of the show bug and we are set!Comment

Disappointed with the way tbhe fields look. Grass still looks like artificial turf from the 80’s. The stripe patters are boring. I figured with ps5 there would better looking grass. Gameplay is great as always. Just a little disappointed. I got a ps5 recently and its just nit what i expected the show to be on it.Comment

Without a doubt. It is small but makes a huge difference in immersion within a franchise. Much more realistic.Funkycorm

AI Bullpen logic is still awful, and dare I say worse than last year.
Its been beaten to death, so I won't go into all the issues with it, but it is extremely immersion breaking seeing good overall RP's getting 15-20 innings on a season while a RP who is 10+ overall less gets 100IP and often comes into the game not fully rested.
It is flat out awful, and became a huge issue when we went to 26 man rosters. That 13th pitcher messed something up it seems.Comment

Having both Xbox and PS and doing tests on this very thing last year. YES, there is. Xbox is slightly faster. My timing is a bit off flipping between the two.Comment

the hit variety is just SUPERB.. wow I'm so impressed this is the best the show has ever played IMO..
Please please Sony don't change and potentially ruin it with patches!! If sounds of the show worked I would disconnect from the internet and never download a patch lolComment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
I gave specific examples of why I actually spent $100 on the Captain edition of the game for the PS5. I tested both of the test tech versions (PS5 and Series X) before game came out and even tried the Game Pass version on March 28th. Being that Xbox Series X wasn't up to part with PS5 I went ahead and purchased from Best Buy Captain Edition.
I don't care if you disagree with me because I'm extremely happy with my purchase. Why did I spend $100 on a game I already owned day one on Game Pass? Because of the reasons I originally stated. It is "I" who took the time to go from console to console to compare those differences. I have already written to devs regarding difference on pitch speed slower on Xbox.
I have been playing the Show since '09 and I was the person who notified Ramone Russell of MLB '09 and MLB 10 error regarding Nick Adenhart having Brandon Wood's face and vice versa and it was fixed after Adenhart passed away in 2009. Do I have to bring those receipts too? I'm no fan boy of any system in particular because if that was the case I wouldn't have spent over $2000 on both systems (PS5 was a bundle).
Anyways I still believe the PS5 version plays and animates better, if you enjoy the game on Xbox or Nintendo then enjoy your gaming. I'm trying to help anybody in my situation that owns both PS5 and X.

The only thing I can give you is the ps5 version might seem smoother during presentation because of slightly better frame rates and that’s judging from last year because I haven’t played the game on the ps5 this year. I’m only making an assumption but everything else sounds like a stretch. This year the series x version feels extremely polished and smooth.

CPU seems to throw more balls than ever before, and that’s a good thing. Now if only I could stop swinging at them lol.Last edited by NYJin2011tm; 04-03-2023, 09:18 PM.Comment

For the first time in years the cpu makes you pay for mistake pitches and I love it !
Are you guys seeing the stadium exteriors? When do they show up ?Comment

I'm impress by the Opening day presentation! Done very well. Actually my game is playing wonderfully on the Xbox series X . Other than the vault issues, which I reported to SDS.
The pitching meter mechanism on " All-Star " seems harder this year. Max Fried walking 2 batters in one playing a mock Franchise game as the Braves.

I know it’s been said but the amount of players that don’t have portraits despite being on their respective team last year is mind blowing. But then you’ve got guys like Joey Gallo who signed practically 2 months ago with portraits.Last edited by philmnn; 04-04-2023, 10:18 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
I’m really glad this game is is on Gamepass. It’s not worth full price at this point. It’s a great game of baseball as usual, visuals look a little bit cleaner and a little bit more detailed (like the dirt and scoreboards). But overall I find it stale. I hope next year is finally the current gen revamp.Comment

I don’t know how anyone who’s a fan of baseball can say this year’s mlb the show isn’t worth the price. To me this is the most polished best playing mlb the show in years. Some people are extremely hard to please I guess.
