I have posted several images and videos of other sports games to prove my point. When the same ppl keep simply saying no this, no that. Hooray SDS.

People can say it because it’s their opinion just like yours is that PYS is better.

You don’t get to choose who’s right or who’s wrong or what people are allowed to say.

PYS has its own thread. Go promote your game there, but you won’t because you’re not getting the attention you’re seeking

I do want to comment on the comparison photos:

      Picture 1

It would be nice if you compared the dome shot from PYS to a dome shot of MLB ‘24. Serves as a better comparison when comparing similar lighting.

      Picture 2

This time they are both night games which is good for comparison but is there any particular reason why you chose to compare PYS to MLB ‘22?

      Picture 3

If I didn’t know that they were different games then I honestly wouldn’t know they were from different games. I would view it as some faces “look better” than others within the same game, much like I see in ‘24.

      Just my thoughts

Faces in 24 look way better than any previous version of The Show. That's hard for anyone to deny. Some look worse than others but they're all better for the most part. Hair animation makes a huge difference as well. Faces in PYS do look good, but no better than 24 IMO. Plus they have this weird plastic look to them. Some player models in PYS look blocky and weird to me. I do think player models could use some work in The Show as well, and some of them also look blocky and weird but I don't see a problem with them overall PYS and MLB 24's player models look almost identical for the most part to me. My original point wasn't that The Show models look better, but that PYS models aren't any better than The Show. Uniforms and uniform textures do look better in The Show. The uniforms in the video of PYS have the same plastic look that the faces have. The Show looks like cloth, although movements and physics could use some improvement. My original point which got lost was that PYS isn't enough of a difference to be blown away by. Some people for whatever reason want to hate The Show so bad that they'll compare something that looks basically the same to it and act like it's the benchmark for what a game should be. I don't understand it, but that doesn't really matter. I don't care if someone thinks PYS is the greatest video game ever made, that's their business. But as was said, it has it's own board that it can be promoted on.

Re: MLB The Show Graphics Discussion Thread

Well the 1st image is too show the batters box, not the lighting. Just check out the animated dirt with foot prints. The messy chalk lines.

The 2nd image is a rain shot at night. I think it was the only rain image I found on Google. The focus is on the wet ground with several 3d foot prints in the dirt.

The faces we'll of course it is objective. The are rarely close ups in the game. Just to say on 4k screens you can see baby hair on the cheek and neck.

As I said before I posted about this "other baseball game" or the soccer and basketball game for comparison because there where quite a few ppl in the past believing MLB would be pushing the limits of the console. I even had a thread about the new animation technology of EA and 2K and what a similar technology would mean for a baseball game. Realistic pitching motions even of legend players.

If I was trying to promote any game I would be talking about game modes and stuff. A mod can delete all the content I have linked, my point still stands that SDS is doing the bare minimum. The same game is running on 5 systems. So it is a no brainer that the game is hold back by this.

The only attention I would be interested is by the desperate but we all know the have lost the address to OS many moons ago. Influences have the best shot but they only care about viewer count. Gaming has changed for the bad past 5-10 years.

Anyway thanks for your latest replies, you have explained your opinions and have put some thought in it. I appreciate it.

Your first picture shows a game in the bottom of the 6th inning (PYS)versus a game that is in the bottom of the first inning (MLB)

Your second picture as been noted shows a comparison between current PYS game versus a game that is two years old and doesn’t have the updated graphics and lighting of the current game.

All this, along with your comments and history leads me to conclude that you’re purposely misleading people with your comparison pictures in order to put a game you prefer in a more favorable position.

For more accurate comparison purposes here are a screenshot from ‘24 with rain and a picture of the batters box a little further into the game instead of bottom of the 1st

Lol seriously... you still don't see the obvious foot prints into the ground. The ground gets uneven. Not a 2d texture. Well you are just trolling.

And where am I misleading. Show me the track record. It doesn't matter if this rain image is from 22 or 24. There is no wet ground in MLB. And what has lighting to do with this.

You are always changing the direction of this discussion. Like talking to a wall, ridiculous.

                I’m trolling? lol

I do see the footprints, never claimed otherwise. I was just adding similar pictures for comparison purposes.

There is wet ground in mlb 24. Go find a picture of Fenway park on a sunny day and then compare to the picture I posted. The dirt is wet. Period. It looks different than PYS but it’s wet.

Show you the track record of misleading? Look a few posts above this with the “comparison” pics you shared.

How am I changing anything? Because I’m challenging the “facts” you’re presenting?

The only thing ridiculous in all this is the obvious agenda you’re pushing and the audacity to try to factually declare a person’s opinion wrong that doesn’t align with yours.

MLB The Show Graphics Discussion Thread

And something else since earlier you were touting 300 something pages of people that agree with you that SDS does bare minimum and graphics stink.

Isn’t it odd that the discussion settled down post release and people saw the improvements to lighting, player models and graphics as a whole? The last discussion was positive on 4/1 and thread went quiet. Until 6/19 when who else but you showed up with video of OYS to try and rally the troops and people responded to video talking mainly about the video but not really comparison to mlb.

So that fizzled out and after a while you came back in with another video trying to stir the pot. This time you got the response you wanted and are running with it until the attention goes away.

And when the attention goes away or you start getting frustrated, you’ll likely wait a few weeks and attempt the whole process again.

Marbury….you’ve made your point. I played the game and can agree on most of the graphics/animations UNTIL the ball is put in play. Stiff animations, fairly predictable, and a bunch of players do have shoulders more ‘blocky’ than The Show. Show wins this one handd down.

There are guys here who complain about gear. I’m not a gear guy at all, but I don’t knock them for it. I’m a face guy, drives me crazy at how bad many of the CAPS are, but nobody scolds me for it…..so, move on.

To get back on topic a bit. CAPS look way better than they ever have before this year. They do have this weird cheek thing at first, where they look like a blowfish. But that's easily fixable and only takes a second. After that they look really good this year I think.

I found a CAP of Shota in the vault before he got his face scan, and it looked way better than the SDS version.

Yes, easily fixable but they look nothing like the player. I’m anal about it but I go thru the roster and, with the blowfish ones, compare them to the real person and it’s not close. The game is far too beautiful to have these blowfish (lol) even in the game. The attention to detail they give is not given to the faces. I’m glad we are given the option to fix them.

I have to just roll with what they look like. I'm not talented enough to make them look more like themselves. They end up looking like a gremlin if I try to mess with them. lol
