What's the point of timed based hitting? Seems like they may as well just remove any ambiguity, and just have directional hitting with the added caveat that you don't actually need to aim.

Let's say that I don't aim at all. I get a perfect/perfect right down the middle. What is going to dictate whether the hit results in a ground ball, line drive, or fly ball/HR?

I find I get more popups when I don’t use the stick.

I personally never liked influence in the games and never use it. I hit just fine and this year I’m hitting on HOF. I feel like swing timing should decide if I pull or go the other way. As far as ground ball or fly ball if I want a fly ball I look for a pitch up and vice versa.

            Re: Directional Hitting

I've been going back and forth between pure analog timing and using directional with the face buttons.

I tend to switch back and forth when I get into a slump.

            Never liked zone.

Years and years (maybe decades) of using directional hitting and I never knew you had to hold the direction all the way through the swing. To be fair, I only really try to influence when I have a batter on 2nd and I want to try and move them over.
