Re: MLB The Show 24 Feature Premiere Tomorrow - Storylines: Derek Jeter
How'd they stretch an hour out of this crap? Felt like when you go to school and have to do a big science project and you throw something together the night before after knowing about it for a month. Geez, even RR didn't want to show his face. How can they hype this with a straight face? What have they been doing this whole cycle? [emoji15]
Finally though another classic domed stadium.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Feature Premiere Tomorrow - Storylines: Derek Jeter
This game needs competition.
I used to play the 2k baseball game.
By no means was the gameplay better than that of mlb the show.
However, some things I did like back then :
- Play by play commentary : so much better that the show (even now)
- The colors : the show’s looks so washed out back then, it is fixed now
- The different broadcast camera’s per stadium : later copied by the show (I think, not sure about this one)
- The throwing meter : later copied by the show
- Gesture pitching : later copied by the show
- The live / game of today : later copied by the show
Don’t get me wrong : the game had a lot of faults too, did not play very smooth for example.
The color’s and lighting on evening games was terrible.
But it kept SDS on their toes.
At that time SDS kept adding things to the game, while keeping in the stuff that was already there.
For me, as an oldie who like’s to play with classic rosters, the addition of Y2Y saves and sounds of the show was amazing.
But then they starting taking stuff out. Season mode gone without informing us.
Y2Y now gone, SOTS now gone on this gen hardware.
Also the highlight reel after the game is gone, or at least replaced by a few moments that give you no feeling whatsoever about the flow of that game.
And – in my opinion – they add stuff while leave other stuff “unfixed”.
Good example is Heidi Watney.
What a terrible implementation. Repetitive lines, and just very very bad graphics.
I did not add anything to the game (for me) but annoyance.
Celebrations in the dug out are cool of course, but you have quickly seen them all.
I care about other stuff, but can understand that a lot of people like this.
Instead I prefer they would have made the grass and dirt look better, or the uniforms and player faces.
In replays you can really see how bad some of the stuff is.
They did make small improvements over the years in franchise, but there is still so much lacking.
I, or maybe we, am/are not the target audience anymore.
They seem to make good money, and have no competition. So from a business point of view, they are doing great. Just not for me.
It’s the same with NHL and especially FIFA : no footplanting, players skate around the field and move their bodies in impossible ways, but people buy it because of the online ultimate team mode.
No competition, so no need to fix stuff. Just sell sell sell.
Exception to the rule is NBA, that game rocks (again, in my opinion) and that without competition.
I still love the game. Bought ’23 a month ago for € 10,- and will be playing that with classic rosters and created stadiums to get my baseball fix.
Still love the gameplay too. I think it’s hard / impossible to keep improving that on a year to year basis but they try to. At least they keep adding animations.
So, I will continue to play with ’23 which is still fresh to me, and hope for better things to come.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Feature Premiere Tomorrow - Storylines: Derek Jeter
I just skimmed through yesterday's Jeter Storylines feature premier and my takeaways are short:
- they put a ton of effort into Storylines
- graphics totally untouched
- gameplay relatively untouched
So clearly they spent basically this entire development cycle working on Storylines. Which begs the question........ Why?
DD is your moneymaker.
Diehards clamor for franchise updates.
Both groups want graphical and gameplay upgrades.
So why in the name of all that is holy would you spend basically an entire dev cycle on Storylines, that which basically no one asked for? That which basically no one plays regularly. That which can be seen on YouTube in real life? I'm honestly lost....

I’ll buy it because I always do and I’m fine with that but honestly OOTP will probably get most of my baseball gaming time this year. I’d say it was 50/50 split last year but it’s been trending more towards OOTP for me for a while now.

Thankfully I decide not too watch. Other then the gameplay that we have no info on but its usually pretty consistent but 100 + dollars for what exactly.
For that money u better find a way to immerse me into the game not have myself create my own environment.
Gameplay reigns Supreme but for that annual price u need to offer more then gameplay which should be a company given at this pointComment

Diamond Dynasty, Ultimate Team modes are the worst thing to ever happen to sim sports gamers.

Yes it is. Buying the game beacuse just because "there is no other option" is what is killing the game. People would rather spend money on trash then play something or do something else.
The studios will never learn until their bottom line takes a hitComment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Feature Premiere Tomorrow - Storylines: Derek Jeter
I started watching it and just skimmed a bit.
So we have had two premiers of four and so far only Storylines has been covered. This leaves to be covered in the remaining two: play improvements, graphic improvements (do they have the new MLB jerseys), Diamond Dynasty (which will probably completely consume the next premier), RTTS, MTO, and Franchise. It does not seem like we can expect much improvements in these remaining subjects.
Pretty discouraging!

Hate to break it to you, but the extreme vast majority of people who buy the game, or any game, are doing so because they like it and get enjoyment out of it.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
