Re: MLB The Show 24 Gameplay Improvements and Trailer Revealed

I just want to know what the art team does on an annual basis. What's the size of the team? Has to be less than 5 people with how little the game has changed graphically the past decade.

I also don't understand why people still try and make the argument of wanting to see other parts of the game improving if they had to choose. You don't have to choose. The people that work on physics are not the people that work on lighting, textures, etc.

This board has a weird obsession with excusing the lack of progress this game has made over the years in key areas. And before anyone tries to make the next predictable dumb statement, I enjoy the gameplay on the field and do not think the game is bad, I just am able to enjoy the game and still see that is has really stagnated in multiple areas, primarily graphics and franchise mode. Both those areas deserve all the criticism they are met with. They have not progressed at an acceptable rate for a AAA video game.

It seems that any graphics/animation based critique is met with comments like "I don't care because BACK WHEN I started gaming, the graphics were 2d" or "there was a time when we only had 10 pitcher motions". If you guys don't care about it , do you feel the game should just look the same for 5 years? 10 years?

Just go back and play one of those games we loved in the past. As great as they were at the time, I can’t get them to hold my interest anymore.

I’m in the same boat. I wouldn’t complain about improved graphics but it’s not a game breaker for me.

Normally I just download CAPs but then it annoys me not having the correct ratings.
You can always change the ratings later.

There's almost no chance the international players will be in Day 1. All indications are that you have to have been on a Major League active roster to be a part of MLBPA licensing, and none of those players, like Yamamoto, have done that.

Yamamoto, Go, and Matsui could be added pretty quick given the Dodgers and Padres are starting so much earlier than everyone else. But probably going to have to wait a week or so after Opening Day for the rest of them.

Im years prior, they have had some of these players in day 1 though. Also not sure how it works because these players were in last years games when they signed the wbc deal.

I think the WBC contracts expired. That’s why they were removed from the game later in the year.

Not in the last 3 years, at least. Can't speak to before that, as I'm on Xbox and didn't have the game.

The exception was with the WBC last year, and even then that agreement was only until the end of the calendar year (they were all removed from the rosters on 12/31). But players who actually came over, like Senga, were added later.

I’m definitely in the boat where I don’t care if graphics have changed from 23.

But…. I also don’t want to go back to Hardball IV. LOL!

I counted 47 people in the credits on 23, and there could be more, I stopped counting after looking through those credits after about a half minute.

Edit - bump that 47 up to at least 54.

Same if they spent the entire development cycle on franchise mode i would be super happy.

I don't know. Art, graphics? But apparently developing a video game isn't as simple a task as saying these things are simple and should have been done differently years ago.

54 total people that work at Sony San Diego. Smallest team of the yearly sports games.
