He only has 3 for me after about 25 games. I play first game of series and quick manage the rest.

I hate this game sometimes lol. Playing the ATL series led most of the game 1-0 and with two outs and two strikes in the ninth someone lower in their lineup took Diaz deep for a two run HR and I lost 2-1.

I had an awful blown save against Atlanta with Diaz too, I can’t get a strikeout with him to save my life. I’m crushing it with Pete though, 16 home runs through 41 games, too bad it seems almost all of them are solo

Finished the ATL series taking 3 of 4. Mets are now tied with Phillies in first at 15-13. If only I hadn’t blown the first game of series I played it would have been a sweep. Alonso finally hit a HR so now he’s got 4… look out! Lol. Carrasco saved his job as fifth starter by throwing seven shut out innings. Before that his era was near 6.00. Ottavino has been terrible as his era is 9.00. The rest of the staff has for most part been good.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion

With about 5 weeks left in regular season Cardinals sit in 2nd place at 66-62

The Cardinals (66-62) continue to struggle after the all star break and now find themselves looking up at the Cubs, but at least only a half game out. The NL Central is easily the weakest division in the National League with the division winner all but certain to be the 3rd seed in the playoffs and playing in the wildcard series.

The Cardinals started out August losing 2 of 3 to the Twins, but bounced back with series wins against the Rockies and Rays and then split a 2 game series with the Royals in Kansas City. They then took 2 of 3 from the A's before the Mets took 3 of 4, and now they just lost 2 of 3 to the Pirates. The bullpen continues to be a sore spot as they have blown 4 9th inning leads (twice with two outs) over this stretch. Juan Yepez's bat has cooled down, Edman isn't getting on base at the leadoff spot, Jordan Walker is finding bad luck, and Willson Contreras continues to be a big disappointment.

But despite the recent the recent struggles the Cardinals are just 1/2 game behind the Cubs who are having just as much of a problem finding sustained success as the Cards. In fact due to both teams struggles the Brewers have made this a 3 team race climbing to 4 back with 5 weeks left.

If the Cardinals are going to do anything, the bullpen has to lock things down. The loss of Ryan Helsley is really showing, as is the lack of a move at the deadline. Hitting has to become contagious as well and guys have to start putting back to back games together where they find success at the dish.

The Cardinals are travelling to Philadelphia for a 3 game weekend series with the Phillies who are in the thick of the wildcard race. A sweep would do wonders for this Cardinals club, but just a series win would be a welcomed result at this point.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

After a slow start the Mets are suddenly hot winning six in a row and seven out of the last eight. Mets now sit in first at 19-14 with a two and a half game lead in the division. Mets most recent swept the Tigers highlighted by a Pete Alonso Grand Slam!

My offense is struggling in a major way, I just dropped 2 of 3 to the Reds and 2 of 3 to the Nationals with one game left in the series. Fortunately the Braves have cooled off so I’m still sitting 1.5 back. Scherzer gave up 3 runs in 6 innings pitched in his last start and still lowered his era, that’s how bad things are going. He’s currently 0-4 with a 7.51 era. I’m giving serious consideration to releasing him just so I can get the majority of his salary for next year off the books

My Mets followed up the hot streak by getting swept by the Rockies. Mets now sit half a game out of first at 19-17. Although Alonso did hit another HR, he is now up to six on the season.

Verlander and Scherzer have dominated for me, both have era under 2.00. Quintana after a slow start has settled down and been good. Megill too started slow but has been ok. Carrasco after a horrible start had two back to back good starts. My offense is my biggest problem.

Going to give this one more shot.

When the roster with Tatis dropped last week, I decided to reboot my Braves franchise. Haven't really had a chance to play since then, but I've gone through and re-edited equipment for my team and completed spring training. Hopefully this one sticks, because I'm tired of starting over. (FWIW, I'm having the same issue with Madden 23).

Injuries: Off (more for the CPU than me)

                      ROTATION
                      1 - Spencer Strider
                      2 - Max Fried
                      3 - Kyle Wright
                      4 - Mike Soroka
                      5 - Charlie Morton

The roster update wasn't kind to Morton, so he and Soroka switch spots. Hopefully Morton doesn't fall off a cliff during the season, but we have options if he does.

                      BULLPEN
                      CL - Raisel Iglesias
                      SU - A.J. Minter
                      SU - Nick Anderson
                      MR - Colin McHugh
                      MR - Dylan Lee
                      MR - Tyler Matzek
                      MR - Joe Jiménez
                      LR - Jesse Chavez

The last bullpen spot was a tough decision. Chavez got a ratings boost and has a bit more stamina, and I like Jimenez's power arm. So Kirby Yates is going to serve as the closer at Gwinnett for the time being.

                      LINEUP
1 - Ronald Acuna Jr., RF
                      2 - Michael Harris, CF
                      3 - Austin Riley, 3B
                      4 - Matt Olson, 1B
                      5 - Travis d'Arnaud, C
                      6 - Ozzie Albies, 2B
                      7 - Marcell Ozuna, DH
                      8 - Eddie Rosario, LF
                      9 - Orlando Arcia, SS

                      BENCH
                      C - Sean Murphy
                      IF - Ehire Adrianza
                      OF - Sam Hilliard
                      OF - Kevin Pillar

Murphy will see plenty of playing time behind the plate with d'Arnaud moving to DH against lefties. Hilliard will push Ozuna and Rosario. Vaughn Grissom is waiting in the wings at Gwinnett.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion

Well we have finished the month of May and things have not gotten any better for our White Sox as we sit at 17-41, which puts us in last place of the AL Central. The Twins currently lead the division at 36-20, putting them 6.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Guardians.

At the plate, our best hitters have been Tim Anderson and Andrew Benintendi. Anderson has a .303 average with a .358 OBP, 7 HRs, and 20 RBIs. He also has 14 stolen bases, good enough for 2nd in the AL. Benintendi is hitting .295 with a .345 OBP, 3 HRs, and 17 RBIs. Luis Robert Jr. ended up tearing his shoulder so we decided to move up Adam Haseley to take over CF, except a week later he broke his foot... so now we have Billy Hamilton in CF and he is currently hitting .273 for us. Andrew Vaughn is hitting .240 with a .319 OBP, 7 HRs, and 16 RBIs.

On the mound it's basically Dylan Cease and nobody else. Cease has a 1.49 ERA (best in the AL), a 0.99 WHIP (best in the AL), but we are so terrible he has a record of just 5-3. Our bullpen has completely fallen off the map. Hendriks leads everyone with a 3.52 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Reynaldo Lopez is struggling with a 4.50 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. It may be a case of too much usage for him right now. Mike Clevinger is still the worst on our team with a 8.91 ERA and 1.92 WHIP. Although Aaron Bummer is pretty close to him.

So the big question becomes... when do we decide to sell? This is going to be a process to rebuild at this point, and we need to improve our farm system if we want to pull ourselves out of this thing. So when do we sell... and who do we sell?

Right now, I'm thinking we should definitely trade Tim Anderson, he will be 30 years old at the end of the season and I don't really see him in our future plans considering it will take a while to get out of the rebuild. Liam Hendriks will need to find a new team. I can't waste him on this team for the next two years. I would obviously like to trade Andrew Benintendi, but his contract might be hard to get rid of. $15 million a year for 5 years isn't the most enticing contract.

That leaves us with the biggest predicament of all... do we trade Dylan Cease? The guy is arguably the best pitcher in baseball right now, and he is only 27 years old, but he would also absolutely give us a monster return. I haven't fully made a decision on that one.

Taking a look at our prospects, we moved our #1 prospect (3B/SS Colson Montgomery) up to AA, where he is currently hitting .237 with a .384 OBP, 1 HR, and 9 RBIs. It has been 23 games for him there. Our #2 prospect (OF Oscar Colas) is down in AAA killing it with a .306 avg, .372 OBP, 4 HRs, and 18 RBIs. Our #5 prospect (SP Sean Burke) is in AAA with a 2.76 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 50 Ks. Unfortunately he only has a 2-6 record currently. Our #6 prospect (2B/SS Jose Rodriguez) is still in AA hitting .293 with a .354 OBP, 1 HR, and 16 RBIs. He currently has 40 games under his belt with 133 ABs. It may be time to see what he can do at AAA.

                          Athletics-1

Pirates narrowly avoid series sweep against lowly Athletics

The Buccos came off their sweep against St. Louis in high spirits and thought they had a good chance against (record wise) the second worst team in the MLB. Oakland however had other plans as they took the first two games of the series.

Game one was a high scoring affair as the Athletics got out to an early 6-0 lead after four innings. The Pirates tried to bounce back in the 5th with three of their own coming off of a Ke Bryan Hayes two run double and a Ji Hwan Bae double directly after Hayes' that brought the score to 6-3. The next inning would see Pittsburgh get even closer off another Ke'Bryan Hayes rbi...this time with a single that knocked in Jared Triolo to make it 6-4.

Unfortunately for the Pirates, the Athletics were not done as they scored in the 7th and 8th to eventually take the 8-5 victory.

Oakland also won game two behind two Jesus Aguilar hits and RBI's, 4-2.

Luckily for Pittsburgh, Roansy Contreras came to play in game three as he pitched seven innings while he struck out eight and allowed just one run. Tucupita Mercano had two RBI's of his own in that game and eventually led the Pirates to the 3-1 victory. David Bednar closed out the game and remained perfect on the year with his 23rd save which is good for third in the National League (Camilo Doval (Giants) 26, Daniel Bard (Rockies) 23).

The Pirates will now finish off their homestand with three Vs. the New York Mets (39-25/1st NL East) and Pete Alonso who is running away with the NL (and MLB) homerun race with 27 in just two months and change.

Battle for 1st in NL West starts off with a bang

Cinco De Mayo started off with a bang as the Padres and Dodgers battled for NL West Supremacy. The host 2nd place Padres jumped out to a 5 run lead over the division leading Dodgers in the first inning and never looked back. The Padres roughed up Dodger starter Noah Syndergaard for 6 runs in his 5 innings of work. Both Juan Soto and Matt Carpenter homered and Manny Machado added 3 RBI of his own. JD Martinez hit his 4th home run of the season for the Dodgers in a losing cause. Joe Musgrove improved to 3-3 with the win while Josh Hader saved his 6th game of the 2023 campaign.

Saturday night will see these two teams take the field again with a Tony Gonslin (3-2, 3.94) vs. Michael Wacha (3-2, 4.79) matchup.

                              Twins Split in New York

After games one and two of the series, Minnesota Twins fans were thinking "oh boy, here we go again." New York won game one 15-7 and game two 5-3. But the Twins' pitching turned it around and took games three and four by scores of 5-1 and 2-0 respectively.

In game one, the Yankees bats could not be stopped as Joe Ryan (1-1) was roughed up for eight runs over just three innings. The bullpen didn't fare much better. The Twins' offense woke up a little late as Carlos Correa, Christian Vazquez and Kyle Farmer all homered in the loss.

The Yankees took game two with a three-run 8th inning as Jorge Lopez (0-1) could not protect the lead. Tyler Mahle gave up two unearned runs over five and two-thirds innings of work with 10 strikeouts. Jose Miranda and Michael A. Taylor homered for Minnesota.

In game three, Minnesota got a much needed quality start from Kenta Maeda (2-0) as he went six innings allowing just one run on three hits. Jose Miranda and Christian Vazquez each homered for the second time in the series in the winning effort. Byron Buxton finally got over the mendoza line with a two-hit effort.

Pablo Lopez (3-1) was dominate as the Twins took the series finale 2-0. Lopez went six and two-thirds of shutout ball allowing just four hits with eight strikeouts. Johan Duran earned his fourth save of the season. Trevor Larnach had three hits, including a solo homer in the ninth to expand the lead to two.

The Twins stay out east as they travel to Boston for a three-game set. Bailey Ober (0-1, 7.71), Joe Ryan (1-1, 5.40) and Tyler Mahle (0-1, 4.30) are scheduled to pitch for Minnesota.

Minnesota Drops 2 of 3 in Boston

The Twins took the series finale to salvage one game in Boston as they fall to 10-9 on the year.

In game one of the series, Boston edged out Minnesota with a 3-2 win. Bailey Ober (0-2) went five strong allowing just two runs and six hits, but the offense was shut down by six Red Sox pitchers. Trevor Larnach and Michael A. Taylor each had two hits, and Jose Miranda hit his fifth homer of the year.

Johan Duran (2-1) blew a ninth inning save as Reese McGuire hit a game-tying solo shot, then two batters later Rafael Tapia walked off the Twins with a homer of his own off of Duran as the Sox won 5-4. Larnach and Kyle Farmer each homered for Minnesota in the loss. Joe Ryan pitched six solid innings and was in line for the win.

The Twins got a great start from Tyler Mahle (1-1) as they took the finale 5-2. Mahle went six plus innings allowing five hits and two runs with six strikeouts. Byron Buxton broke out with a four-hit game, including a double and a home run. Joey Gallo also hit a two-run shot that broke a 1-1 game in the sixth. Larnach and Taylor added two hits each as well.

The Twins get on a plane back home as the start a three-game series with the Washington Nationals Friday night. Kenta Maeda (2-0, 1.06), Pablo Lopez (3-1, 1.21) and Bailey Ober (0-2, 6.28) will start for the Twins.
