Another wall interaction clip posted today - there is definitely a much greater sense of urgency now around the walls when runners are on.

It’s these subtle but necessary changes that pull me to abandoning my current franchise, again, and start over.

As someone who plays every pitch of every game, these gameplay changes (and presentation changes) have a greater impact on my franchise than some off the field feature.

If they’ve gotten rid of the animation where the fielder catches the ball near the wall and keeps running while repeatedly bouncing off the wall(I’m sure you know the one) that will be huge. Nothing takes me out of the immersion of a game like that animation.

Good question. I have a long list but some key features I feel like are overdue:

-Customizable draft classes

-Expanded Rosters (as you mentioned)

-Dynamic Progression (tired of every prospect developing)

-Dynamic Regression (regression is TERRIBLE)

-Player transaction history on player card

-AI Roster Logic (This one is tough but man there are realllly bad moves the AI makes)

-Custom rules (Like 2K)

-More advanced stats. OPS+, wRC+, Batted Ball data etc.

Not sure how I forgot to add an updated sim engine to this list, as well as AI bullpen management.

I’m not kidding when I say I don’t think the sim engine has been updated since 2010ish.

Last year there were 5 guys irl who reached 200+ IP. I’ve seen 30-40 reach that milestone every year in The Show

Roster logic has been a problem for a long time. The number of times I see teams rush their top prospects to the big leagues just to ride the pine is astounding. A bad team carrying a not quite ready 24-year old B prospect outfielder might make sense if they were starting every day, not if they were sitting on the bench so a 32-year old journeyman OF can get the start instead. Some logic behind the CPU teams putting their A and B prospects in the best situation to get consistent ABs regardless of level would be nice.

Also I wish they could add a DH roster spot. Like as an actual position. Handle it like the CP spot where you're not actually required to have one (I turn ALL CPs into RPs so that elite level set up guys can eventually sign as closers or usurp an underperforming closer). But years and years of having to see Nelson Cruz play RF because he was still the top ranked RF on the depth chart. Or even earlier than that, Big Papi routinely playing 1B in Boston. The game gives out a DH Silver Slugger so it's clearly still tracking DH ABs, it's high time to give them their own position in the game.

Add all this to the bullpen AI logic and I pretty much just play my game accepting that, in canon, MLB front offices and coaching staffs unanimously decided to change the "right" way to manage now includes only using the same relievers every night and killing your starters stashed in the BP.

One question/concern I have is whether the AI/CPU will utilize the Prospect Promotion Incentive, or will it be similar to in season contract extensions where its only for the USER.

If the CPU/AI doesn't use it, then it will be yet another feature added that feels as though its a waste, especially to those of us who only do single team control.

Interesting thought. I would think it wouldn’t be an issue to make the AI benefit as it effectively is a draft pick awarded for having those players eligible on your major league team and in the running for the applicable awards.

Now if the AI takes that reward eligibility into account when weighing the reasons to promote a player is tough to say but if not I still think the AI should be able to ‘luck’ into a netting a draft pick should an eligible player of theirs be in the running for the awards.

Curious if they kept fixing the trade logic. It was harder, but still too easy to trade for top prospects last year. Also you’d see some trades where top prospects were traded for middle relievers in CPU vs CPU trades. I think I saw Witt and Elly get traded for a few average relievers.

Speaking of Franchise rosters… does anyone know how much involvement Ridin has and what type of rosters we will be getting out of the box? I know he works for them etc… but he also hasn’t said much. I know most of us were excited when they brought him on …. But nobody has said anything really…… Im curious to see if the MILB rosters are truly his responsibility or if he is used on a smaller capacity.

It appears that scouting will still be locked until Sunday and we still have only 3 scouts. If we're still going to be responsible for scouting 4 regions (East, Central, West, International) for the amateur draft, I wish they would give us 4 scouts so we could cover all 4 areas, especially since our time/ability to scout is handcuffed to one day per week.

And I'm not sure why, at least speculating, they will continue to have us be locked out of viewing prospects on "non-scouting" days.

That’s true. I was giving them benefit of the doubt but through drafting and trading, I had like 15-20 of the top 100 prospects. Which was crazy considering I didn’t have to give up much to get some guys that seemed like they were highly touted.

Adding some sort of “team direction” feature to make it so rebuilding teams won’t give up prospects easily vs buying teams giving up prospects for proven players would go a long way in making it more realistic.
