I will only be taking control of the draft and day to day of the franchise.

With that being said, what team would be the hardest? was thinking Oakland, because they have such a low budget and no clear minor league stars. I was considering the Reds, but they have some pretty good young talent that can be controlled for years. Pirates are out, they have a good system. Maybe the Brewers? Nota great farm system, and feels like they are on the cusp of losing their star pitchers within a few years. My Twins are a consideration, as they are kind of mid at everything.

    Any other ideas?
A's are hardest, but the Rockies, if you follow a realistic path, are easily top 3.

        Game 2: Los Angeles 4, Toronto 1
        Win: Griffin Canning (5-4)
        Loss: Mike Soroka (9-7)
        Save: Scott Barlow (26)
Soroka simply didn't have his best stuff today walking four batters over his six innings and only striking out two. Also, a managerial mistake was made in the top of of 8th. With the Angels up 3-1, Stephen Kwan grounded one to Chapman, who clearly made the play but Kwan was ruled safe. The Jays elected not to challenge (and by that, I mean I hit the wrong button as I had meant to challenge but had a brain fart). This led to the Angels' 4th run of the game in the inning and that would do it for scoring after that.

Cardinals return to winning ways, take series from Reds over weekend

The Cardinals (38-28) got back to their winning ways as they took 2 games of a 3 game series against the Reds in St.Louis over the weekend. The Cards now lead the Cubs by a game in the NL Central.

Juan Yepez was the star of the series earning 7 hits with 3 doubles and driving in 8 runs. He accounted for all the runs driven in on Saturday, even though the Cardinals lost 8-5 due to a bullpen meltdown. Andre Pallante would be tagged for 4 runs in a 1/3 inning of work and Genesis Cabrera would give up 2 as the Cardinals blew a 5-3 lead heading into the 7th inning.

Thankfully the Cardinals would win both Friday and Sunday to earn the series win and both games featured strong starting pitching and productive offensive output.

The Cardinals will remain at home as the Giants come to town for a 3 game series beginning Monday night. Jordan Montgomery will get the start Monday.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Game 3 vs Angels: Toronto 5, Los Angeles 0
            Win: Alek Manoah (14-4)
            Loss: Shohei Ohtani (9-8)
Toronto continues their streak of winning series, having now won all five post all star break and six straight series overall. Henry Davis collected his first MLB stolen base in this game, while Bichette, Vlad Jr. and Chapman all went deep for the Blue Jays.

With all of Toronto's trade deadline season moves now complete, the team's focus is now shifted toward finishing the season strong. The Jays are aiming to win their seventh consecutive series as they take on Baltimore in a four game match up.
                Probables for series vs Orioles:
                Game 1: Kevin Gausman (12-3, 2.89) vs. John Means (4-10, 3.91)
                Game 2: Chris Bassitt (12-3, 2.14) vs. Cole Irvin (9-4, 2.94)
                Game 3: Jose Berrios (11-6, 3.27) vs. Kyle Gibson (10-3, 2.47)
                Game 4: Mike Soroka (9-7, 3.15) vs. Lucas Giolito (8-5, 3.30)

Game 1 vs Orioles: Baltimore 4, Toronto 1 (11 innings)
                    Win: Felix Bautista (1-2)
                    Loss: Kumar Rocker (0-1)
Both Gausman and Means looked great for their respective teams today, as both starters allowed 0 runs. Rocker made his MLB debut in the tenth and looked good in his first inning. Unfortunately, he got hit hard in his second inning of work and had to be replaced by Zach Pop with two outs in the 11th. Nothing to do but shut the door on this one and try again tomorrow. Of note, Brandon Belt missed his fourth straight game as he continues to deal with the flu.

Game 2 vs. orioles: Toronto 4, baltimore 1
                      Win: Chris Bassitt (13-3)
                      Loss: Cole Irvin (9-5)
                      Save: Jordan Romano (40)
Brandon Belt returned after a bout with the flu caused him to miss four straight games and smashed another homer to up his season total to 34.
Game 3 vs. Orioles: Baltimore 3, Toronto 1
                      Win: Kyle Gibson (11-3)
                      Loss: David Bednar (3-4)
                      Save: Felix Bautista (32)
Both teams struggled to score runs until the 7th when Ramon Urias smacked a two run shot off David Bednar to break a 1-1 tie and pace the Os to the 3-1 win. Gunnar Henderson reached base all four times he came to the plate going 3 for 3 and also drawing a walk.
Game 4 vs. Orioles: Baltimore 5, Toronto 4
                      Win: Lucas Giolito (9-5)
                      Loss: Mike Soroka (9-8)
                      Save: Felix Bautista (33)
Soroka once again wasn't at his best and a high pitch count forced him out of the game after four innings. Kumar Rocker's second appearance was much better than his 1st, allowing just one run over four innings out of the pen. Jonathan India hit his first homer as a Jay in the second inning. Kevin Kiermaier and Daulton Varsho also went deep for Toronto.

Pirates take two of three from Dodgers

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers are just about on opposite sides of the spectrum (on paper) however, Pittsburgh continued with their early season success as they took two of three in the teams' first series of 2023.

Pittsburgh started off with a mostly impressive 6-5 victory in game one of the series. The Pirates controlled that game early as they got up to a 6-0 lead after five innings. That continued on until JT Brubaker gave up his first run of the game in the 7th inning. Still, he was able to stay in the game and did not give up another run but had to be pulled after the 8th due to fatigue. In came Jarlin Garcia who to that point had been pretty good in his relief appearances. Well that streak did not continue and Garcia gave up 4 runs in the 9th that brought LA back to within 1. Luckily for Pirate faithful, David Bednar was available and came in and got the last out of the inning, earning him his 10th save of the season.

Pittsburgh then went on to win game two 5-2 and lose game three 9-0.

The Pirates will now start another road trip as they head to Washington to take on the Nationals (8-16) to end the month of April.

**Game two was accidentally simulated after I hit the wrong button and entered quick manage. I tried to back out and it automatically simulated the game and saved upon return to the franchise menu.

                            Oakland A's Franchise: 2023

Had to put my Jays franchise on hold for a bit because we were just *TOO* good. It was fun crushing bombs with Vladdy, pushing for the Cy Young with Manoah, and having an absolutely historic season with Romano, but I just couldn't lose. Yes, there were plenty of close games, but when you've got the division locked up on August 1st, it gets a tad boring. I'm hoping to jump back in at some point, but we'll see.

With that, I'm starting fresh, with what is easily the blankest canvas in the entire majors-The Oakland Athletics. Given that I'm still using '22, I don't have the luxury of the 6th overall pick in the draft (I'll be picking 19 OA), so there's not even that to look forward to.

As always, follow along with the link below!

                            Game 1: LAA 2 @ OAK 0

Shohei Ohtani's season debut was absolutely dominant against the meager A's offence, going 8.1 IP, allowing only 4 hits along with 2 walks, and striking out 12 (!!!). For the A's, Paul Blackburn got the start, and was fairly solid, going 5 IP, with 7 hits allowed and 4 K's. Blackburn's evening was a bit wild, but catcher Shea Langeliers kept it close, throwing out 3 runners.

Offensively, the Angels were powered by Taylor Ward, who went 3-5 with a 2B that knocked in a run in the 5th, as well as Gio Urshela who picked up his first homer of the season in the 7th.

For the A's, Jace Pederson went 2/4 with two doubles.

                            Game 2: LAA 9 @ OAK 5

Shintaro Fujinami's MLB debut was a night to forget. Fujinami allowed 7 runs on 5 hits in the 1st inning. He settled in a bit but his final line was 3.2 IP, 5 H, 6 K, 5 BB, along with the 7 ER. Certainly not ideal.

Offensively though, the A's put some runs on the board, with two run homers from Ramon Laureano and Aledmys Diaz, as well as an RBI double for Esteury Ruiz.

For the Angels, Tyler Anderson made his first start, and while it certainly wasn't perfect, he did manage to get through 6 innings. Luis Renigfo's grand slam, as well as homers from Mike Trout and Brandon Drury powered the Angels to a 2-0 start.

That was my team for '22. I had a blast using Oakland and trying to build them in to a winner.
                              JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDE

                                June 23-25: FLAGSTAFF (54-23) @ SAN ANTONIO (39-40)
                                Stadium: Huntington Park (Capacity: 9,421)

                                June 23: Hops 6, Javelinas 1
                                June 24: Javelinas 3, Hops 2
                                June 25: Javelinas 4, Hops 2

San Antonio, TX (AP) - The Flagstaff Hops dropped two of three to the defending champions as they leave San Antonio with a rare series loss.

The Flagstaff Hops kept the wagon rolling on Friday night as they opened up their weekend series in San Antonio with a 6-1 victory. Emmitt Hampton lead the way, going 3 for 4 with two doubles, a home run and two RBIs in the win.

The Hops wasted no time in taking the lead as Art Mason, just off of the Injured List, walked, stole second, reached third on a wild pitch and scored on a Hampton sacrifice fly. They would increase the lead to 3-0 in the second on a John Benitez two-run home run, his 10th on the season.

A John Berry solo home run in the fifth would be the only offense for the Javelinas in this one as Alex Farmer once again pitched well. Farmer (7-2) would pitch six solid innings, allowing one run on four hits. He struck out six and did not issue a walk. Aldo Osuna worked a scoreless seventh, and Pedro Macias pitched the final two innings to pick up his first save on the season.

Emmitt Hampton’s 20th home run on the year gave the Hops a 4-1 lead in the sixth. Roberto Geronimo, who went 2 for 4, added a two-run single in the ninth to salt this one away.

On Saturday evening, the Javelinas rebounded as they rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Hops. Tom Santo hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth that proved to be the difference to even the weekend series.

Flagstaff would jump out to a 2-0 lead thanks to an Arturo Mardones solo homer in the first and a Josh Ortega RBI single in the third.

The Javelinas would get those two back in the fourth on Sam Morgan and John Berry RBI singles after a couple of Show-Lace O’Tying walks.

It would remain tied into the eighth, when Santo homered off of O’Tying to put the Javelinas in front 3-2. That would be the end for O’Tying and he was saddled with the loss to drop him to (9-3) on the season. He wasn’t his sharpest, allowing three runs on five hits, while striking out four and walking four in seven plus innings of work.

Kirk Gonzalez (2-1) picked up the win out of the bullpen for San Antonio with Tom Jung earning his 18th save as he worked the ninth.

On Sunday afternoon, the Javelinas won the rubber match 4-2. They hit four solo home runs off of starter Ryan Pressley to earn the series win.

The Javelinas (39-40) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third on a Robert Roberts solo home run. Tom Santo and T.J. Hart then hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth to put San Antonio up 3-0.

Art Mason would get the Hops on the board in the fifth with a two-run home run, his 18th on the season.

Mountain League home run leader Kosuke Matsui would add a solo home run in the sixth, his 26th on the year to make it 4-2.

Gerald Armstrong (6-5) grabbed the win for the Javelinas, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on three hits. He struck out three and walked two. Tom Jung earned his 19th save pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Former Hops pitcher Miguel Asencio made an appearance in the eighth for San Antonio.

Ryan Pressley (9-4) took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits, all solo home runs. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk. Sam Varela worked two scoreless innings in relief.

The Hops (54-23) will now close out their nine game road trip with a three game series in Prescott (41-37).

Around the League: Henderson’s Buddy Jordan hit a three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the tenth inning on Friday evening as the Silver Knights stunned Austin 8-7. Hulk Hoagie had given the Fire Frogs a 7-5 lead in the top half with a towering two-run blast to left, his 16th on the season. Blake Pacinelli homered twice for the Aliens as Roswell cruised to a 10-4 victory over last place Albuquerque. Pacinelli, the runner-up for ML MVP last year, has gotten off to a slow start in 2023, hitting only .223 with 15 home runs as Roswell has struggled to a (34-42) start.

Stanton Brickman homered twice and drove in four as Chandler rode a nine-run eighth inning to a 12-2 victory over Long Beach on Saturday afternoon. Glendale’s Will Nixon threw a complete game, one-hitter, striking out five, as the Desert Dogs shut out Salt Lake 3-0. Jordan Munoz’s three-run home run (14) in the sixth provided the only offense in this one.

Taylor Austin struck out 16 batters, but got a no decision, in a St George 4-3 win over El Paso. Austin went 7.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
