Prior to Full minors, they basically introduced players (almost all with face scans) in the game the year after they debuted. There were here and there exceptions like Tatis, Vladdy, Jackson Holiday, and Elly. NOW - it's like 50/50 whether a player will have a scan even 2 years after they have debuted.
Once full minors came, they basically introduced scans or renders for all the top 100 prospects that year. Not only that, mid season they introduced like 15-20 renders for that years draft class. These weird renders have only been touched this year with some of the players who debuted last year. ( I also think weirdly last year they updated some of the renders for the DBacks only).
NOW, they do not introduce faces scan for ANY minor leaguers anymore since that first time. (except Holliday). AS time has passed and propects go up and down in rankings, a lot of those prospects they did scan aren't even really prospects anymore. Looking at the top 100 in franchise, Jackson Chourio is the only player I see with a scan that didn't have on before (he also signed a major league contract though). Only 7 scans in the top 30. the most egregious being of the non scanned being players who debuted last year like Nolan schanuel, junior caminero etc
I know we were giving them a lot of grace with scans due to covid and the lockout so maybe they were unable to get into camp to scan teams. But this is the year I thought largely everyone would be scanned but has not happened.
Stilll some teams looked largely untouched like the angels who have no scans for players who played a lot last year like Schanuel, silseth, Neto, Davis Daniel, Jordyn Adams, etc. But the one caveat I could find to throw a wrench into everything is the Oakland A's. This team seemingly has every single player face scanned. EVERY One of their AAAA players who won't be in the league next year, prospects, other players who didn't debut that ive never heard of lol Just odd how this all is handled.
