Re: MLB The Show 24 Gameplay Details and Trailer Revealed
3 weeks from release date and I have no plans to buy this year's version. I play exclusively manage mode in franchise. No y2y saves means I have to start over again and I've seen nothing to convince me they made enough improvements to franchise to convince me to start over.
I don't want to be overly critical of the game because I love the game but I see a lot of stuff that is irrelevant to how I play the game and therefore from my perspective they have wasted developer hours on things that could have been more wisely spent in other areas.
I'm not going to buy the game to find out whether they have made improvements to the mode I play or if they have made it worse - which has happened in the past.≡Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Gameplay Details and Trailer Revealed
Well thats great if your seeing that. but id just like to say in my experiences the bullpen logic in game was not even close to accurate more often than not the cpu handles it poorly. especially if there losing by 1 run they still put in there Lrp 99% of the time and even in tie games in later innings they wont use there better bullpen arms far too often i still see the Lrp used. We shouldnt have to adjust all the bullpen slots to wrong slots that dont relate to the type of rp is even supposed to be in just to try and get a work around along with the manager hook slider in game. all this for the past decade now it feels like.
It's been this way for years and is the primary reason I have stopped playing the game as frequently as I have. I went from playing all 162 annually and even making it multiple seasons in to where I haven't completed a single season since Y2Y saves were removed from the game, so however many years that has been now. The bullpen and lineup logic have just sucked a lot of the enjoyment out of the series for me, personally.
It's also pushed me to play more DD which has been fun, but that doesn't keep me playing throughout the summer like franchise mode did. Instead, I just move on to playing OOTP exclusively whereas in the past I'd play both simultaneously.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: MLB The Show 24 Gameplay Details and Trailer Revealed
I've been one of the more critical users here but I think people are blowing the "bad marketing" situation out of proportion. Yes it's been really bad, I think everyone agrees on that. But that doesn't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things. No matter what, everyone will know everything there is to know about the game in no less than 2.5 weeks. Whether we learn about a new feature now or the night before the game releases honestly doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Sure it would be nice to have all the information now but its not going to make the game come out any sooner so what difference does it make?Comment

You know what's annoying? Blind stooges and marks that make it so the game never progresses because the dev is going to make money anyway. Congrats on steering this game into being another Madden.
Do you honestly believe if the 50 of us here posting a lot all do not buy the game that will force them to change? I think you sadly undervalue how many copies of the game they sell a year.Mets Baseball, All Day Every Day

If you would actually take the time to read thru entire forums and people's posts instead of posting over the top, outrageous comments, and then only responding to reactions of those posts, you would see that even fans of the game/series are critical, find shortcomings, and have things they wish would improve, get fixed, or be added.
But instead of being a contributor, you choose to be a disruptor which does nothing more than take threads such as this, derail them, and make it agonizing to continue to follow because it becomes tiresome reading and sorting thru the nonsense.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Gameplay Trailer
They had different premieres for NL storylines and Jeter storylines. I’m not putting it past them to do a blog for gameplay and DD and then a premiere as well. Expectations are low on my side.Comment

Few more graphical things I noticed in the trailer:
- Hair physics look legitimately good from what I can tell
- Toronto STILL has far too much red in the crowd.
- Flapless helmets on the first base coaches (not sure if those are new)
- The night lighting in the Harper HR shot is atrocious, I have no idea how that one made it into a promotional trailer.
- Clipping issues galore on Toni StoneComment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Gameplay Details and Trailer Revealed
Curious to see what is happening with Franchise. Hopefully bullpen logic and lineup logic, trades and team ai management have been updated or completely overhauled because I do think gameplay blog was pretty underwhelming to say to the least.
I look at it this way. I usually get through about 1 season a summer. I finished last year by getting knocked out of the playoffs and I got into spring training so if this is all they do and Franchise is mostly unchanged I'll just stick with 23 and get into season 2. 23 is a great game of baseball minus the bullpen management.
And if they surprise me with updated franchise stuff I'll consider getting 24. It's similar to WWE 2k24 though they added a ton of new gameplay stuff matches, etc. Either way I play 90% universe mode and if it's barely updated it's an easy pass.
Show is the same way so they would have had to do some crazy updates to gameplay anyway to get me to buy without franchise updates.
And I'm one of losers who cause the devs to not update graphics because I am fine with them so that doesn't bother me. Could they be better, yes. Does it bother me, no. Rather better animations then overall graphics/textures.
Either way, I am happy to stick with 23 and if they shock me I'll upgrade but if not I won't be broken up about it.Comment
