The other modes remedy this, but butcher the frame rate, with Sharper mode being more or less unplayable. Ultimately, this is the biggest crime that MLB The Show 19 commits, as the 4K mode is a visual stunner, but is effectively useless for normal play."

So you are comparing a game from 2019 on PS4 to The Show24 on PS5.

            Then lets see.ss_detail.jpeg

Can we not turn this into a trolling or whining back and forth thread about which game looks better and get back on topic?

I wonder why stadiums aren't laser scanned by more sports game developers? I read Konami is doing this for the new PYS for ~15 stadiums (13 NPB and ~2 school fields). Granted, I have no idea how much something like this costs, but I do know multiple racing games have featured laser scanned race tracks since 2010. I think laser scanning the 30 MLB stadiums would go a long way to improving the MLBTS graphically.

Re: MLB The Show Graphics Discussion Thread

Let's be real. The Show has become a simple cash grab many moons ago. Maybe SDS is not to blame for this because the MLB license is forcing them to publish the identical game on so many platforms.

Konami instead is not looking for easy money with the Spirits Series. The Powerpro Series with these emoji like characters has way more sales than spirits every year. And Spirits mobile is their cash cow.

Since 2019 their games had a free roster update for the next season. For free!!!

These are the latest releases for Prospi:

                  2015 - PS3, Vita
                  2019 - PS4, Vita
                  2021 - Switch
                  2024 - PS5, Steam

It will be the 2nd time they will develop the game with a new engine. Every game is optimized for the platform it was released on. No hickups in frames, glitched faces, game freezes or whatever you see every year in The Show. The only thing I know is the slow down animation between innings on PYS2019. No idea if this is an error or intentional.

It is just too funny reading these lame ecxuses why SDS can't do this or that. Atleast they have better gloves and more fielding animations[emoji106]

Please do yourself a favor and watch some of https://youtube.com/@strawberryyogur...8utj3Iu29LfFbg animation comparison videos.

Sleeveless and throwback jerseys will see a big jump once they upgrade the graphical part. Right now a lot of throwbacks that are pullovers cant be accurately represented because of the uniform template and how long have we seen a sleeve inside a sleeve on sleeveless jerseys ? If I was ranking what i would want to upgrade first ? 1. Uniform models 2. Ballparks, especially city backgrounds which look like Minecraft creations upscaled to 4K. 3. Field of Play

And geez, I hope MLB never allows a time where it only has 4 releases in a 10 year span. But that has to be the secret to the Pro Spirits animation excellence, more time in between releases.
Surely you are able to read his post and figure out the difference between a cash grab and profit-motivated business.

You have the most posts in this thread yet the least amount of contributions. You're one of the ones that has gone around the board saying the people complaining about graphics do not know how to have a polite conversation on the topic yet you have spent nearly all your time in this thread acting sarcastic and mocking people because they don't hold the same opinion as you when it comes to the graphics of the game. Why?

To talk about what you were responding to, I'd gladly take a new release every few years with roster updates between releases if it meant the game had monumental changes each release. I don't think the annual releases have as much to do with The Show's animation quality, or lack of in some areas, or the graphical improvements we've seen little of over the years, but if having staggered releases was what it took to get more significant changes in all phases of the game, then sign me up. I'll even pay full price for the roster updates between releases if I know for a fact I am getting a game that is clearly improved on with the next release.

I agree about more time between releases, but unfortunately, the suits and "whales" of the community won't let it happen. I worked for a game developer about a decade ago and when microtransations came to our game, it completely shifted the industry from software engineering to financial engineering. I remember seeing numbers that a few people in the community were spending thousands of dollars weekly throughout the game's cycle.

And what really stinks, is that most developers want to do what we're asking, the just don't have the time or priority because the code is written in a way that is very fragile and not easy to refactor. I know firsthand that this is biggest issue effecting EAFC progress on the modes not named FUT. The knowledge is gone and the code base is a train wreck.

I'm holding out hope that SDS has a second team off working a massive overhaul, much like Sports Interactive did with Football Manager. For those unaware, SI split their development team (after hiring more people) to have them specifically work on porting the game to Unity. This started ~2020 and will finally come to fruition in FM 25.

You're not giving opinions like your signature suggests. You're mocking people. Big difference. You've done it multiple times throughout this thread. Over 30 posts in a thread and it's constantly you making a mockery of people because they have issues with the graphics while you personally don't.

Someone says the game has become a cash grab and points out how Konami has gone away from annual releases to develop games with bigger changes. You mock them and offer up a sarcastic post pretending to not understand what cash grab means and acting like the poster was saying SDS was wrong for trying to make a profit on their game. They clearly weren't.

It's just a common theme and I'd expect better from someone who clutched their pearls pre-release asking for people to stop mocking and attacking others that had no issues with the graphics.

Today I decided to take a trip down some memory lanes and fired up The Show 18 and 19. I usually say in a half joking manner that the Show has looked the same for years graphically. But holy **** it’s no lie at all. They look I’d say 98% the exact same except for lighting and some minor texture upgrades. The graphical fidelity if I’m using that word right is THE same for 7 years. Even 8 if you coins 17 which is when it last was overhauled

Outside of a few anomalies and the fact that Series S doesn't have the hair physics I think the game looks pretty damn good.

Colors pop more and for the most part things look crisp and smooth. Now I just wish they'd get with the times and add uniform physics like the NBA 2K series...of course I probably wouldn't get them on my Series S so...yeah.
