I would suggest you wait until the price drops. The rosters need work, the game has some crash issues for some.

But really it matters what is important to you when it comes to playing the game.

You mentioned franchise everything seems really good so if you are ok with a few missing players such as Tatis, Senga, Fukinami and such then you will love the new franchise mode.

The new scheduling, cba stuff and draft were enough for me to upgrade personally

Sounds promising. Franchise has always been the mode I focus and spend the most time on. Love managing a random bottom feeder team and making the way to the top.

What's there to like on '23 more than '22?
Yes. Best The Show game thus far. They fixed the wild pitch, passed ball issue. Runners would not advance in earlier versions. Now they do.

So that makes it the best ever?

If full price is worth it, go for it.

Re: Should I upgrade from '22?

If enough people could ensure me they have upgraded the pool of players in the draft I might buy 23. They have changed the draft and scouting but if the pool of players is the same it's just a different path to the same destination. Pitcher stamina in videos I've seen is projected by scouts to increase significantly but in reality is the same as before. Might increase +1 per year. Might stay the same. Might decrease by - 1 per year. CPU teams don't realize that when they draft and take SP with poor stamina who will end up being 4 inning pitchers if they ever make MLB.

Getting rid of the shift is a positive.

Negatives are having to build my ballpark all over again from scratch and losing my franchise due to no y2y saves. This is the first time I didn't buy the game on the release date.

Are there more good prospects in the draft pool?

I always autodrafted before this year, so I've already simmed and viewed more drafts in the last 2 weeks than the previous 10 years combined. were there 18 yr. old draftees before, that entered pro ball with an 80 Overall rating? coupled with an A+ potential?
get it while its hot, because there are now

That is a change for the better. I trust you opinion more than most.

Have you figured out the new scouting yet?

How is it after today's patch? Did they fix frame rate issues and bugs on the last gen consoles?

I have not, but dont take that as any meaning into its difficulty.

And the catcher doesn't throw behind 90% of runners on a dropped pitch or a pitch in the dirt that rolls 3 feet. That used to annoy me so much...

Yes OP, definitely upgrade if you're into franchise. The correct playoffs alone are worth it. The game is playing really nicely IMO. The smoothest in many years, probably ever.

I got it a few days ago. Glad I did. Just a few things need polishing and I would say this is the best show ever. Maybe even better than '20.

I caved and bought '23. Scouting seems like not a finished product but it's okay. One issue for me which might not bother others is added cutscenes. First pitch of every plate appearance is a cutscene. Biggest is no y2y saves.

On the field I don't see much difference. I bought it primarily due to reports the pool of players in the draft was reworked and there is higher quality. Problem is scouting is hard to figure out probably in part to me being an old man who doesn't adjust well to change.

I can't recommend getting the new game but I don't regret buying it. I submitted a bug report for the cutscenes to see if they can add an option to turn them off. I agree with MLB wanting to speed up games. Seems odd SDS would add a feature to slow down games.

If you're talking about the pre pitch camera, it can be turned off in the settings.
