      2024 Washington Nationals

Game One: Felipe Escalona (5-4, 4.26) vs Matthew Boyd (2-2, 3.88)
The Cardinals played small ball against Escalona, getting him for six runs in five innings of work while just striking out four times. Tommy Edman and Joshua Baez each had three hits and combined for four runs, and Paul Goldschmidt had a two run single in the sixth to break the game open. The Nationals got a two run home run from Kike Hernandez in the sixth but would not score again until Wilmer Perez singled to score Gio Urshela with two outs in the ninth.

Game Two: Josiah Gray (1-5, 5.00) vs Clayton Kershaw (9-5, 2.39)
The Nationals got to Kershaw, scoring five runs off of him in the first four innings, two via a sac fly and another on a single from Andrew Vaughn. The big hit came in the fourth on a two run triple from CJ Abrams, who continues to show he belongs at the major league level after a rough 2023 season. Josiah Gray pitched six strong innings, giving up a run in two hits with a walk and four strikeouts, and Will Smith and Victor Arano went the final three, giving up just one run on a solo home run from Nolan Gorman. Gleyber Torres had a two hit game, including a two run home run in the eighth, in his third game back from injury. Meanwhile, the Cardinals will lose Paul Goldschmidt for 1-2 weeks with a torn calf.

Game Three: MacKenzie Gore (7-6, 4.90) vs Miles Mikolas (6-9, 2.95)
The Nationals got a first inning run when Mitch Haniger doubled to score Luis Garcia, and they added on in the sixth on a solo home run from Andrew Vaughn. MacKenzie Gore pitched great, allowing one run in the sixth when Tyler O’Neill homered. Gore finished a seven inning outing giving up just the one run on five hits and six strikeouts. The Cardinals rallied in the eighth eight and ninth but could not find that one key hit.

Game Four: Lucas Giolito (6-7, 4.92) vs Jerad Eickoff (6-10, 3.56)
Juan Yepez hit a three run home run off of Giolito in the first, which proved to be the deciding hit in the game. Washington answered in the third with a two run shot from Brandon Nimmo, but that would be the only scoring they would get. Lucas Giolito went five innings and gave up four runs, the fourth run coming on a solo home run by Nolan Gorman, and Jerad Eickhoff gave the Cards seven strong innings as St Louis is able to earn a split in this four game series.

The Nationals (49-56) will now return home to take on Atlanta (61-42) for three games followed by a rematch with Cardinals to close out the month of July.

        2024 Pittsburgh Pirates 07/12-07/14

        Overall Record:63-31 (1st NL Central/10.0 over Milwaukee)

        Game 3

        Pirates-7

Pirates come out of ASB with series win

The Phillies are having a pretty good year but much like the Brewers in the Central, they have spent their time chasing Atlanta (63-32). The Phillies had a 10 game win streak going into their series with the Pirates but the Pirates were able to end that in just game one. That game saw the Pirates CY Yong faviorite Julio Urias face off agaisnt the Phillie's ace, Zack Wheeler.

Julio out dueled Zack enroute to his league tieing 11th win of the series. He also had nine strikeouts which brought his season total to an MLB leading 151.

The Pirates took the lead in the sixth inning off of a Rodolfo Castro rbi single and in the 7th, they added another when Anthony Santander hit in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Blake Snell, another Pirate CY Young hopeful took the mound in game two. He wasnt as dominate as Urias but did pitch six full while he allowed just a single run. The Pirates again took the lead in the sixth inning off of Oneil Cruz's sixteenth homerun of the season. That homer knocked in Endy Rodriguez who had singled in the at bat before.

The Pirates werent able to complete the sweep as the Phillie's bats came alive in game three as they took the 10-7 victory.

The Pirates now return home for their final season series with the aforementioned Braves (63-32).

          2024 Pittsburgh Pirates 07/15-07/17

          Overall Record:64-32 (1st NL Central/8.0 over Milwaukee

          Game Results

          Game 1

          Game 3
          Braves-3
          Pirates-0

Braves take season series with 2-1 series win

The Braves starting pitchers dominated the Pirates. The trio of Spencer Strider, Max Fried and Kyle Wright had everything going as they stifled one Pirate hitter after the other. THe Pirates did get to Fried in game two but that was after early dominance.

That third game was fun for the Pittsburgh offense. At least in the 5th in 6th innings when they scored a combined 12 runs that eventually led to the 12-6 victory.

The Pirates would like to get more of that or at least more often score more than what they are averaging on the year (4 runs a game).

Gary Sanchez and Drew Maggi were the unlikely hot batters in game two. Sanchez had two homeruns (3 now on the year) and 5 RBI's. While Maggi had a clutch two run single that kept the Pirates sixth inning going. That was key as the Pirates scored five more in the inning.

One victim of those big innings was the Braves #1 prospect, Gavin Williams who they acquired in a trade last season that sent Travis D'Arnaud to Cleveland. In his MLB debut, Williams came in for relief in that sixth inning, got no outs and allowed three runs.

The Pirates will now head to St. Louis to take on the Cardianls (44-52/3rd NL central).

Well for the first time in several years, I may not be playing MLB The Show until the next release.

I am having work done at my house and long story short there was a power spike or whatnot that screwed up my PS5 thus corrupting save files on the hard drive. The only thing I have is an old save file on the PS4 version from my 2025 season when I sent information to SDS for review.

            So....just....yeah

                  No

At some point the game was de-synced from cloud saves.

That's awful CB. Is your PS5 OK at least?

I've barely touched my PS5 the last couple of months. Still debating whether to try a new 23 franchise or just wait until 24.

                        Well good news/bad news update.

I bought a new PS5 just for peace of mind. I started the process of setting it up and loading save files from cloud etc..

Well much to my surprise, I had a cloud save of MLB 23 from my 2029 season, well the offseason. I don't know why it didn't show up on the other PS5, but I downloaded it to my console. The bad news part of this is its in the offseason, so I will have to redo the offseason. Not ideal, but its a hell of a lot better than having to either go back to 2025 or not play at all.

Again, not sure why I didn't see it on the other one, but my peace of mind purchase is turning out to be even better.

Sometimes you get surprised lol. I was thinking one day I wish I still had my saves that was started on MLB 14. I one day found a save on the PS cloud from mlb 19 that I didn’t know I still had. You just never know lol.

I know I abandoned my previous franchise but the excitement of the playoffs had me playing a new Oakland A's rebuild.

I didn't keep detailed year by year records and after losing the 2025 WS in 7 games to the Dodgers, made it back to upset the heavily favorited Atlanta Braves in 6.

Zack Gelof was WS MVP while Soto won his second consecutive AL Postseason MVP. Gelof was 5-5 with 4 doubles and a triple in the 7-4 win to clinch game 6.

Making the World Series in back to back years as the Wild Card both times is incredible. I mostly sim games so couldn't believe either of our playoff runs tbh.

Our 86 wins our the 3rd lowest for a World Series winner after the 85 win 1987 Twins and the 83 win 2006 Cardinals.

Not the most realistic rebuild with Oakland outbidding everyone for Juan Soto, but my head canon is that the team was sold to Joe Lacob (Warriors owner) who renovated the Coliseum and kept the team in Oakland.

Even with Soto and Webb our payroll still sits at a relatively modest $136 million.

I was happy to bring back fan favorites Bob Melvin and Matt Chapman for a WS run.

Paul Goldschmidt didn't finish the year on the active roster due to injury, but will get his first WS ring.

Also another GSW connection: Trayce Thompson, Klay's brother, helped bring another ring home to Oakland.

It was also somewhat bitter sweet to see former A's Matt Olson, Sean Murphy, and Ramon Laureano on the losing side.

This is the most fun I've had with franchise mode in years. I've finally gotten the hang of the new scouting. Gary Myers was my first draft pick in this franchise and Guillermo Ayala was a 6th rounder in the same year. I have more exciting players in the wings I'm looking forward to developing.

Finished up re-doing the offseason. Wasn't ideal, but most of the big time free agent signings were the same as before. I didn't get Lars Nootbaar or Joe Jimenez this go around, but did resign Harrison Bader along with Corbin Carroll and Yordan Alvarez.

Looking forward to starting the 2029 season as we look to get back to the playoffs.
