@sheredia mentioned 23.2.0! and I can't help it but I'm starting to think lately! Are we be strung along on purpose with MLB The Show? I obviously don't want to believe this but evidence of a slow drip release strategy is starting to build momentum! The internet never looses!

Re: MLB The Show 24 Review: Another Solid Hit for the Series
I really wanted to enjoy this series again, but I had no itch to play this weekend and just jumped into an exhibition, paused it after two innings, and found myself cleaning the living room instead of playing the game. The living room is already clean. It's just a redundant game if you've played any version in the past three years. I couldn't imagine slogging through an entire season. Maybe I'll give RTTS a shot, but I have a couple other games I haven't yet started.
I actually requested a refund and was denied because I had downloaded the game. Alas, I have learned my lesson. No more Show for me.Comment

It's been this way with basically every sports title that comes out now though, I find. It's all so stale and I just can't do it anymore.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Review: Another Solid Hit for the Series
This has been my impression as well. It's simultaneously a phenomenal game and one that I just have no interest in playing once I sit down. To me, The Show is the best sports franchise going, and it's not close, but I've just lost all interest in playing the same damn game for 15 years running. Hell, I fired up The Show 06 on my recently resurrected PS2 and it's shocking how much of the DNA is right there.

The Show is a GREAT game that I just find boring now. The gameplay is superb, but it becomes redundant. The game boils down to a half-inning of throwing pitches to the corners and watching the CPU foul off an insane amount of pitches and then staring intently at a white dot that I then attempt to make my dude swing at and instead feebly pop up to left center field.
Two years ago, my mind was blown by NBA 2K23's MyEras. It introduced new ways of playing the same game. I would love something like that in MLB The Show. Imagine 1988: Ken Griffey Jr is an exciting young prospect. Orel Hershiser is dominating. The Mets are so much fun. The Bash Brothers are tearing the cover off the ball. Vince Coleman just stole 100 bases three years in a row.Comment

MLB The Show 24 Review: Another Solid Hit for the Series
The lack of roster management and specifically the bullpen logic wasn’t mentioned in the franchise section (sorry if i missed it, page crashed multiple times on the mobile app). Was this fixed? If not, seems like a glaring thing to exclude considering how long its been in the game and how franchise breaking it is if you dont babysit every team all season.
Edit: scrolled right past the thread discussing this where people are already doing due diligence and it looks like it has NOT been fixed…

Re: MLB The Show 24 Review: Another Solid Hit for the Series
I've kind of been the same way after the newness of the first couple of days has worn off. I love the game, don't get me wrong, but I used to be able to play 5 full games in a row without getting bored. I used to play every single free second that I had, now I look for excuses not to. It's sad because I think this is by far the best version of the franchise. Maybe it's me that has changed, but I'm struggling to stay interested in this one.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Review: Another Solid Hit for the Series
It's either that or that I could be losing some interest in gaming. I don't play anything as much as I used to.
Don't get me wrong, I've still played the hell out of the game. I've just not been as excited about it as I have been in the past.Comment

I didn't buy it and I'm glad because they reportedly botched the camera in manage mode.
Bring back y2y saves and stop pandering to the simmers and ignoring those who play the game. Until then mlbts 23 will be my baseball game.≡Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Review: Another Solid Hit for the Series
It can be a drag if you play every pitch, etc. Maybe take a break, some later patches might interest you. Pitch the ball, hit the ball, field the ball. I can understand. They might need a complete overhaul of presentation, even tho they did add some new cameras/animations. That would help. That same mound visit has been around forever, as an example.

Fingers crossed, for me, that they updated the stadium creator props. Something on the side I enjoy doing.Comment

They've dropped an update the week after release for the last 2 years, and their updates are normally on Thursdays.Comment
