    Rain Delays

I've been playing this game for I don't know how many years and I still don't understand what to do when the game resumes from a rain delay. My only options are to keep my starter in (which most of the time they are tired) or Warm up a reliever. But once you hit warm up a reliever you're stuck in the bullpen screen and can't go back. The only option is to put in a cold reliever. There's no good options. I had a great competitive game going yesterday that blew up in my face because I had to put in a cold LR.

When you bring in a reliever after a rain delay, you don’t have to warm them up, just put them in the game. The game simulates that he is warm

Yeah they must have just sucked

I usually put in a reliever if the rain delay is more than 30 minutes. SDS half assed this feature though. There should be a chance at a rainout and a shortened game or a rescheduled doubleheader. MVP 05 and MLB 2K7 has this feature long ago.

I remember when they announced the rain delays, Ramone did not sound too excited about it. He even mentioned at the time he didn't know why people would want this.

Well, i agree with Ramone if they knew they were doing it half *** like mentioned above. Had they done it correctly it would be a cool feature.

Which probably explains why they're so poorly implemented. But this all comes down to getting dynamic weather in the game. Since the only way to get rain is to specifically set the weather to "Rain", you're stuck in a downpour for 5 innings before the game says "Hey, wait a minute, it's raining!" and triggers the cutscene. This is just dumb, and the main reason I never put rain on. If it defaults to rain, I just change it to overcast. There's no strategy involved with it or anything, it's basically just an excuse to get your starter out of the game

I don't understand how Ramone doesn't know rain delays affect pitching, and being forced to change pitchers when you normally would not. To me, this is THE reason to have realistic delays.

Agreed. You shouldn't have a choice of weather in franchise. Only for play now games.

Rain during the game doesn’t necessarily mean a rain delay. Also I’ve seen delays as early as the 2nd inning and as late as the 8th.

So there is some strategy to games played in the rain because you decide if you pull your current pitcher and if delay is early and you pull your starter then you have to manage your bullpen for that game and the following games unless you have an off day the next day or two after.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, this is not correct. You can definitely get rain without specifically choosing to have it, because the first weather shown on that pregame screen is always random (though there may be some weighting to that randomness by season/geographical location, IDK). I always just take the first weather option I'm shown on that screen as the weather "forecast" for the day, and I don't change it. And I definitely see rain as the first choice from time to time.

What I think he is meaning is that you shouldn't get to pick the weather in the pregame option. It should be dynamic. Yes, the first option is random but you can also change it. But I think he means you will not get rain unless you have it set to rain.

It would be cool if it started raining in like the 5th inning or some random time. Or if it comes up overcast there could be a chance of rain during the game.

Does the CPU ever bring in a new pitcher after a delay? I remember in older versions no matter how long the rain delay was they’d still keep the starter in.

I have never seen them take the pitcher out. And I've always seen the rain delays when I'm pitching.
