I'll see higher-than-high fastballs from the CPU all game if I keep swinging at 'em. Pretty good at laying off the low stuff but sometimes I feel like I can hit anything high. And then I don't.

I wish the pitcher/batter analysis tool was brought back to the forefront (accessible via dpad) because it’s an extremely useful tool in recognizing patterns of how you’re being pitched and how you’re pitching so you don’t fall into patterns.

I use it constantly just wish I didn’t have to pause the game to access it

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

In my experience so far (70-80 games on All Star difficulty), once the CPU has two strikes on them, they swing and misses at a lower rate at just about any unhittable pitch. Whether that's a slider or curveball low and away, or a fastball high and tight. IMO there is a distinct difference in how this works this year compared to the past. I had a game just yesterday where multiple mediocre CPU batter fouled off 5-8 pitches once they got to two strikes because they just wouldn't swing at an ender.
Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.

I’m starting to shift my opinion on this, I can’t get a swing and miss with Edwin Diaz to save my life

Yeah I don't know how other people aren't seeing this. I intentionally tried pitching a full game with deGrom against the Twins (terrible offensive team) last night and only had 3 Ks in 7+ innings. Something definitely changed this year with overall AI plate discipline and nothing will change my mind about it.

I think they are slightly more disciplined as I’m seeing an uptick in walks given up. That said I’m not really seeing a less than normal chase rate from the cpu. This is on legend pitching with CPU Contact and Power at 6. I’ve been using a combo of all the pitch interfaces as I like to change it up every couple of games to keep the game experience fresh for me.

This won’t help with change ups in the dirt, but I’m finding the cpu is much more likely to chase a pitch out of the zone if it’s inside or outside compared to something below the strike zone. Instead of throwing a low and away slider I’m having much more success aiming it belt high and away

This sounds like a good tool country. Where is it located and what kind of information does it provide?

While in the pause menu, highlight stats and go down to either pitcher or batter analysis. There is an absolute wealth of data about the current game you can find there, and you can filter the results down to very specific situations. Just as one practical example, you could filter results down to show how many times the other team's lefties chased your starter's slider on "ahead counts" (all 2 strike counts except full) out of the zone:

It can be very overwhelming looking all of the data for the first time, but once you realize just how much stuff this game tracks, it's not hard to imagine why the AI can identify repeated patterns and potentially punish them.

Most of the notations/abbreviations for things in those analysis screens can be found in another location - from the pause menu go into settings and select controls/guide, then Strategy Guide, then "Other". Pages 8-10 of that guide break down all those abbreviations.

Edit: Oops, I forgot the "chased" filter. It's in that bottom Result tab but I'm not using it here, hence there are pitches shown in the strike zone. But you can still see the ones that were chased, some of them displaying as strikeout pitches.
