Has anyone noticed in their franchise simulation the absurd amount of CPU complete games? While I'm playing day by day I see on the ticker at the bottom that another pitcher pitched a complete game, and to me it seems like a bit much.

You have to lower SP stamina to like 2 and manager hook up to at least 7 for simulated games to help control them to a more realistic amount.

Question. If I want to keep updating my franchise should I do it in this thread?

I just remembered there's a separate forum for dynasty stories and don't want to clog this up if that's where I should be posting.

The Mets free fall continues, I’ve now dropped 9 of 11 including five in a row out of the all star break. We can’t hit worth a lick and on the rare occasion we knock in a run the bullpen turns in to hot garbage. I was able to pick up Julian Merryweather on waivers and he had a scoreless first outing so hopefully I can get more of that. Doesn’t sound like a big acquisition but I can’t make and trades that add payroll or make any free agent signings due to budget constraints so I’ve got to work the waiver wire. Currently sitting seven games out of first place and the Braves have tied us for the first wildcard spot. The one bright spot is is looks like I was able to get Edwin Diaz out of the funk he’s been in

I’ve never really paid close attention to cpu pitching trends before, I’d just always expect them to throw any of their pitches. I’d typically murder breaking balls in the strike zone but it’s been a real struggle this year. I finally got the timing down with Alonso and started putting up some absurd home run numbers and it’s really cool how the cpu just refuses to throw him a breaking ball now

Yankees Acquire Tim Anderson

The New York Yankees fired the first salvo in the leadup to the 2023 Trade deadline, when they acquired shortstop Tim Anderson from the WHite Sox, in exchange for pitching prospect Deivi Garcia. Anderson had just 2 home runs and 13 RBI in 86 games with the White Sox. The Yankees hope he will be an improvement at the position. Rookie Anthony Volpe was optioned to the minors to make room for Anserson. Volpe was hitting .191 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI in 37 games. The Yankees have also used rookie Oswald Perez (.191, 4 HR 17 RBI in 54 games).

Mets Acquire Gurriel Jr., Chafin

On Thursday, the New York Mets acquired utility man Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and reliver Andrew Chafin from the Arizona Diamondbacks, in exchange for pitcher David Peterson, and prospect Ronny Mauricio. Gurriel Jr. is hitting .295 with 12 HR and 52 RBI in 99 games with Arizona. Chafin was 4-0 with an 0.80 ERA in 33.2 innings.

On Early Friday morning, July 28, 2023, the Detroit Tigers acquired outfielder Teoscar Hernandez from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for outfielder Akil Baddoo, and prospect Jose Agua.

Hernandez hit .249 with 12 home runs and 40 RBI in 88 games with the Mariners this season. Hernandez will provide a powerful right handed bat in the Tigers outfield, which is predominantly left handed. Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, and Austin Meadows (who is on the I.L.) all hit from the left side. Only Matt Vierling hits from the right side, but he doesn't provide much pop in the bat. Hernandez hits lefties very well.

Season Wrap Up

The A's showed some improvements and ended the year 68-94. The offense was bad, last in average and OBP and scored only 575 runs, 27th in the league.

The pitching showed a marked improvement, giving up 676 runs, good enough for 14th.

The bullpen was also solid, only blowing 14 saves which ranked 5th in MLB.

The pitching staff was helped by a strong defense that tied for 2nd in the league in Fielding Percentage with a .989 mark, committing just 65 errors all season.

Oakland's leaders in WAR were Brent Rooker for position players with 3.6 and Griffin Canning for pitchers at 2.2.

Picture included with team stats for the season sorted by WAR. I moved Zach Jackson to RP for this so he'd be on the same page as the other relievers.

The Dodgers won the World Series in 6 games over the Rays. Freddie Freeman won the WS MVP.

I've been failing to keep up to date on updates in my franchise, so I'm going to go this route for the time being.

Redbird Report - Cardinals wrap up the month of May

The Cardinals (35-22) finished 16-11 in the month of May and lead the NL Central division by 6 games over the Cubs and Brewers. It wasn't the best month of baseball for the Cardinals, but it wasn't the worst, or all that bad.

The Cardinals lost back to back series during the month and both at home, first to the Marlins then the Cubs. But it also saw the Cards defeated the defending AL Champion Rangers via sweep in Arlington.

Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt continue to pace the offense at the plate. Arenado leads the National League in homeruns with 17 and Goldschmidt is an early front runner for NL MVP with a .329 average with 8 homeruns and 40 RBIs. Tommy Edman and Dylan Carlson continue to be a concern at the top of the lineup and Willson Contreras continues to struggle with his bat. Contreras closed out the month with an average under .200.

Pitching continues to be solid, although the bullpen is showing cracks. Alex Reyes was optioned to Memphis in favor of Johan Oviedo. Reyes isn't doing anything special in Memphis with an ERA of plus 6 in his short stint. Oviedo on the other hand, is pitching as effective as he did a season ago when given the chance at the big league level with 9 strikeouts in 4 innings of work.

The Cardinals will head to June assessing their roster and trying to determine just where they need to add help. They also need to determine just how much future they are willing to part with to add those pieces to a team that despite its shortcomings, currently has the 2nd best record in the National League and 3rd in baseball.

I’ve gotten to the point where I’m not sure the Mets will win back to back games again the rest of the season. I just had two bad losses in Boston, game 1 Scherzer looked great but the Red Sox were able to hit two pitches on the black for home runs and we lost 4-3. I did manage to throw my first ever immaculate inning with Scherzer though. Game two was back and forth until we took a 6-5 lead in the 8th off a Pete Alonso HR, then in the bottom of the 8th they hit the second pitch I throw for a game tying HR, another great pitch that was on the very bottom of the strike zone. That just opened the flood gates and they went on to win 10-6. I went from playing over .600 ball the first half of the season to being a complete train wreck, every time I get a lead I just know we’re going to cough it up

Been hopping around with franchises trying to force myself to play as a team other than the cubs and I may have found it after 1 game with the Mariners. I did trade for Christopher Morel but I just had a wild opening day.

Cleveland jumps out to a 3-0 lead on 3 solo homers. Morel cut it to 3-1 with his first at bat home run as a Mariner. Josh Naylor hit his second homer of the game off Castillo 4-1 Cleveland. Morel has an RBI single followed by a game tying 2 run homer for AJ Pollack. The following inning Cleveland scored 3 more runs 7-4. Bases loaded no out run scores on a double play it’s 7-5. In the 8th Suarez and Kelenic tie the game with doubles game goes to extras Suarez hits a walk off single Mariners win 8-7. That was fun.
