Re: Hitting woes
Yeah it does feel a little weird this year. Use directional as I have for the last few years. The swing feedback seems to be off which I think is affecting how people feel their timing is being applied.
Example: I hopped in to practice last night and had the CPU only throw high or inside fastballs and just worked on getting timing down. When it feels like I SHOULD be swinging I am getting “slightly early” feedback and getting good exit velocity on the ball. When I am intentionally waiting and swinging when the game says “good timing” the hits are weak and don’t “feel” right. With the majority of the player base moving to a more PCI stroke zone camera play style, I wonder if the swing feedback is not calibrated properly to directional hitting. What the game is telling me is “good timing” is just not good timing from years past. I also think the window is much much smaller than years past. But thankfully that can be changed with sliders. I am just too old to have to time these pitches in the nano second you are givenComment

Re: Hitting woes
Try putting hitting cam to Catcher Near.
I was using Fish Eye 2 originally but when I switched to catcher near, I was getting more hits.Comment

Re: Hitting woes

Re: Hitting woes
I use Directional (Classic) on everything, always have…
And this year batting it does feel a bit off (same as pitching) but last night I finally won a game and got a few nice hits in the process, so I guess it just a “getting used to” thing. Keep playing Keep Grinding!Comment

Re: Hitting woes
I use zone and approach it like a modern hitter. Ie, I'm not swinging until I get a pitch I can crush. Even if that means the risk of striking out. I'll expand my zone and move my cursor a bit once I have two strikes, but before then, I'm just waiting for a pitch to jump on and crush.Comment

Re: Hitting woes
I also agree that hitting seems different this year, I have gotten more single hits and far less home runs so far (which I guess is good). I’m still using zone hitting, some games I get really good hits and other games the pitcher gets me and I swing at everything.
I also try to notice how the pitcher is throwing the ball to, some pitchers will always throw low or high so I know to move my PCI either low or highComment

Re: Hitting woes
This is kinda what happened to me in 20. Too many foul balls. It just takes time to used to contact hitting. Still getting plenty of foul balls but also learning better plate discipline and even got a few walks.Proud season ticket holder for the Oklahoma City ThunderComment

Re: Hitting woes
I think I found my niche in terms of hitting. I tried sliders, cams, etc, but I have an unorthodox method that works and emulates sim baseball that you see on TV: Pitcher Center cam.
Hear me out: I use TNK sliders and PCI with timing as my hitting. For any count that's not 2 strikes, I guess fastball up high. If I guess the fastball up high, I crush it always with a power swing. I let the first pitch go accordingly. I just have a feel for it, but if I get a good eye on that ball first pitch and have a good feel on it, i'll hit it with the normal swing. If you get good contact, you'll see that nice homerun animation.
Any pitch counts with 2 strikes, I guess pitch down low with any hard breaking balls like curveballs. If pitcher throws no curveballs, i'll guess a changeup, slider, etc.
The pitcher center is beautiful. It allows a clear view of any break to the ball. As opposed to pitcher zoom, the cam is farther away giving you a clearer view of the pitch and more time if that makes any sense.
Try this out. I think many of you might enjoy the game much more this way as enjoyable as the game iis already.Comment

Re: Hitting woes
One thing I’m noticing this year, at least for directional hitting, is that the game wants you to swing way way later than years past. At first I thought I just needed to crank up the pitch speed but nope. I cranked it up to 10 and the proper way to hit is definitely to sit back and not swing until the last possible second.
I was sitting back on pitches and swinging at what I thought was super late, thinking the ball will go opposite field. Nope, pulling almost every pitch. The timing definitely takes some time getting used to this year on directionalComment

Re: Hitting woes
I use directional hitting. I like being able to influence the ball’s direction rather than trying to “aim” the bat at the ball.
I play offline only, and like to play sim baseball. Directional Hitting is more realistic translation on how you swing the bat in real life IMO.Last edited by El_MaYiMbE; 04-07-2023, 09:16 PM.Comment

Re: Hitting woes
Hitting has been weird for me so far. In exhibition games I have no issues at all getting hits and scoring runs. But in franchise, I can't hit anything. I know franchise adds in slumps and hot streaks, but still.Comment

Re: Hitting woes
They messed with the pitch speed in the last update I’m telling you. My timing was great and I had no problem getting hits and scoring runs before the patch. Now after the update the pitches are coming at me way faster. I was catching up to 100 mph before, now I’m late to everything mid 90s. It’s obvious to me they altered it.Comment

Re: Hitting woes
Hitting has been a nightmare for me. Been doing dynamic timing with no slider adjustments, and just can't seem to get extra base hits. Through 27 games, I have 6 doubles, and 3 HR's.
Can't seem to find the sweet spot in my timing. I'm either too early, or too late most of the time, and when I do get good timing, ball just goes right to a fielder. Sure, I know it's baseball and that's how it goes most of the time, but I have fallen from veteran to rookie +. I just feel defeated.
